Erotic Romance

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY: When college student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating.  The unworldly Ana realizes she wants this man, and Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian’s secrets and explores her own desires.

FIFTY SHADES DARKER: Daunted by Christian’s dark secrets and singular tastes, Ana has broken off their relationship to start a new career. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and while Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Ana is forced to make the most important decision of her life.

FIFTY SHADES FREED: Now, Ana and Christian have it all—love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of possibilities for their future. But Ana knows that loving her Fifty Shades will not be easy, and that being together will pose challenges that neither of them would anticipate. Just when it seems that their strength together will eclipse any obstacle, misfortune, malice, and fate conspire to turn Ana’s deepest fears into reality

My Review
So I am not one to usually pick up an Erotic Romance unless its a author request, however since this has reached the top of bestseller lists, I thought I would try them out….and after starting the first one yesterday and I just finished the third, I found myself totally addicted to the story, plot, characters and everything between. At first I had heard both good and bad and it took me a while to get the courage to read them….and now I think I understand why its so popular….its definitely different from other erotica that I have read. As you read more into the series it starts to seem more of a contemporary romance with a erotic edge to it. There was something very stimulating and exciting about the story and Ana and Christian.  I think I have to say that after reading the first book I wondered if I would like the 2nd and the 3rd and it just kept getting better, and we see more of a romance and a intense plot, which is the type that I enjoy. I didn’t really like the bdsm aspect of it so much, although there were certain parts that was very intriguing.  Anastasia, is very innocent and naive especially with anything sexual, whereas Christian has more than enough experience with his sexuality, and it was very fascinating  to see how they interact, and we start to see how Christian is so full of so much depth it can be confusing at times, but he is a very strong and appealing hero and you can’t help but want to hug him at times. Even though Christian seems to know many things, there is one thing he has a hard time with….Love, which is something that Ana is more than willing to show Christian. I also love how at first Ana seems like a very passive and submissive at first, but we start to see how full of strength and courage she has, and she is far from submissive, she is exactly what Christian needs. I definitely shed a tear or two, watching their love grow and sparkle. I have to say overall I just fell in love with this powerful love story that just takes your breath away.

Q: If you could “unread” a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

I would have to say Dark Secret by Christine Feehan, I have loved every one of her Carpathian Series except for this book… just felt that by the end I wished I had never picked it up. Most books I have read I have enjoyed for the most part, but this book is probably the one I like the least.

Waiting On Wednesday (52)

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating. This week I’m waiting on, Coming Out July 31 2012

Funny and feisty witch Jolie Wilkins is back—or rather, she’s back to her humble beginnings. Propelled into the past to her old Los Angeles fortune-telling shop, Jolie has no idea she possesses extraordinary powers, and she definitely doesn’t remember becoming Queen of the Underworld. But at least she has two incredibly sexy men vying for her affection: Rand Balfour, who looks very familiar, though Jolie can’t place his gorgeous face, and Sinjin Sinclair, who is tall, dark, and perfect . . . except for the fangs.

Yet despite her steamy love life, Jolie can’t shake the sense that something is not quite right—like she’s stuck in a déjà vu gone terribly awry. As both men race against time—and each other—to win Jolie’s heart, the fate of the Underworld hangs in the balance. And Jolie’s decision can either restore order or create an absolute, drop-dead disaster.

Winter Makepeace lives a double life. By day he’s the stoic headmaster of a home for foundling children. But the night brings out a darker side of Winter. As the moon rises, so does the Ghost of St. Giles-protector, judge, fugitive. When the Ghost, beaten and wounded, is rescued by a beautiful aristocrat, Winter has no idea that his two worlds are about to collide.

Lady Isabel Beckinhall enjoys nothing more than a challenge. Yet when she’s asked to tutor the Home’s dour manager in the ways of society-flirtation, double-entendres, and scandalous liaisons-Isabel can’t help wondering why his eyes seem so familiar-and his lips so tempting.

During the day Isabel and Winter engage in a battle of wills. At night their passions are revealed . . . But when little girls start disappearing from St. Giles, Winter must avenge them. For that he might have to sacrifice everything-the Home, Isabel . . . and his life.

My Review

Winter Makespeace, lives a double life, one life during the daylight where he is the manager of Home for lost children of St. Giles, and the other life during the moonlit night, where he goes out looking for the innocent children, but his life becomes threatened when Lady Isabel shows up on the scene. Isabel, is charged by the committee to polish Winter Makepeace and if she is unable to he will be replaced. After seeing the way he cares about the children, she knows its his life’s work, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to make him see reason. However Winter is more stubborn than she gave his credit for, and she knows it will take all her iron will to match his stubborness. But when a danger lurks to threaten their future, only their love for each other will see them through to the end….

