Synopsis
In The Secrets of a Scoundrel, New York Times bestselling author Gaelen Foley has created her most exciting Inferno Club novel yet!

Nick, Lord Forrester, has a reputation that is legendary—both as a lethal warrior and a wicked lover. But when his rule-breaking ways land him in a Scottish dungeon, he’s left there to rot, until a mysterious lady visits his cell and offers him a way out.

All he must do is risk his neck on the mission she proposes—and obey her every command. One look at the luscious beauty has Nick ready to promise her anything, but he must resist his desire, or she could send him straight back to prison.

Virginia, Lady Burke, is well aware that the powerful ex-spy will try to take command of their quest, but it’s her job to keep him under control. Yet how can she keep this untamable scoundrel under her thumb when all she really wants is to unleash the smoldering passion between them?

My Review

Virginia, Lady Burke, is independent, and is her fathers daughter. For years she has wanted to make a difference just as her father did and the  members of the Inferno Club have done. She is a widow, and a mother to a fifteen year old boy, but thrives on her own independence. She has a business of being a private investigator, and when she learns that there are missing girls, she knows just the man to help her, Lord Forester. Even though Nick has a great love for his brethren in the Order, he is tired of the life, of killing and losing a part of himself each and every time he goes on a mission. So when he tries to defect and leave to live a life of his own, he is thrown into prison. When a beautiful woman comes to him with a proposition in return for his freedom, he is more than willing, especially with Virginia as his partner. As they get closer to the truth of the location of the missing girls, the danger surrounds them, and only when Virginia embraces who she is and trusts in Nick will they be able to survive the coming tide of danger that may destroy them and everything they hold dear.

The Secrets of A Scoundrel is the seventh and final installment in the Inferno Club series. Gaelen Foley has been a favorite author of mine for quite some time, and you never know what to expect when you pick up one of her books. They always surprise me, but the lovely delightful kind that sends shivers down the spine. It starts out with a delightful scene of Nick exercising with his shirt off, and sparks pass between these two instantly. Then it picks up pretty quickly, and you find yourself totally immersed in the story. The plot was very exciting, and some intense spots that had me at the edge especially the later half. I had no problem getting into this story, and stayed up half the night reading it, because I could barely put it down for very long. The chemistry between Nick and Virginia is instantaneous, and they surely don’t need help with the fireworks, they are explosive enough on their own. Virginia’s son, is charming and endearing, and I was totally on his side, especially when Virginia went in overprotective mama bear mode, she does overkill it just a bit, but I loved seeing flaws in the characters, it adds a touch of realism to the story that sometimes ends up missing out of regency romances. The characters are full of surprise and the interaction between Virginia and Nick is packed with witty humor and lovable characters to win your heart.

A delightful romp of a romance to captivate hearts, and endear you to this charming couple who are the perfect example of finding that happy ever after amidst danger and intrigue. A Ending to the series that sets the final stage for this set of heroes who have enthralled its readers since the first book.  A lovely story that is priceless!! ENGROSSING ON EACH PAGE!

He’s sure she’s absolutely wrong. Until danger threatens, and Trevor rediscovers how easy it is to be a hero…for the right lady.

My Review
I recently received a ARC copy of My Notorious Gentleman by Avon through Edelweiss. I can not say how much I enjoyed reading this one. If you have yet to read one of her stories, you are missing out…big time!! There is nothing I like better than sitting down, relaxing, and reading a romance from Gaelen Foley. Such remarkable talent and drama and intensity, its bound to captive you from the get go. My Notorious Gentleman is the sixth of the series, but I am not sure if its the last one, in fact I am thinking there might be a next installment considering it had a small bit of a cliffhanger. Only small enough that has me intrigued.

Grace is a ministers daughter, and as such, she has a desire to help others. When she finds herself in London, helping a family friend from drinking and gambling his life away, she comes across Lord Trevor Montgomery, who has the mistaken impression that she is after him, and practically seduces her on a couch, and what is a woman to do except defend herself and attack him with a hair pin. Then later at the party her father introduces her to him, and now she has no idea what to think of him. But when her father encourages him to buy a piece of property that is right next door, she is appalled, that is the last thing that she needs, a man who is more tempting than anything she has ever encountered. Travis, has decided to retire fully from the War Office, he has dedicated his whole life to serving his country, and now he is ready for peace and contentment. When he goes to the countryside, and finds the perfect place, he is intrigued by Grace. She may be a pastor’s daughter, but she is beautiful and has a heart of gold. Grace doesn’t understand why Travis is so interested in her. But when life seems to spiral out of control, he is her rock and more than anything she desires to have him forever.

