New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden invites readers to a dark paranormal world…

Vampires exist. So do werewolves. The creatures that you fear in the darkness? They’re all real. And the baddest of the paranormals…those who love to hurt humans…they’re sent to Purgatory, the only paranormal prison in the U.S.

His job is to stop the monsters.

Deadly forces are at work within Purgatory. The monsters are joining together—and their plans have to be stopped. FBI Agent Shane August, a very powerful vampire with a dark past, is sent into the prison on an undercover assignment. His job is to infiltrate the vampire clan, by any means necessary.

She wants to help the prisoners.

Dr. Olivia Maddox wants to find out just why certain paranormals go bad. What pushes some vampires over the edge? Why do some werewolves turn so savage? If she can understand the monsters, then Olivia thinks she can help them. When she gets permission to enter Purgatory, Olivia believes she is being given the research opportunity of a lifetime.

Olivia doesn’t realize that she’s walking straight into hell.

To survive, they have to rely on each other.

When the prisoners break loose, there is only one person—one vampire—who can protect her, but as Olivia and Shane fight the enemies that surround them, a dark and dangerous passion stirs to life between the doctor and the vamp. Shane realizes that Olivia is a woman carrying secrets—powerful, sinful secrets. Secrets that a man would kill to possess.

And Olivia realizes that—sometimes—you can’t control the beast inside of you. No matter how hard you try. Some passions can push you to the very limits of your control…and the growing lust that she feels for her vampire…it’s sending her racing right into a deadly storm of desire.

Welcome to Purgatory…a place that’s a real hell on earth…

My Review

Olivia has been studying the minds of killers for years, but those were human killers. Now she is determined to figure out why some werewolves and vampires go bad, and so she heads into “Purgatory” a prison for the rogues who kill with no remorse. On her journey across the ocean to the island where they are housed, she shares a boat with one of those headed to Purgatory. A vampire who takes her breath away and she instantly feels a connection to him, despite the fact that he could kill her at a instant. Shane, is undercover, trying to figure out what is going on at Purgatory, but never expected to meet Olivia or have to protect her when circumstances turn upside down, and Shane will have to use everything he has learned over the centuries to protect Olivia…his woman…his mate, who holds the key to saving the world or destroying it.

This is the first time I have had a chance to read from Cynthia Eden. So when I was offered a chance to read this book in exchange for a honest review…I just had to leap at this chance. Now I was expecting a story that I would probably like…..but I can say I am so IMPRESSED right now!!! I read this in a couple of hours, and the time just flew by. I just couldn’t get enough of this story. It was everything I needed. The past couple books I have read didn’t meet up to my expectations…so after reading this, I knew that this story was just perfect for me. Marked By The Vampire is the second book in the Purgatory series, and I will say that even though I would have liked to read the first book, I was fine without reading it when I was reading this installment. It can easily be read as a stand a lone if needed.

The story begins with Olivia meeting Shane for the first time. And oh boy I felt like my apartment could be lit up just by the chemistry they made by their eye contact. Their connection is instantaneous, sexy and hot!! You just might want to be prepared and bring a fire extinguisher for this one. There is so much passion, action and enough conflict, it might just stop your heart; and I LOVED every moment. Shane is that Alpha male you just want for yourself. Predatory, powerful, cunning and possessive as hell. Shane was such a compelling hero, and I loved the hero complex he tends to have…especially when it comes to Olivia. Olivia is feisty, sensual, smart, and isn’t afraid to defend herself. I grew to really like her, and even though she could be a bit annoying at the end of the story, you don’t mind too much, when she really handles what is thrown at her. I enjoyed the layout of the story, and the suspense and action never seemed to stop. Just when I thought Shane and Olivia get a break, something else gets thrown at them, and they seem to handle it just fine.

Overall a exciting and thrilling romantic tale with plenty of paranormal drama, emotional intensity and a love connection to make you want to immerse yourself in this story forever!! A author that I will definitely be reading more of.  MAGNIFICENT!

My Favorite Quote

”Why do people think, that vampires are cold?” “Because the movies say we’re dead. The dead are cold. The dead don’t have hearts that beat, They say we have no passion. But our hearts beat. We breathe. We live. We need.”

A Vampire’s Christmas Carol (Novella)
Cynthia Eden

This holiday season has bite.

