Synopsis
#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all — ten years in the making.

In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.

Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

My Review

Skyler is determined to save the life of her lifemate. When suddenly one day, with their strong connection, she senses incredible pain from him, and then senses nothing. Then she learns that he has been kidnapped by the lycans, but the leaders of the Carpathians refuse to tell her anything, so she decides to take matters in her own hands. If no one will save him, then she certainly will. With the aid of her two closest friends Josef and Paul, who will do everything they can to save his life. Even though Skler is only nineteen, emotionally she is much older than that. She has suffered more abuse and pain than most could even imagine. Dimitri is her lifemate, and over the years since she first met him, he has been her rock and foundation. They have formed such a strong bond that even amazes most Carpathian couples. Now that Dimitri is in trouble, Skler knows its up to her to get to him. No Lycan would dare suspect a innocent girl to mount a rescue operation. Skyler is willing to risk everything to have Dimitri fully in her life, no matter the cost….

Dark Wolf is the most recent addition to the Carpathian or also known as “Dark” series. Now some have given up on this series, or moved on to other authors, however I haven’t. There is something genuine, creative and unique about Feehan’s writing and the worlds that she creates. Ever since “Dark Legend” when we first see Skyler, I have kept a eye out for her. There has always been something about her characters that has strung me along. Dark Wolf is a story that I have been waiting years for. And now finally it has come, and I bought this book the first moment I could. And had the hardest time focusing on work, just wanting to get back to read Dark Wolf. The first half or even 3/4 is pretty intense and suspenseful and instantly grabs the attention of the reader. I literally had to use all my self control to put this one down. Its rare when I find a book that pulls me in so completely, I could care less about eating or working or living until I have read it!! LOL Lets just say this book just wasn’t long enough. It ended way too soon for me.

I have to say that after reading Dark Wolf, I am almost satisfied. About 90% of me is totally well satisfied as a cat with a bowl of cream with how this story turned out. I loved seeing Skler grow and develop in this story. My main problem was I felt her growth happened way too quickly from who she was at the beginning of the book. I did enjoy seeing Skyer a young woman who has suffered many horrors, gather her strength to save the one man she loves more than life itself. She goes behind her parents back (whom she adores almost more than anything). And of course we see Josef and Paul. Now Josef, oh boy, I do hope he gets his own book. I know he is still very young, but we so much of him and Paul in this one, that you find yourself fascinated with this characters, more than ever before. This trio are as alike as they are different. They are pretty much inseparable, and somehow Dimitri is fine with Skyler have a close relationship with the two. (which pretty much wowed me considering how Alpha male Dimitri is). One of my favorite parts of this story is seeing these three young trio accomplish things that most adult Carpathians would have a hard time doing.

There was quite a bit of action, you might have to tie yourself to your seat or the couch, or the bed, or wherever you may be reading. There is quite a high level of intensity, that will definitely give you chills (but in a very good way) Dark Wolf is a magical story of doing the impossible to save the one you love more than anything. A tale of sacrifice, devotion, passion and a powerful love story to make you feel as if you are falling in love for the first time. TRULY MAGNIFICENT!!! If you have been waiting for Dimitri and Skylers story….GET IT NOW!!! You won’t be disappointed.

Synopsis
A DARK STORM IS ON THE HORIZON…Return to Christine Feehan’s “steamy and dreamy” (Publishers Weekly) world of her New York Times bestselling Carpathian novels as roiling passions collide in a perfect storm of dangerous desire that only a precious few can hope to outrun…

Awakening after all this time in a world of absolute darkness and oppressive heat, Dax wonders in how many ways the world above must have changed. But it is how he has changed that fills him with dread and loathing. Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in the Carpathian Mountains, Dax fears that he has become the full-fledged abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries.

But there are some things that never change.

His name is Mitro, the vampire Dax had hunted all these long centuries. Second in command to the prince of the Carpathian people he is the epitome of everything malevolent, and perpetrator of one of the most shocking killing sprees known to man—and beast. Even his friends and family weren’t safe from Mitro’s bloodlust. Neither was Mitro’s lifemate, Arabejila, an extraordinary woman with extraordinary gifts.

But now that Dax has re-emerged, so too has Mitro. The ultimate battle between good and evil has been re-engaged. Between Dax and Mitro, a violent game has begun—one that has marked Riley Parker, the last descendent of Arabejila, as the reward.

