Synopsis
The last woman on earth he would ever touch . . .

Declan, the Duke of Banbury, has no interest in ushering Rosalie Hughes, his stepsister, into society. Dumped on him with nowhere else to go, he’s determined to rid himself of the headstrong debutante by bestowing on her an obscenely large dowry . . . making her the most sought-after heiress of the Season.

. . . is about to become the only one he wants.

But Rosalie isn’t about to go along with Declan’s plans. Surrounded by fortune hunters, how is she supposed to find a man who truly wants her? Taking control of her fate, Rosalie dons a disguise and sneaks into Sodom, a private club host to all manner of illicit activity—and frequented by her infuriatingly handsome stepbrother.

In a shadowed alcove, Declan can’t resist the masked temptress who sets his blood afire . . . any more than Rosalie can deny her longing for a man who will send her into ruin.

My Review

Rosalie Hughes knows that she has no alternative but to go to her step brothers home in London, since she has no other place to go. Her mother left her at a school years ago and Rosalie hasn’t been able to reach her, and Declan is the only one she knows she can reach out to, not knowing the kind of reunion it will be. When they were younger Rosalie would get into all sorts of mischief and Declan was always there. Even now there is a part of her that loves him. Declan is not the same man that once climbed into trees with Rosalie and swam in the ponds. He has changed, and her mother is the reason. Only Declan knows the truth that changed him forever. Now he is the Duke of Branbury and he is a rake of the highest order. While coming home with a group of friends and ladies of the night, he comes across a figure in his sitting room…a young woman he hasn’t seen in years. Even now he tries to block his feelings for her, but it seems that his heart is stronger than his will and he can’t help but fall for this woman that held his heart years ago. Now he will need to make a choice, a choice that could imprison him or free him…

This story is the first book in the latest series by Sophie Jordan. Sophie Jordan is a personal favorite of mine and I always know that I will love her, and I adored this one. I just flew through this story because I just couldn’t get enough of it, and when it sadly ended I was satisfied but thinking “its over already??”  There is such sensuality to this story and oh boy enough to curl your toes with pure bliss!!! I LOVED it!!! The epitome of what I love in a solid regency romance. Not many authors can write like Jordan can and a SOLID A++++ to this author. What a winner of a story.

The story begins with Rosalie having no place to go, so Declan being a rogue and rake is rude and intolerant but can’t kick her out, something holds him back. So he decides to bring his aunt and cousin to his bachelor home to act as chaperone’s and introduce her into society so he can get her wedded and out of his hair. Rosalie is tired of orders and not having any joy or any say in her own life especially from Declan, who is so different from the boy she played with and followed around. So she decides to dress in disguise and go to a notorious night club “Sodom”, where she can find a man who will kiss her with desire. The man she finds unexpectedly….Declan….a man she has dreamed about and when he kisses her with such passion she is lost.

I loved the relationship between these two….it definitely has its rocky hills and jagged cliffs in the relationship….but what a sunset there is at the end!! These two are a hoot and I adored both of them and they seemed just right for each other. They definitely know how to make fireworks pop and what a engaging story this was!! The chemistry between them is electric….sizzling, sweet, tender and powerful!! There are so many scenes that pull you in further in the story. From the first page you will be hooked…line and sinker.  I couldn’t put it down at all…I was having way too much fun with this one. It just makes me want to read the rest of this authors books that I have yet to read. This story was a treasure to read….with jewels of characters, a golden romance to enchant you…..and from beginning to end it will DAZZLE!!!

Synopsis
Sophie Barnes does it again in this sizzling Regency-set romance where anything can happen at the Kingsborough Ball…

Lucien Marvaine never thought he was good enough for Katherine. As the younger son of an earl, he didn’t have a title or prospects. Then fate steps in and gives him a second chance, and this new Earl of Roxbury is determined to make the beautiful Kate his own . . . one touch . . . one kiss at a time.

Katherine never thought of herself as a temptress, certainly not with Lucien. Why, she’s known him almost all her life! Yet as she waltzes in Lucien’s arms at the Kingsborough Ball, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Has he always been this hard and masculine? And where did those dimples come from? Kate is not looking for a husband . . . but how can she not surrender to Lucien’s charms when love is at stake?

My Review

Lucien Marvaine, as the second son, never though he would ever have the chance to win Katherine. He always knew that she deserved more, a heir and a man that could give her a title. Lucien has always loved Katherine, ever since they were children playing together, to close friends, and even more. So he decides to join the army and leave Katherine, but when he returns, he meets up with Katherine once more, who is widowed with a six month old daughter. Katherine has no desire for another marriage, the one she had was horrible and disastrous, and the only good that came from it was her precious girl. When Lucien starts courting her once more, Katherine is afraid that once he sees the real her he will be shamed by her. She doesn’t want to risk his scorn. But Lucien is persistent and unwavering in his desire for her and will stop at nothing to have her, but Lucien will have a battle to win and like in any war, he will use any weapon at his disposal to seduce her and show her the true heart…

The Danger In Tempting An Earl was a charming and poignant story that won me over. I have read the second book in the series and loved it. The Danger in Tempting An Earl was endearing from beginning to end. It had quite a emotional tune to the story that balanced it out and I loved the way that Sophie Barnes used a unique set of characters and the setting to write a romance to warm your heart.