A completely memorable story with fascinating characters that only end up capturing your heart. A heart warming and deeply riveting story of a tender and romantic love between this pair that warmed me up inside and out. I loved the setting of the story, and there was so much I enjoyed about this. It didn’t have a whole ton of intense espionage drama like you are used to with this series. However it did have some suspenseful moments that will definitely get your attention. A remarkably written story, and this just might have to go on as top of the list of favorites from this author. An enriching and passionate love tale that is bound to stir up all kinds of emotions. A KEEPER!!

First line
George was foxed, but that, Grace supposed, was to be expected.

Favorite Quote
“Well, my dear,” he purred, stalking slowly toward the shapely outline of the woman. “Here we are,” he said coldly. “Alone at last.”
“What? Oh–I–um–I’m sorry–I–”
“Don’t lose your nerve now, cherie,” he taunted her in a low, silken voice. “You’ve got me all to yourself. I’m at your service, I assure you. Such persistence deserves to be rewarded.” he moved closer. “I’m here to give you what you want. So let’s get started, shall we?”
Grace stood there tongue tied as Lord Trevor Montgomery stepped out of the shadows, looming before her like a mighty fallen angel with merciless hatred in his eyes. There was not even time to scream as he swept her roughly into his arms; he clamped her against his iron chest and claimed her mouth in a angry, insolent kiss.

Meet the courageous men of the Inferno Club as they face their greatest challenge yet: marriage!

Sebastian, Viscount Beauchamp, lives by a code of honor, and now honor dictates he must marry Miss Carissa Portland. He has no regrets over stealing a kiss from the adorable little busybody—a fitting punishment for putting her delectable nose where it didn’t belong. But now, caught in a compromising situation, he knows he must make her his bride. He’s faced danger before—but nothing like this!

Carissa is not a gossip—she’s a “lady of information.” And all she was trying to do was warn the rakehell Beauchamp away from an irate husband. But even she can’t flaunt Society, and while her head tells her that Beau’s a notorious scoundrel, her heart—and her body—are captivated by his dangerous charm. But when Carissa next goes snooping, the secrets she uncovers about the Inferno Club may prove even more hazardous than falling in love with her own husband.

My Review
I just read this one, and boy it surely didn’t take very long. My only complaint about this book is that it went by way too fast to suit me. Its like I have a love/hate relationship with this one. When I found this available at the library, I knew that I had to pick it up, since I have been waiting months for it to become free for me to read. It has been a while since I have read the previous books in the series, but I am thinking I need to re read the series. When I started reading My Scandalous Viscount I realized why I fell in love with this author, and most especially this spectacular series.

Even though Carissa is labeled the “lady of information”, she has good reasons for what she does. When she sees that Beau is in trouble, she knows that she must be the one to save the day. But when she goes to warn him of a impending danger, she ends up in a situation of being shot by a stranger and with Beau as her champion. He then takes her to a safe house of sorts, and where she being curious about Beau and his somewhat secret life, she finds herself being compromised and forced to marry Beau. Sebastian is leader of the Inferno Club now, and is busy enough trying to find out who is working toward destroying all that he and his men have worked so hard at all of these years. But when a charming little minx storms into his life, and they end up in a compromised situation he has no choice but to marry her. He has no complaints however, since he has always been fascinated with Carissa. But when it becomes apparent that his men are in grave danger if they set foot in England, he needs to use every discipline he has to save his brothers. He never thought that falling in love with his beautiful wife would be even more disastrous than his job.

I found this story to be delightful and full of everything I need in a solid spy romance set in regency England. In the previous books we learn about the Inferno Club, and I was thrilled to finally read Beau’s story. There was quite a bit of tension and intrigue, and I found myself entertained constantly. The two characters Carissa and Sebastian, were utterly delightful. Their relationship was striking and too amusing by half. A sensual and sizzling tale of passion and danger and mystery that will win your heart over.

