Beautiful, wild-eyed and golden-haired, Eden Whitney was the most delectable woman Zach Tyson had ever found trussed up in the hold of his pirate ship. As dangerous and turbulent as the dark seas he sailed, Zach knew a priceless treasure when he saw one –and he had no intention of sharing the plunder with his men. One taste of Eden and he knew he had found his own private paradise of love.

My Review
I am a huge fan of Cassie Edwards, her stories are always so classic and I love every moment. Edwards has a certain writing style that is captivating and draws your attention to the story without letting go. I was able to obtain a copy of Eden’s Promise through Open Library. So I put it under Paperback in the form I read it, because its kinda both a paperback and e book. Let me explain, with open library, these aren’t e book editions of the book. They are scanned directly from the book. So you see the real pages, the color of the pages, and its almost like reading a paperback. For those of you, who haven’t tried Open Library, you are missing out. There is so much selection especially if you like Zebra historical’s as I do. There is quite a few of Edward’s book on this site, way more than you will find in the Nook or Kindle store. So I always take advantage of it, since Cassie is one of my favorites to read from. I usually have read her for her Native American Historical’s, but I have found her other stories that aren’t Indian based, are brilliantly done.

Now I will do a short summary of this book, since the synopsis doesn’t exactly tell much about it. It actually begins with Zach and Eden meeting on a dirt road, where Eden’s wheel on her buggy gets damaged, Zach helps her take her into town to get the wheel fixed. Instantly a spark ignites, and they are instantly drawn to each other. We see a strong bond that quickly forms (and very fast I would say). Zach is a ex pirate, who is trying to make a new life for himself, and when he sees Eden, he knows he is far gone. He falls mad for her quickly, and starts to court her, even though he knows there is a danger to himself in being caught as a pirate. Eden has no men interests until Zach comes into her life, and even though she doesn’t know if she can trust him, she wants to. Then Zach gets into a spot of trouble, and in order to free himself from Jail, he must agree to kill his old mentor, friend and Pirate; Captain Jack. He reluctantly agrees knowing he can never have a normal life until he does. Then he finds Eden bound and gagged in the hold of his ship, and must reveal the whole truth to her. With a dangerous mission he is torn between keeping her at his side, or returning her to safety.

Zach is actually a good hearted man, and I found myself drawn to him instantly. He is kind and generous and doesn’t resemble the “Pirate males” you usually get familiar with, in historical romances. He was sold into becoming a pirate, and then decided he wanted more out of his life. He wants a family, and to have some land and to live out his life in the area he grew up in. I enjoyed seeing how gentle and understanding he is with Eden, but when the situation calls for it, he can be tough as nails. He is protective and possessive at times, but in a way that isn’t smothering. A found it to be a good balance for Zach. Eden I liked for the most part, she could have had a bit more spine and been a bit more self aware. I did like how she responds to Zach. Their connection starts fast, a little too fast. The one thing I didn’t like is how they were “in love” at the beginning of the story. I like a steady progressive plot towards a romance, and I don’t mind the “love at first sight” but this story had it a bit too hurried for my taste. I didn’t really feel their connection until late in the book, when conflict escalates quite a bit and puts a challenge to the characters.

Overall I found myself enjoying this story quite a bit. And even though there is the main love story between Zach and Eden, there are two sub plot love stories as well, which I felt fit nicely into the story. It didn’t seem to be overly much, and with this being a stand alone novel, it worked better than I thought it would when I started it. There is a solid development in the plot, about 1/3 way through, and it starts to really grab your attention. Its a easy and quick read, but in my opinion there could have been a bit more of substance in the first part of the book.  A fun dramatic love story that equaled to a enjoyable read that is one you can enjoy in this beautiful summer season.

Synopsis
BROTHERS AND RIVALS

Heartbreakingly lovely, Melanie Stanton had been promised to Josh Brennan for as long as she could remember. But marriage was the last thing on her mind until Josh’s long-lost twin returned to take his rightful place raising Texas longhorns on the family’s vast spread.

Shane was as different from his brother as two men could possibly be. Raised by the Chippewa, he was as wild as the untamed frontier, as savagely virile as Josh was spoiled and weak. And Shane’s intimate caresses aroused a white-hot desire she had never known in Josh’s arms. Their love was forbidden, but Melanie knew that when passion calls, the heart must obey.

My Review
Summary
When Melanie’s father dies, and leaves the land and the cattle business to both herself and her brother equally, she never expected that her brother would turn on her, and change right before her eyes. She knows that there is a real possibility that she will have to marry Josh, their next door neighbor. But then she meets his twin brother, Shane, who arouses her and makes her feel alive. Shane, when he was four years old, watched his mother being murdered and he was found by a indian who took him into his tribe, and was raised like an Indian, and it is the only way of life he has ever known. But when the tribe chief dies suddenly, the new chief asks him to leave and go back to his father and brother who are still alive. So Shane decides that it is time to move on with his life, and find his family. On his way he comes across a young woman with a zest for life and her passion only rivals his own. For the first time he has found a woman that he could start a new life with, and to be the man he was born to be.

