Synopsis
New York Times bestselling author Liz Carlyle creates her darkest, most sensuous story yet, as a delectable but desperate governess runs headlong into the path of a notorious rake…

Women rarely refuse the wicked Earl of Hepplewood, whose daring exploits are only whispered about. But when his new governess answers his proposition with a slap, then stalks out, references in hand, Hepplewood finds more than his face is burning.

Isabella Aldridge has brains, bravado, and beauty—but the latter is no use to a servant. Her circumstances are desperate, and with Hepplewood’s words ringing in her ears, Isabella realizes she must barter her most marketable asset . . . her body.

But when fate sends Isabella back into Hepplewood’s arms, the earl must make an impossible choice—draw Isabella down into his sensual darkness, or behave with honor for the first time in his life.

My Review

Isabella Aldridge has been raising two girls that shes related to because they had no one else to turn to. Isabella is determined to support them, even though they are barely scraping by, and she needs a change and soon. When she goes in for a interview for a governess position, she is faced with the Earl of Hepplewood. Anthony lives a life of debauchery and doesn’t mind being wicked and when the lovely Isabella comes into his office, he attempts to seduce her but she flees from him. Isabella is shocked and angry with Anthony, all she wants is to be able to do what she loves, and not feel like a plaything…even though for the first time Anthony makes her feel desire and temptation. When she realizes that she will have no choice but to be a man’s mistress because she has two young girls who are relying on her…she ends up back with Anthony, and is shocked that she will have to submit to him. But Anthony will have to decide on a future with Isabella or to leave the only woman that has shown him love.

The Earl’s Mistress is the first book I have ever read from this author, but over the years I have heard and read some amazing things about this author, so I was going into this one with high hopes but it wasn’t what I expected at all. I think I was expecting the type of historical romance that I have about in her other books, but there were certain elements to the story that really blew me away. I wanted to love this one…and the plot was solid and consistent, and the story really pulls the reader in but I almost felt like I was reading a portion of Fifty Shades. Now I am super super picky about any bdsm elements and I just can’t stand it in historical romances. I feel like in contemporaries it fits it sometimes, but in a time period where that wasn’t the norm at all, It didn’t feel very realistic at all. If it wasn’t for the setting of the story I would almost think it was more of a contemporary romance. And there are times when the bondage element in historical’s is light enough not to effect the plot…but this one did for me. I just couldn’t like it enough because the bdsm element was way stronger than you would think. It just didn’t fit the profile of the characters much and it left me out of sync.

Even though I would have loved to give this book a higher rating because it did have a great writing style and if the bdsm element hadn’t been there or had a light tone, I probably would have adored it more, but it just threw me off and I almost wanted to just skip it and read the ending. But I figured I needed to trudge my way through this one. There was some other elements that I did like about it though. I loved Isabella as a character–for the most part. She was a bit indecisive but it made sense, and I loved her perseverance and strength and she had such a fierce fighting spirit that was contagious. So if you like the bdsm elements than you will love this one. If you don’t than I would caution you on this one. It might not be for everyone, especially if you are looking for a authentic historical. Despite my experience with this one, I do plan on reading some of her earlier books and see how they compare.

Overall a story that is rich in writing, excitement it the plot, and characters that you can delve into.

Synopsis
Lord Lukas Hawkins, the rakish second son of the House of Trent, has never found a wager he couldn’t win or a woman he couldn’t seduce—until his search for his missing mother leads him to a mysterious encounter with a beautiful stranger.

Luke’s mother has been missing for months, and while his honorable older brother Simon, Duke of Trent, leads the official investigation from London, Luke sets out on a somewhat seedier path. Sources have told him his mother was last seen with a scoundrel named Roger Morton, but their association isn’t clear. Was she kidnapped or did she go willingly?

While searching for Morton, Luke meets Emma Anderson, a secretive beauty with her own reasons for hunting Morton. At first Luke laughs at the idea of allowing a woman to join him in his search, but soon Emma’s insights into Morton—like the woman herself—prove impossible to resist.

My Review

I was able to receive this ARC through Netgalley and Forever publishing. Ever since I first read Season of Seduction I have been addicted to this author’s storytelling. The Rogue’s Proposal is the second in the series, and I was thrilled to be able to have a chance to read this one, especially after seeing all of the fantastic rating, and having now read it, I can see why so many have enjoyed it so much. The Rogue’s proposal took me a bit longer to get read, since with the holiday, I have been busy with family, but I finally was able to finish it. The story begins with our hero Luke and our heroine, Emma meeting in a less than respectable inn both searching for the same man. A heated desire flares between them instantly. Emma is after revenge for a man who murdered her husband and took her fathers money, and she needs it returned to save her family from destitution.  Luke is searching for his mother, who has been missing for months, and is following the latest lead. The first moment Luke sees Emma, he wants her with a desperation. Luke desires to teach her passion but believes himself to be the worst sort of man, and doesn’t want to hurt her in that way. Emma is aching to be in Luke’s arms, and before either one of them realize it, they are both swept away by a blinding passion and some dark secrets that could destroy everything.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with The Rogue’s Proposal. It definitely was a sensual read that will sweep the reader away into the passionate love story that is guaranteed to captivate you. In the beginning the story the characters are acting out a seduction of sorts with each other. They are working together, searching for the same man, but at the same time there is a powerful connection from their first meeting. The characters were fun and I enjoyed seeing Luke and a more personal side to him. From the first book, I always liked him, and he was probably one of my favorites of the siblings. But seeing him as the main character, my heart went out to him. He has had a tough time in his life, but the way Emma comes strolling into his life, and is able to teach him of love and gentleness- it ended up being a story of intrigue, adventure and a fierce passion that could heat the room. A Sensational romance that kept me on my toes, and a plot to keep you guessing, and a love story that will curl your body. The heat in the story is flaming, and I will warn you there is a bit of a Bondage element in it, but overall a fantastic read!!! This author keeps astounding me with her writing talent!! Bravo!  TOP NOTCH ROMANCE!!

My Review
So I am not one to usually pick up an Erotic Romance unless its a author request, however since this has reached the top of bestseller lists, I thought I would try them out….and after starting the first one yesterday and I just finished the third, I found myself totally addicted to the story, plot, characters and everything between. At first I had heard both good and bad and it took me a while to get the courage to read them….and now I think I understand why its so popular….its definitely different from other erotica that I have read. As you read more into the series it starts to seem more of a contemporary romance with a erotic edge to it. There was something very stimulating and exciting about the story and Ana and Christian.  I think I have to say that after reading the first book I wondered if I would like the 2nd and the 3rd and it just kept getting better, and we see more of a romance and a intense plot, which is the type that I enjoy. I didn’t really like the bdsm aspect of it so much, although there were certain parts that was very intriguing.  Anastasia, is very innocent and naive especially with anything sexual, whereas Christian has more than enough experience with his sexuality, and it was very fascinating  to see how they interact, and we start to see how Christian is so full of so much depth it can be confusing at times, but he is a very strong and appealing hero and you can’t help but want to hug him at times. Even though Christian seems to know many things, there is one thing he has a hard time with….Love, which is something that Ana is more than willing to show Christian. I also love how at first Ana seems like a very passive and submissive at first, but we start to see how full of strength and courage she has, and she is far from submissive, she is exactly what Christian needs. I definitely shed a tear or two, watching their love grow and sparkle. I have to say overall I just fell in love with this powerful love story that just takes your breath away.