To restore family honor the Marquess of Rotherstone faces his most dangerous mission–finding the perfect bride . . .

To London’s aristocracy, the Inferno Club is a scandalous society of men no proper young lady would acknowledge. But though they are publicly notorious for pursuing all manner of debauchery, in private they are warriors who would do anything to protect king and country.

The Marquess of Rotherstone has decided it’s time to restore the family’s good name. But as a member of the Inferno Club, he knows there is only one way to redeem himself in Society’s eyes: marry a lady of impeccable beauty and breeding, whose reputation is, above all, spotless.

Someone quite unlike Daphne Starling. True, she’s temptingly lovely, but a jilted suitor has nearly ruined her reputation. Still, Max cannot resist her allure–or the challenge of proving London’s gossips wrong. He would do anything to win her hand . . . and show that even a wicked marquess can make a perfect husband.

My Review
Summary
Now that Max is back from his mission in europe with his time, he feels its time to settle down, get married and have a family, especially after giving the majority of his life in service to his country. At first he has a list of potential future wives that would suit his needs, that is, until he see’s Daphne Starling, and he knows that she will be His. Even though Daphne has recently been jilted, he is drawn to her in a way that even he can’t explain to himself. Daphne, has recently nearly been ruined by a past suitor, and she doesn’t know what her future holds, until she meets the Marquess of Rotherstone, who is very charming and seductive, and she knows she could easily fall under his spell, and although they share an intimacy she has never known, she just doesn’t know if she can trust him, when she knows he is hiding something from her……

The Hero (Max, Marquess of Rotherstone)
Max, was bartered when he was a child to the government to be trained as the perfect spy and killer. Max has never been close to his family because he felt betrayed and has a hard time learning how to trust again. When he finally returns home to England, he knows its time to find a wife and secure his title. Even though he is looking for a woman with a pristine reputation and breeding, he is stunned to discover that all his attention is drawn toward a woman who is captivating, and although there is a scandal surrounding her, he knows that there is something special about her despite what the gossips’ say.

The Heroine (Daphne Starling)
Daphne, feels like she is a burden to her family, especially her father. Ever since she lost her mother at a young age, she has only had her father to lean on…however when Max starts to show an interest in her, she knows that she may not have a choice but to except his offer, even though deep down she knows he is holding something back from her, and only when she knows that truth about his real intentions will she take him seriously….and the feelings she has for him

My Thoughts
Since I have been reading the series out of order, I have been wanting to read Max’s story, and I was so glad that I did. The only real negative aspect of the story…was that it took a bit to get into the book, but once I did I was really into it, and it was just as fun and enticing as Foley’s other works. It was interesting to see Max develop in the story, much more than we see Daphne develop. Max has alot against him, much of which he kinda does to himself a bit, but it was neat to see him change from a sexy but aloof and withdrawn man, to someone that is what Daphne really needs.  Another aspect that I really liked was the way Max and Daphne connected, very intense and sensual yet had a perfect balance of excitement and romance to even it all out…a very enjoyable read!

Synopsis

The Inferno Club: In public, this scandalous society of London aristocrats is notorious for pursuing all manner of debauchery. But in private, they are warriors who would do anything to protect king and country . . .

They say that the very name of Warrington is cursed . . .

From a time as old as the cold stone of the duke’s ancestral castle, the Warrington men have been plagued by tragedy. But Rohan Kilburn, the Duke of Warrington, has vowed to escape the predestined torment by forsaking love and devoting his life to the Inferno Club and its secret mission.

And then she is brought to him unbidden by cutthroats hoping to calm the duke’s infamous temper–a sacrificial virgin of sorts. But even overpowered, Kate Madsen will be no man’s sacrifice. And the duke’s price for claiming her may be what he has sworn never to give–the heart he has so long and fiercely guarded–to the beautiful hostage he was never meant to love.

My Review

Summary:
When Kate is kidnapped from her home, drugged, and taken to the home of the Duke of Warrington, she doesn’t know what to make of him. He is very mysterious, very handsome in a very sinful way, and he makes her body heat with just one look. However he is always questioning her, and she is the innocent one in all of this, but as they both get closer to the truth, the closer the danger gets, the more intense their desire for each other escalates into a powerful love even though they know its dangerous….

