Synopsis
A duke who needs to be tamed . . . a lady who refuses to be rescued.

Adam Chamberlin was the third son of a duke, known for gambling binges and drunken nights. No one expected anything of him . . . until tragedy strikes. Now Adam is the new Duke of Rothford, determined to right the wrongs he’s done. Except a secret in his past means helping the one woman who doesn’t want his help at all.

It’s not every day that a duke introduces himself to a woman sitting by herself in Hyde Park. Faith Cooper is even more surprised when Adam offers her a position as a lady’s companion to his elderly aunt. Faith refuses to be beholden to a man again—certainly not this man, who both infuriates and attracts her. But with passion simmering between them, will Faith surrender to forbidden desire?

My Review

Adam Chamberlin, The Duke of Rothford, has returned from serving in the army, after his two older brothers are killed by a fever, and now he is the new Duke of Rothford. Adam never expected such responsibility to be heaped on his shoulders. Even though before he enlisted, he was a rogue, who loved women, drinking and gambling. Now he has changed, and not just because of his new status. Over the years he has changed from a young man with no care, to a man tormented with his own demons wanting redemption and forgiveness. When he and three of his friends make a pact, to seek redemption for a decision that changed their lives….the one woman that give him full redemption is Faith Cooper. Faith, even though raised differently, has no choice to seek a position as a servant, when her brother is killed, and she and her mother must fend for themselves. She knows that she will probably live a life as a spinster, even though she craves a man to love. She is shocked with a Duke comes to her, offering her a place of refuge and a position that would alter her life. Faith is independent, and doesn’t want to lose what she has worked hard for. But there is a attraction between Faith and Adam, one that neither can deny…a attraction that could heal both of them and have them believing in happy ever after and a future if they will trust in the love they hold for one another…

Redemption of The Duke is the third installment in this latest series by Gayle Callen. Over the years I have come to appreciate Callen’s writing and the beautiful way she weaves a romance, and so I had high hopes for this one. Especially after reading the blurb and boy this cover…is just sexy right? Well this book is full of intense characters, sensual scenes, and a wonderful love story that makes your heart skip a beat. The only big issue I had with this book was how long it took me to get into it. It did take a while, I was finding it very enjoyable but wasn’t fully into the story until about 1/3 of the way through, and then I felt like the pace picked up and then that is when the story really got interesting. the later half of the story I was having a hard time putting down, and I really enjoyed seeing Adam and Faith come together. There is quite a bit of tension and conflict between the two, especially in the beginning. But we see that after they overcome some issues, their romance blossoms, and things between them start to come together. Of course then we see a bit of a mysterious element inserted into the story. and then the plot really thickens, and there was definitely enough material in this story to give it that romantic flair that tug at those heartstrings.

Overall a stunning romantic tale of two people that need each other more than they realize. Two people that both need redemption and will only find it in each other. With a light sensual twist, characters to make your day brighten, and a plot that will keep you guessing until the end. QUITE REMARKABLE!!!

Will you be able to guess who is behind it all? Read it and find out!! 🙂

Synopsis
A pretend engagement turns into passion between an unlikely pair in the second book of USA Today bestselling author Gayle Callen’s new Victorian series.

She wanted a favor, not a fiancé.

Audrey Blake’s impromptu plan-asking a visitor to help her take ownership of her rightful property-is unraveling in spectacular fashion. Robbed of her sight by a childhood fever, Audrey has been kept in virtual seclusion by her family. And now the enigmatic Robert Henslow, Earl of Knightsbridge, has complicated her scheme to gain independence, insisting they pretend to be engaged.

Duty brought Robert to Audrey’s doorstep. As for what makes him propose marriage…it might be guilt. Compassion. Or something far more urgent and unexpected. Their counterfeit union was supposed to be for Audrey’s benefit. Yet it’s Robert who yearns to prove to the intriguing Audrey how much they both have to gain by making it real-and convincing her to submit to the most blissful passion.

My Review
Summary
After coming home from India, Robert has come to Audrey Blake’s home, out of duty and obligation to her husband, with whom he worked with as a fellow soldier. What he finds is a confidant young woman, but blind. Audrey once suffered a severe fever, and she lost her sight at six years old. Now she is a pretty much a prisoner in her father’s home, and feels smothered. She married her husband, desperate to have freedom. However after she finds herself married, her husband is not what she expected, he used her as well. After he leaves for India, she loses her baby, and then later finds out her husband has been killed. Now back in her father’s home, she is desperate to find a way to leave. When Robert Henslow comes for a visit, and offers her a chance to get free once more. Only she will have to have a pretend engagement with the Earl. At first Robert is more than willing to help Audrey, but as their pretend engagement brings them even more intimately closer than he ever would have imagined. Now he desires to make their fake engagement much more real and keep Audrey as his own.