The Hero (Winter Makepeace)
Winter, has dedicated his whole life to the children of St. Giles, now that they have built up a good and decent roof over their heads, its his job to make sure it stays that way. Even though he lives a life that is secret from everyone, even those who he loves…but he knows its the only way to keep them safe. Winter is a very strong willed, stubborn, but is very protective when it comes to the innocent and will do all he can to protect them…..and when Isabel appears in his life, at first he is very annoyed, but he soon finds she is too irresistable to resist.

The Heroine (Isabel Beckinhall)
Isabel, is charmed when she see’s the way Winter is around the children at the home….and she soon see’s the type of man he is. A man who is very passionate about everything in his life, including their affair. At first Isabel’s desire for Winter is overwhelming and she gives in to the pleasure of his kiss, but when girls start disappearing in St. Giles, she becomes not only his partner in bed but in solving this mystery….

My Thoughts
Elizabeth Hoyt is one of my favorite authors, I recently discovered her last year, and ever since have just felt charmed by her love stories, and Thief of Shadows was no different. In previous books we have seen Winter and I was thrilled to have the chance to read his story….Winter is both complicated and simple at times. He is a charmer among the ladies, very stubborn and protective over his charges, and has dedicated his life to them even over love and marriage. Isabel is a perfect match for Winter, because she is the only woman that could ever bring him up to scratch. Thief Of Shadows was a beauitfully written story, which was a wonderful mix of romance, mystery, passion, and an exciting plot that will definitely keep the reader on their toes. I think what I loved the most about this book, was how wonderfully woven the characters were sewn into the story, one can’t help but be endeared by them. A Charming Love Story!!!!

Book Review-My Wicked Marquess

My Wicked Marquess
The Inferno Club (1)
Gaelen Foley
Avon Romance
Published July 2009
373 Pages
Regency Historical Romance

To restore family honor the Marquess of Rotherstone faces his most dangerous mission–finding the perfect bride . . .

To London’s aristocracy, the Inferno Club is a scandalous society of men no proper young lady would acknowledge. But though they are publicly notorious for pursuing all manner of debauchery, in private they are warriors who would do anything to protect king and country.

The Marquess of Rotherstone has decided it’s time to restore the family’s good name. But as a member of the Inferno Club, he knows there is only one way to redeem himself in Society’s eyes: marry a lady of impeccable beauty and breeding, whose reputation is, above all, spotless.

Someone quite unlike Daphne Starling. True, she’s temptingly lovely, but a jilted suitor has nearly ruined her reputation. Still, Max cannot resist her allure–or the challenge of proving London’s gossips wrong. He would do anything to win her hand . . . and show that even a wicked marquess can make a perfect husband.

My Review
Now that Max is back from his mission in europe with his time, he feels its time to settle down, get married and have a family, especially after giving the majority of his life in service to his country. At first he has a list of potential future wives that would suit his needs, that is, until he see’s Daphne Starling, and he knows that she will be His. Even though Daphne has recently been jilted, he is drawn to her in a way that even he can’t explain to himself. Daphne, has recently nearly been ruined by a past suitor, and she doesn’t know what her future holds, until she meets the Marquess of Rotherstone, who is very charming and seductive, and she knows she could easily fall under his spell, and although they share an intimacy she has never known, she just doesn’t know if she can trust him, when she knows he is hiding something from her……

The Hero (Max, Marquess of Rotherstone)
Max, was bartered when he was a child to the government to be trained as the perfect spy and killer. Max has never been close to his family because he felt betrayed and has a hard time learning how to trust again. When he finally returns home to England, he knows its time to find a wife and secure his title. Even though he is looking for a woman with a pristine reputation and breeding, he is stunned to discover that all his attention is drawn toward a woman who is captivating, and although there is a scandal surrounding her, he knows that there is something special about her despite what the gossips’ say.

The Heroine (Daphne Starling)
Daphne, feels like she is a burden to her family, especially her father. Ever since she lost her mother at a young age, she has only had her father to lean on…however when Max starts to show an interest in her, she knows that she may not have a choice but to except his offer, even though deep down she knows he is holding something back from her, and only when she knows that truth about his real intentions will she take him seriously….and the feelings she has for him

My Thoughts
Since I have been reading the series out of order, I have been wanting to read Max’s story, and I was so glad that I did. The only real negative aspect of the story…was that it took a bit to get into the book, but once I did I was really into it, and it was just as fun and enticing as Foley’s other works. It was interesting to see Max develop in the story, much more than we see Daphne develop. Max has alot against him, much of which he kinda does to himself a bit, but it was neat to see him change from a sexy but aloof and withdrawn man, to someone that is what Daphne really needs.  Another aspect that I really liked was the way Max and Daphne connected, very intense and sensual yet had a perfect balance of excitement and romance to even it all out…a very enjoyable read!

But it was then that he knew with an electric certainty deep in the core of him that the rest of Oliver’s bride list was irrelevant.
He knew he had found the one. And as he held her gaze, a single, searing thought filled his mind, body and soul, and whispered to her soundlessly: You’re Mine