The Hero (Rohan Kilburn)
Rohan, has always lived in fear of the supposed family curse. Legend has it that his family was cursed when the Warrington Duke marries, his wife ends up dead either on accident or on purpose….and he knows he can never marry because he would never have the same thing happen to someone he loves and respect. When Kate is brought to him, at first he is only thinking of his sexual appetites, however when he sees the innocence and beauty about her, he is intrigued and knows he could easily fall in love with Kate who is like a breath of fresh air in his dangerous and sometimes stifling world.

The Heroine (Kate Madsen)
Kate, lost her mother when she was a small girl, and then her father abandoned her and left her in England, in a small cottage with a guardian to look after her. Now she is alone, and aches for adventure and to see the world, but when she is kidnapped, she fears for her life until she starts to trust in Rohan, who is the only one that can protect her. As she and Rohan try to discover the mystery together, they draw very close, and his kisses take her breath away and she knows that he will never marry her so she knows she needs to guard her heart because it would be inevitable that he would only hurt her in the end…..

My Thoughts
My Dangerous Duke is the second in the series, and again I am reading this series out of order, but even though it would be nice to read it in order, sometimes I get too impatient, and I just grab what I can find. I have found that it can be read out of order, but then again I can catch on pretty easily….My Dangerous Duke starts out wit Kate being drugged, and you see that she is really courageous and faces up to Rohan not knowing if he is the type of man to rape or not, but she soon finds out that he is not what the legend say. Rohan, has stayed away from his home in the country for a very good reason, but now he has to be there at least for a little while. Rohan, is very suspicious of Kate especially through the first half of the book, however we start to see that once you bang your head enough then eventually you will start to see reason. It was pretty funny to see Rohan and Kate clash against each other, there was also a sexual tension through the whole story that keeps one captivated, and could fog one’s windows if your not careful….I just loved the danger aspect to the plot, it just kept me on the edge of my seat the majority of the time, and the mystery was a perfect element to the book, and added a sense intrigue and excitement that becomes very engaging….and the detail of the events that happen are very vivid in a certain way…..A exciting thrill of a romance!!!

My Review

Summary
Emily Harper, has always loved Drake, ever since she was a little girl, even though their stations should have kept them apart, it only drew them together. Emily has always known of Drake’s secret, being a spy and working for the government or also known as the “Inferno Club” When he is suspected of being a traitor, even to his brothers from the club, she knows only she still believes in him, and she must save him. So she travels on her own through Europe, to find him, and when she finds him…questions abound, and the situation she finds herself and Drake in will take them both working together and learning what it truly means to trust no matter the opposition, and even then it might not be enough……

The Hero (Drake Westwood)
Drake, ever since he was a boy had trained to be in the Inferno Club, and go on dangerous assignments, but his current one is the most dangerous of all, to make everyone believe he is a traitor, so he can get into the enemy camp, but when Emily arrives on the scene, it only complicates matters, and he doesn’t know if he will be able to save them both

The Heroine (Emily Harper)
Emily, grew up as the gamekeeper’s daughter, and was a bit of a tom boy more than anything else, and as young children both she and Drake were inseperable, until he went into training, but as they got older, their relationship only became stronger. So when she hears that he is in need of help, she goes off to help not knowing what she is getting herself into. Once she realizes the danger, though its too late to back out and she refuses to leave without Drake by her side….

My Thoughts
My Ruthless Prince, is the fourth in the series, and the first book that I have read from the series. I have just loved Gaelen Foley, but for some reason I must be behind in the times or lost in a cave somewhere, but when I discovered these books at the library I knew I needed to read them…not even knowing which book is in order. However when I started reading My Ruthless Prince, I don’t know I even got up once, I was so enthralled into the story…I mean the plot wasn’t something I had never read at least the basics, however there was something that completely drew me into the story, the plot and the vivid portrayal of the characters. I think one of the things that kept me so involved into the book, was how there was surprise after surprise, things I would never suspect to happen, which definitely had me intrigued at the least. So if your  in the mood for a good spy historical romance, I would recommend My Ruthless Prince and I am sure the rest of the books in the series so far….there is something almost magical about the way this author writes!!! You just won’t be disappointed!