My Review
Summary
Dax has been trapped inside a volcano in South America for the past 500 years. Dax has been hunting Mitro for hundreds of years, and has now woken up. He has spent quite some time in this volcano, and has been able to, with some outside help, keep Mitro trapped here. Mitro once had a lifemate, Arabejila, who helped Dax hunt down Mitro and her descendents have been keeping Mitro trapped inside the volcano.  But when Mitro manages to escape, Dax ends up bonding his soul with a powerful dragon, and chases after Mitro and vows to destroy him, now having enough power to do so. Riley Parker, has recently lost her father, and trying to keep her mother from drifting away from her, they head on their regular trip every five years down to a land of their ancestors, to visit a volcano. Riley has no idea why its so important to always be coming down every five years, all she knows is how important it is. The closer and closer they get to the volcano, it starts to become evident that there is a evil stalking them, trying to kill her mother, which is slowing them down. When they finally reach their destination, Mitro ends up escaping and Riley comes across a man that is unlike any man she has ever known. A powerful being, that has been hunting Mitro for many years, and she discovers is her destiny. A man that see’s her for who she truly is  and shows her a world she never imagined existed.

The Hero (Dunutdaxton AKA Dax)
Dax, was born a carpathian even though currently he has changed into something very different. Dax has always had the ability since he was young, to sense the darkness in other Carpathian males, and knew whether or not they had turned or if they were close to turning evil. However most of his people never believed his claims. When Mitro, a friend of his, ends up having a lifemate, he thought he was safe. However when Mitro ends up becoming a vampire, and killing all that stands in his way, Dax knows what his duty is. So ever since he has hunted him, and after hundreds of years he hasn’t been able to until he finds himself bonded with a very old dragon. When he finds his lifemate, Riley, he feels like he must protect her at all costs, but she makes him believe in himself again, and to trust in love.

The Heroine (Riley Parker)
Riley, is a descendent of Arebejila, along with her mother, who is very powerful and has a connection to the earth. Now Riley has inherited the same gifts, and feels such a strong connection to the earth. But when on their journey to the volcano, she finds that Mitro has escaped and now she and her party are in more danger than ever. When she meets Dax, she is overwhelmed with feelings of desire and a sense of danger. He awakens something within her, and gives her the courage to fight along side him to hunt Mitro down and destroy him for good.

My Thoughts
Dark Storms is the most recent in the Carpathian series, and I really liked this newest addition. Not as good as the earlier books, but was still a fun and enjoyable read. Dark Storm was a bit different than her other books in the series. For one we have never dealt with a volcano in her series before, so it was nice reading a scenery that was a bit different. I also liked how there was a dragon aspect added to the hero. I really liked how not only was Dax a powerful Carpathian but he also had his soul combined with a dragons (which I thought was so neat), so he is even more powerful than before. I also enjoyed Riley as the heroine, she is very independent and likes things her own way, but she easily accepts Dax into her life, and doesn’t fight her feelings for him. She accepts Dax as he is, and accepts being his lifemate, and I just loved her sense of adventure and fun. I also enjoyed how Dax is not all “he man” and knows how powerful Riley is, and knows that she is key to helping him defeat Mitro. I also loved the chemistry between Dax and Riley, as usual with Feehan, very hot and sexy. One other aspect I enjoyed was seeing some other characters we have seen in other books (such as Gary and Jubal), playing a very active role as well. The one thing that I didn’t like very much about the story, was that it didn’t start out very excited. We don’t see Dax and Riley meet for quite some time. It was almost half way through before we see them interact with each other. So I had to be patient, even though there were some action scenes that happen during this time, then it gets really good in the middle once Riley and Dax explore their relationship more and start their hunt for Mitro. Overall a thrilling and exciting new installment in the Carpathian Series. Even though in the past few years I haven’t necessarily loved the later part of the series, I found myself really liking this one, and it has been quite some time since I have felt this way about her series. Definitely a fun tale of adventure, love mixed with danger that will leave you breathless.

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Dominic, has gone through his existence alone and as one of the most powerful Carpathians he knows what better way to go down than with honor, so he ingests himself with parasitic blood so that he can blend in with the other vampires, and accomplish his mission that he set out to do. The Hero (Dominic)
Dominic, is of Dragonseeker blood, one of the most powerful lineages of all time. Dominic is an ancient warrior, and throughout all of the centuries has never found his lifemate until now….right when he is about to sacrifice his life he finds her and doesn’t know if he will have enough strength of will to let her go when she is the very half of him….

The Heroine (Solange Sangria )

My Thoughts
Dark Peril is the 21st in the Dark series. I have just loved reading this series, and although I did enjoy reading Dark Peril it wasn’t my favorite but still a intriguing read. I loved the whole edge in the story where they both plan to die but right before they do so their life mate comes into their lives—interesting timing wouldnt you say? The passion between Dominic and Solange is full of heat and spiraling desire that only intensifies the connection between the two. What I have always enjoyed about Feehan’s books is the vivid pictures she brings to life and she definitely brought this story to life as well. Overall it was a enjoyable read, not one that I would buy or re read, but it was still a book to relax myself in.