The story begins with Katherine and Lucien sharing a carriage together on their way to the Kingsborough ball. We see a friendly interaction between them if a bit strained from their time apart. Then the romance starts to slowly blossoms at the ball where Lucien comes up with a plan to make Katherine fall in love with him. A cunning plan that puts a new spin on the story, one that is quite entertaining, seeing these two circle each other without getting very close to each other yet. Their story is a dance of sorts, and the romance doesn’t exactly begin with fireworks, but slow wooing and I loved how patient Lucien is with Katherine. He doesn’t know the full extent of her reasons for not wanting marriage, but he is determined to win her no matter what. There is such determination and fierceness in his passion for her and I loved how he isn’t willing to back down. Katherine is way stubborn, and after you read all of the story, you start to understand her reasons and the why of it, but you tend to get a bit impatient with her character especially when her stubbornness is worse than a mule. I loved the way these two end up together, and the way it had such a satisfying ring at the end. Charming and delightful!!! Excited to read more from this author.!!!!

My Candidate For The Week
Rose is the first book in the Seven Brothers and a realistic and tender western romance. Leigh Greenwood is a male romance author, and this is one of my favorite series.

“I realized a few days ago I didn’t know what love was. To me love was helpless, suffocating, painful. It wasn’t until [she] came that I realized that love was strong, that it meant standing up for yourself, saying things nobody wanted to hear. I also know it means giving of yourself because it makes somebody else happy. I don’t know if I love [her]. For a while I was sure I didn’t, but now I’m not sure. I know I need her, that I can’t imagine living the rest of my life without her. Is that love? I think it’s part of it. I know I want her. She comforts my spirit and body as nothing ever has. That’s a part of love, too. I also know I’m never as happy as I am when I’m with her.”
“You sound like you’re obsessed.”
“Maybe that’s also part of love. I don’t know, but I’m going to learn. It’s embarrassing sometimes. I feel like a child. But I learn a little something every day. It’s like a whole new way of living. It’s a willingness to give up control. To make a commitment and have faith it’ll work out.”
“It sounds like you’ve gone crazy”
“Maybe that’s part of it, too. Whatever it is, it’s something I want more than I ever thought possible. And she is the only one who can teach me. I’m not giving her up, no matter what it costs me.”
“Hell . . .You are in love with her.”

Synopsis
Scotland’s King Robert the Bruce is retaking his kingdom from the invading English. To win, he’ll need all the grit and courage of his elite band of warriors, the Highland Guard, men who fight without fear and love without limits.

Fiery, aggressive, and bold, Kenneth Sutherland is a true champion—skilled with any weapon and driven to win. Now Kenneth is ready for his greatest challenge: joining Robert the Bruce’s secret army to fight among the elite. Kenneth’s best chance to attain that honor is by winning the Highland Games. Focused and prepared for victory, he is caught off guard by a lovely wisp of a woman—and a stolen moment of wicked seduction. Her innocent arousal and her shameless hunger fire his blood. He will win his place in the guard—and in Mary of Mar’s bed.

The ruggedly handsome hero-in-the-making stirs a heart that should know better. Mary vows that her surrender will be sport only—no promises, no heartbreak, just one night of incredible passion. Nothing, she swears, will persuade her to give up her hard-wrought independence and put her fate in the hands of another powerful man. But with every gentle touch and heart-pounding kiss, Kenneth makes her want more. Now Mary wants his heart. But is this determined champion willing to surrender everything for love?

My Review

Kenneth Sutherland is a skilled warrior, and wants to be in the Highland Guard more than anything. He is willing to fight and do whatever it takes to reach his goal. He believes in the fight for Scotland’s freedom, and fighting to join the elite warriors will be the greatest battle he will fight. His chance to prove himself to the elite warriors and Bruce, will be at the Highland games. He is so focused on his determination to win, he gets stunned upon meeting Mary of Mar. Mary is a widow, and was used by her husband, and the son she never got a chance to mother, barely knows her but she is determined to have him in her life again. When she attends the Highland Games to appeal to Bruce, she finds the most gorgeous specimen making passionate love to a woman. Mary’s experience was short and swift and more painful than pleasurable. But when Kenneth pursues her she resists the temptation of a night in his arms. Soon his sensual embraces make her want to risk everything even her heart, just to have him in her life for a short moment. But will Kenneth pursue the one woman that holds his heart?

The Recruit is the sixth book in the Highland Guard series.  The Recruit is a story that is a bit different than the others that I have read, but one of my top favorites. The way this author writes her romances is simply magical!! You can never go wrong with Monica McCarty, from the very first page you are instantly pulled in. I love that I know that when I read this author, I know that it will be a compelling story and I won’t have any problem getting into it.  So for those that have never read this author…YOU ARE MISSING OUT!! I guarantee that once you pick up this author, you will fall in love!! 🙂 There is nothing that you won’t like about her stories. They are the epitome of what makes a romance story superb!!

The story starts out with seeing Mary and how determined she is to survive, despite the betrayal of her husband, and the loss of her son. Mary was a character I came to admire so much. Strong willed, caring and passionate about life. She craves love but knows she will probably never have it. Then Mary and Kenneth meet and fireworks. Kenneth is like a bull dozer when it comes to something that he wants, and he wants Mary. The exchange between Kenneth and Mary is priceless, and thus begins a rocky romance. This story is packed with ups and downs, and seeing the rewards of fighting for what you believe. I loved the vital emotion that just erupts from this story and threatens to consume the reader! So much intensity and passion, and a love story to break your heart. A sizzling tale of desire, determination, and fighting for the one you love~~STUNNING!!