My Thoughts
When Passion Calls is a ebook I was able to borrow from Open Library. I do love a good native american romance, and I found this one to be at the top of my list especially from this author. I have enjoyed being able to read form this author over the years. She has a way with her writing that instantly draws you into her stories.

When Passion Calls starts out with the tragedy that changes Shane’s life. When he see’s his mother being killed, he has vowed to himself for vengeance. Ever since he has been hunting this man that caused so much grief and loss on his family. I really enjoyed the tender relationship that builds between the two. Melanie, I found to be a endearing character, and I grew to really like her as a heroine. I did find that their “falling in love” happened a bit too quick for my taste, but as the story progressed even further their relationship seemed to be more real to me. I really enjoyed seeing how Melanie is very protective of Shane, even though there are times when it is her that needs it. There was such a sweet poignancy to the story, that only made it that much sweeter. The plot was full of a variety of intrigue and suspense, and a bit of a mystery that totally boggled my mind in the end. I found that there was a side of sweetness to the story that almost broke my heart. There was such a strong connection between Melanie and Shane, one we see that only gets stronger and more vitalized especially when the danger to them only increases, and it was a joy to see this couple become stronger despite the setbacks.

There was a intensity to the story as well, and I enjoyed the small different aspects to the story, that in the end made for a Stellar read. A job well done and can’t wait to read more from this author!!! Overall a outstanding written story that is bound to take you on a journey of love and adventure!!

First Line
The sun was slow in the sky, casting orange reflections upon two fifty-foot keelboats making their way up the Mississippi river.

Favorite Quote
Slowly, Shane drew her lips to his mouth, then kissed her with fire. Melanie was catapulted into a world of spinning sensations that flooded her whole body. She was not even aware of being lowered to the ground; that Shane was still kissing her and holding her was all that mattered. Nothing could be sweeter or more beautiful. He was the world…the universe…He was her every breath.

Roses After Rain
Wild and sweet, their passion went beyond the bounds of propriety, yet neither would deny a love as unconquerable as the continent itself.

My Thoughts

When she finds herself a prisoner by a man who is cruel, she wonders if she made the right decision. But when Ian comes for her, she sees hope again and he kindles a tender love

My Thoughts
Its been a little while since I have been able to read from this author. In the past all of the books that I have read from this author have been with native american’s, so it was very neat to have a different setting. I received this through the open library online. My own public library has very few books by this author, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read this one. I absolutely adored this book. There was such a strong connection instantly between Ian and Thalia, I also enjoy the kind of story line that was in play here. I have always enjoyed a good historical that involved Australia. There was such excitement and adventure that was put into this story, it almost felt like I was there. The descriptions of the surrounding and the characters were done in a way that totally had me hooked from beginning to the end. It was very easy to fall in love with this story, and only took  a few paragraphs into the story before I got hooked. There was also such a gentle way that Ian was with Thalia. He wasn’t fully over the top alpha male type. He was tough and gritty but also was very tender and sweet at times with Thalia. Thalia at first lives in fear and doesn’t have much of a backbone, but eventually it does kick in and I came to the point where I admired her. She turned out to be feisty and spirited and protective, and I loved how well this story was written and the way things turn out in the end. It was very emotional and at times I was almost crying it was so intense at different times. A lovely story that is full of sensual passion, sexy hero, and a roller coaster of a read. I would fully recommend this to anyone that enjoys a strong historical romance!! OUTSTANDING!

First Line
The hard Australian sun bounced back from the fine white beaches as a ship inched its way into Adelaide Harbor.

Favorite Quote
“So be it,” Ian said, grabbing her roughly into his arms, his insides melting as her breasts crushed against his chest. “I’ll return you to your husband.” He wove his fingers through her hair and drew her lips cloase. “But I have something to give you first. When you are in your husband’s arms, think of this!”
His mouth seized her in a hard, long kiss, his tongue probing her lips apart.

However her commitment and love is for Shadow, and hopes that he will return that trust as well…before its too late.

My Thoughts:
Savage Dream is part of Cassie Edwards Savage Series. Savage Dream is one of my favorite book that I have yet to read from this astounding author. I don’t get to read Native American books very often, however when I do I always fall in love with these types of stories. I find that they are tender love stories filled with adventure and passion that could satisfy any romantic heart. I also fell in love with both of these wonderfully portrayed characters. Maria is a young woman that longs for a love that she knows she will find in Shadow’s arms, but not knowing that the adventure she will find at his side will be alot more than she would ever imagine. Shadow at first is bent on revenge and justice, however once he takes Maria as his captive, he starts to change, where she becomes the priority in his life. I found the plot to this story to be full of excitement, adventure, passion, and a love so tender it will be a tear to your eye until the very end. So if your looking for a great love story that will keep you on edge and filled with surprises then this is the one for you, Cassie Edwards has definitely written another powerfully written love story.