MY REVIEW

Destiny, as a child suffered and was tortured and abused by a vampire, and then turned by him, but there is still good within her, even though she thinks she is evil, having to kill to survive. There is one man, a carpathian, who has always suffered right with her, and been her light, but there is a great part of her that doesn’t believe she deserves any joy or love in her life. Hoping that once she learns to trust him, that she will come to love him…

The Hero (Nicolae Von Schreider)
Nicolae, has suffered through the centuries, but has always had his brother at his side. Having been one of the old warriors that was under Mikhail’s father, he has fought long and hard through the long years, and is powerful, of the old world, and very much Alpha in many ways. But when a little girl’s cries reaches him, he connects to her, helping her, all the while searching for her, and when he realizes that she is his lifemate, he will stop at nothing to keep her in his life.

The Heroine (Destiny)
Destiny, ever since she was six years old, was tricked and her family was killed, and she was abused in many ways, and then turned by him, and even though she isn’t a vampiress, but a Carpathian, there is still a evil poison in her, and she is always in pain. Destiny doesn’t believe that she doesn’t deserve any goodness in her life, for having had to kill to survive through the years. But she makes a friend -Mary Ann Delayney, who teaches her to accept who she really is, and to strive to heal and learn to accept and feel love…..

My Thoughts
Dark Destiny is the thirteenth book in the Carpathian Series by Christine Feehan. I have read this book before but it has been a while since I have, and I have to say its one of my favorites. Its so emotionally compellling to the reader, that you can’t put it down. Destiny is the kind of character that can almost break your heart, so easy to relate with, despite the fact that she can fight vampires, there is a side of her that doesn’t believe in herself, but then she meets her best friend Mary Ann and then Nicolae her lifemate, and we start to see how she starts to heal and learns how to truly love and be loved. There were quite a few times that I cried, and at other times just laughing at the interaction between Destiny and Nicolae. Nicolae, is the kind of man any woman could fall for, and he is pretty dreamy in this book. Even though he can be controlling at time, and all Alpha Male, he takes his time with Destiny, more patient than most of the other males in this series. Overall this is on the top of the list in favorites of this series, of course it can be hard because I have loved every one of her books, however the story and the characters were endearing, and the plot thrilling, and I there wasn’t one moment that I was bored, defintely a worthwhile read. A most emotionally empowering, engaging book that I have read in a long time, and I LOVED it!!!

My Favorite Quote
Her heart was so full, she was afraid it might burst. She had never dared to dream she would have a home and a family. She had never conceived of having friends. Life might never be perfect, but she had Nicolae, and he would always understand those terrible moments when the memories crept out from behind the doors in her mind. He would be there to hold her and help her.

Dark Celebration
Carpathian Series
Christine Feehan
Berkley
372 Pages
Published October 2007
Paranormal Romance
ISBN: 0425211673

Synopsis:
With her erotically charged Carpathian tales, Christine Feehan has enthralled a legion of fans, captivated by a seductive world and the unforgettable characters–both human and not–who inhabit it. Now, she reunites all of them in a Dark Celebration…

After centuries as the prince of the Carpathians, Mikhail Dubrinsky fears he can’t protect his people for long from their greatest threat: the extinction of their species at the hands of their immortal enemies–who are devising a scheme to slaughter Carpathian females. But even with his own lifemate, Raven, and their daughter, Savannah, vulnerable to the encroaching evil, Mikhail’s hope is not lost.

Carpathians from around the world are gathering to join their souls and their powers to bring light to the darkness. But so too are their adversaries uniting–hunters, vampires, demons and betrayers–bringing untold dangers into the fold of the Carpathian people.

My Review:
Dark Celebration is a bit different than the other books within the Dark Series. However I have read this book quite frequently from the library, and I thought it was about time to do a review on it. For those of you who don’t know much or really none about this series, let me explain it a bit for you. The Carpathian series, is a paranormal series, very similar to vampires, however Carpathians are a bit different from vampires. The Carpathian race is dying out, they are a honorable race, however they are bound to be extinct. In this world that Christine Feehan has created, Carpathians males are very “alpha” so it can be very enjoyable at time and humorous to read. But the males have a darkness within them, and if they don’t find their lifemates, then they will eventually turn vampire and lose their souls. So in each of the books, its about how each Carpathian male finds his lifemate, and trust me their lifemates are independent, strong willed spitfires, and its amusing to watch the couple come together. In this book, its a Christmas celebration, where all the Carpathians, especially the couples and their children come together. Its one of my favorites of the Dark Series, and those that have read this one already will probably agree with me. Its definitely full of amusing wit, suspensful action and intrigue, intense passion and a tender story of coming together as a united species.

