Regina Talbot-Jones has always known her rambling family home was haunted. She also knows her brother has invited one of his friends to attend an ill-conceived séance. She didn’t count on that friend being so handsome… and she certainly didn’t expect him to be a dragon.
Scottish Highlander Colin MacAlasdair has hidden his true nature for his entire life, but the moment he sets eyes on Regina, he knows he has to have her. In his hundreds of years, he’s never met a woman who could understand him so thoroughly… or touch him so deeply. Bound by their mutual loneliness, drawn by the fire awakening inside of them, Colin and Regina must work together to defeat a vengeful spirit – and discover whether their growing love is powerful enough to defy convention.

My Review

I received a ARC copy in exchange for a honest review, thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca.
I have always loved paranormal historical romances…a mixture of my two favorite sub genres in romance, but I hate to say that I had a hard time with this one. There were some aspects that I enjoyed, aspects that was different and unique in a way that really pulls you in at the beginning, but when I got to the middle of the book, I really had to force my way through portions of it, because I did want to find out how these find their HEA. This author can be a hit or miss for me, and this story really felt off for me, and so I had a difficult time keeping my attention on the story, I felt like the consistency of the writing was a little off, and that threw me off kilter as I was reading. The story is pretty well set up and I enjoyed seeing the paranormal element mixed in with it, a element of not just a shifter dragon (who is sexy hot!) but also of haunting ghosts, as I was reading this I kept thinking that I wished that I had been able to read this during “All Hallows Eve” the theme of the story would have been perfect. I did like the characters, they added some fun elements to the plot, and they were the reason I wanted to keep going…I loved this pair and seeing them together was enchanting. Overall, even though the story didn’t fully meet my expectations, there were many exciting and sensual moment that were engaging, with paranormal twists and turns….STUNNING!