Ben Prescott hates Christmas—he’s a vampire, and to him, there’s certainly nothing jolly about the holiday season. While the humans are running around being merry, he’s hunting in the shadows. Ben plans to spend the holidays his way…by stalking deadly prey.

But fate has other plans for Ben.

Three visitors are coming Ben’s way…A demon who will force Ben to face his past, a ghost who will show Ben the present he could have, and a shifter who will reveal the darkness that waits in Ben’s future. Unless Ben can change his ways, he may just turn into a real monster, one who can’t be saved by anyone or anything.

‘Tis the season…to be undead.

Ben’s redemption rests in the hands of the one woman he loved and lost—Simone Laurent. If Ben is going to have a chance at being more than just the beast in the darkness, he has to prove himself to the lovely Simone. A very hard task, considering that, once upon a Christmas Eve, Simone died in Ben’s arms…

This book features one very tortured vampire, a sexy ghost from his past, and hot scenes designed to melt the winter snow. Plenty of action, adult situations, and steamy times are ahead. Happy holidays!

Author Interview

Could you tell us 5 random things about yourself.
Of course! Let’s see…I love horror movies, Vin Diesel is my favorite actor, I have an addiction to chocolate, I watch the Disney Channel even when my son isn’t in the room, and I’ve been reading romance novels since I was 12 years old.

-What is your favorite aspect about writing? What inspired you to write?

I love being able to create high intensity, dangerous scenes–and to enjoy that danger from the comfort of my chair.  Anything can happen in books, and it’s that “anything” that makes writing exciting to me!

I have always been a day dreamer, so writing just seemed like a good fit for me. I couldn’t turn off the day dreams, so I just used them!

– Tell us a bit about A Vampire’s Christmas Carol

Thanks for asking! A Vampire’s Christmas Carol features one very tortured vampire who is on the edge of falling into darkness. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by three very different visitors–a demon, a ghost from Ben’s past, and a shifter.  It’s a vampy take on the Dickens classic…only there’s some steamy scenes included that I don’t think were in the original version!

-Do you have a favorite character? Tell us about him/her.

That is such a tough question! I think my favorite overall character would be Niol from Midnight’s Master. Niol was my first really bad anti-hero, and he gave me a serious soft spot for those tortured guys.

-What made you decide on writing paranormal romance? and why?

I think we can all use an escape from the real world, and I like to write paranormals to get that escape. It’s nice to imagine that there is more to this world than just what we see each day.

-What is the easiest and/or hardest part about writing?
The ending is the hardest part for me! Sometimes, it’s difficult to say goodbye to the characters.

The easiest part? Starting a story! That’s always fun and exciting!

-Do you have a favorite genre to read for fun?

Romance! Give me all sub-genres, and I am a happy woman!

-Do you have a specific spot you like to write? or is it anytime, anywhere?

Anytime, anywhere. 😉 I just need to be in a quiet spot, and I’m good to go. If there is too much noise nearby or if someone is talking, I always get pulled out of the story.

-If you could travel to any time, which would it be and why?
Hmmm…I’ve always been fascinated by Ancient Egypt. I’d love to get a first hand look at the pyramids in their glory!

-Do you have any favorite books or author you love to read from?

So many! I love Larissa Ione, Katie Reus, Jayne Ann Krentz, Kresley Cole, Linda Howard…I could go on for hours.

Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me. Happy Holidays!

Lust clawed through him. The need, the red-hot desire, seemed to burn Ben from the inside.  He grabbed Simone, yanked her flush against him. His mouth locked on hers. He’d always tried to be so careful with her in the past. Played the gentleman because she mattered.
He wasn’t a gentleman any longer. Ben wasn’t even sure what he was. He just knew he needed Simone naked, and he had to be in her.
He carried her back to his bedroom. He ignored the glittering New York skyline. She was the only thing he could see. Desire pounded through him. His cock was so swollen that he hurt and—
His teeth were extending. Stretching in his mouth.
Ben dropped Simone on the bed and stepped back, horrified.
“Ben?”  Simone sat up on the bed and pushed back the blonde hair that had tumbled forward. “What’s wrong?”
She was so gorgeous and sexy staring up at him.  Looking at him with those wide, dark eyes.
I’m going to hurt her. He grabbed for the control that he’d always held so easily in the past. Only that control was broken. Shattered. “You need to leave.”