Published April 2005
Paranormal Vampire Romance
ISBN: 0843955287

Synopsis:
He came to her in the night, a predator — strength and power chiseled his features. The seduction was deep and elemental; he affected her soul. His need. His darkness. His terrible haunting loneliness. Her senses aroused, she craved the dangerous force of his body. Burned for him. And he had only touched her with his mind.

She came to him at dawn, his bleakest hour. As the beast raged inside him, threatening to consume him, he vented his centuries-old despair in an anguished cry that filled the waning night. And she answered, a ray of light, piercing his darkness. A beautiful angel. Her compassion, courage, and innocence awakened in him an exquisite longing and tenderness. He knew he must possess her, for only she could tame his savage side and lift the dark shadow from his soul. Apart they were desolate, bereft. Intertwined physically and spiritually, they could heal one another and experience an eternity of nights filled with love.

My Review:

First off I want to talk about the cover, I absolutely adore the older covers more than Feehans more modernized cover for Dark Prince. This cover show more sensuality and connection between Raven and Mikail. I have always chosen to listen to Dark Prince, since my local library has most of the Carpathian Series on Audio form, and I prefer it that way. It is read by Juanita Parker, which she has such a great way about her in that she portrays the emotions so well. The story literally comes alive for you as you listen to it. I strongly recommend listening to this in Audio form, you won’t regret it.

It starts out with Mikael who has lived hundred of years, and is a Carpathian. Carpathians are very different than vampire although they have similarities, but the big difference is that Carpathians are good, and Vampires are evil and have no soul.  Mikael is the prince of his people, who are a dying race, with not many Carpathian women around, and with only sons being born to the women they are literally going extinct. Once during the time of the Crusades, many of their people defended the humans that were being threatened but in doing so many of them were slaughtered, since they become weak during the day. Some of the Carpathians were able to flee and escape. Those included in the slaughterings were Mikael’s parents, his father being the leader of his people. Mikael has always taken huge responsibilities on his shoulders. In present day, he is tired and exhausted and wants to seek the sun and end his existence. Without a life-mate, he fears the darkness within him with take over his soul and he will turn into a vampire. He refuses to let that happen. However, when he is feeling desolate, he hears a womanly voice in his head comforting him. He is amazed to find that it is a mortal woman, and he seeks her out. Raven has always had psychic abilities, she comes to the Carpathian Mountains to find peace, she has recently hunted three killers using her psychic ability. She feels drained and at a loss. She is in pain when another touches her physically, and she yearns for solitude and peace among the beautiful Carpathian Mountains. However, hearing Mikaels bleakness she calls out to him, offering aide, knowing she couldn’t refuse doing so. Upon talking with Mikael she finds him arrogant and Alpha Male 100% all the way, but she can’t refuse him. Upon seeing him, a connection surges between them and neither one of them can resist. Raven is Mikael’s life-mate, he starts seeing colors, when for hundreds of years he has only seen in grey. He also starts feeling emotions again, which are clear signs in finding one’s life-mate. A journey begins, with Mikael and Raven finding their way, making mistakes along the way, but finding true love and a sensual passion that neither one of them can control or deny.

The Carpathian series, is my up most favorite paranormal series of all time. It always has been since I have started reading from Christine Feehan. The first book I read from her was Dark Challenge, which is my favorite in the series. However, I really have fallen in love with Dark Prince, I have loved reading Mikael and Raven’s story. I have fallen in love with both characters. Mikael is typical Alpha Male (Which I love) and he is the leader of his people, and at the beginning of the book is very arrogant and believes everything he says is law. However upon meeting Raven, he finds himself at odds, having met the one person who has no problems with arguing with him, much less a woman. No one ever argues with him, apart from his best friend Gregori who has been at his side since they were young. Raven has lived in solitude most of her life, except when she hunted the killers. But ever since she was little, she has been despised for her gift. Once she comes to the Carpathian Mountains, and meeting Mikael, who is the one person whose touch doesn’t cause her pain but pleasure and the likes of which she has never known. It has truly been a pleasure to listen to Dark Prince I can never get bored with Feehan’s books I could read her over and over again. I truly loved the characters, the plot and the witty come backs in the conversations, also there was some suspense and mystery has well toward the end, which definitely made it a astounding and enthralling read.