My Thoughts
I was given a ARC by Edelweiss and Avon books to give a honest review. It has been quite some time since I have read anything from this author. I have loved all of her other books, and I don’t know if I was just distracted with this one, or what, but I had a hard time getting fully into the story, when I have never have had any problems before. I would describe it as an enjoyable read but not the type that gets the blood thumping with excitement. I did enjoy the type of circumstances that this couple is faced with. And once I got about halfway into it, then it started to get really good.

With Audrey, blind, and a virtual prisoner in her father’s country estate, she is more than eager to leave. Her father sees her as a invalid, to be put aside and practically forgotten. All the glory and attention should go to her younger sister of course. So when Robert, the Earl of Knightsbridge, returns home to pay his respects to the widow of one of the soldiers he feels guilty over his recent death. When he arrives he is very surprised to find that she is blind, but no where close to invalid status. She is determined to have a life, despite being blind. He finds her courage and tenacity, only makes her even more attractive in his eyes. When they agree to a mutual fake engagement, he is all for it. He feels like he owes her something, and this is the least that he can do. Audrey, is no where ready to take on another husband. But for the first time she feels a fierce desire for Robert, the kind she has never felt before.

Robert, didn’t have the best childhood. For the most part he felt isolated but yet he grew up to be a man of honorable intentions. He joined the army, and ended up in India. I found Robert to be the type of hero you want for yourself. He isn’t much of a rake, he is bound by duty and obligation.  I found him to be very refreshing and I liked the way he treated Audrey. He never sees her blindness as a negative characteristic, but admires her for what she has done despite of it. There is such a passionate connection between the two. I also liked how the heroine was far from perfect. She suffers from being blind, and I just loved this aspect of the story. It added a certain unique aspect that only added to the story even more.

I found Surrender to the Earl a pleasant and steady read. It wasn’t the type where you are flipping through the pages, but it wasn’t so slow it would take a turtle to keep ahead. I didn’t find it to be very significant enough to blow my mind in any form. Although there were certain aspects of the story that I did enjoy. I liked the slow escalation of the love story that develops between this couple. Overall I found it to be a enjoyable romance that leads you into a light read, that is good for any time of the year.

First Line
Robert Henslow, Earl of Knightsbridge, late of the Queen’s army, paced the drawing room in Lord Collin’s modest country mansion and debated how best to see to the welfare of the baron’s daughter–considering he’d never met her before.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Louisa Shelby, once enjoyed a life full of parties and balls, but after her father died, Louisa and her two sisters were forced to find a means of providing for themselves. So Louisa decided to be a lady’s companion.  Now she has been requested to do a job as a companion to an elderly viscountess, only never expecting to find that she isn’t really expected to be a lady’s companion at all, since the Viscontess hardly needs one, but her granddaughter, is in desperate need to overcome her shyness around men especially. But there is also Simon Wade to consider, who after a accident with his horse, became blind. So now its obvious that she is there to help both of the younger wades, even though they don’t know it. Louisa however never expected to fall in love with this man, who has stolen her heart from the first.

The Hero (Simon Wade)
Simon, has always been close to his grandmother much more than to his own mother, who has never truly cared about him or his younger sister, whom he is very over protective of. Simon after suffering from a fall from his horse, is now blind. Simon is a very proud man, and as such has had to hide from most of the world, even most of his friends. At first knowing of Louisa being his grandmothers companion, he was suspicous recalling her reputation being rumored to be “fast” but as he gets to know her and how Louisa interacts with his sister, he realizes the rumors were just that…rumors. And that even though he could never marry, he knows that he could easily fall in love with her.

The Heroine (Louisa Shelby)
Lousia was forced to find a occupation and decided to be a ladies companion, only her past jobs haven’t turned out too well, but her most recent job she found something she was capable at and felt fullfillment, more than anything she has had in her life, something that gives her meaning. She helped a girl come out into society, and get married, a girl that was once very shy. Now she is put in a situation where she could help another shy girl, sister to Simon Wade. Louisa, seeing both her sisters settled in love and blissfully happy, has yet to find the same happiness, and wonders if she ever will. But when she starts helping out the Wade family, she starts to fall in love with the life in the country and with the family…especially Simon Wade, and wonders if her love for Simon could break her or bring her the highest happiness she could ever have.

My Thoughts
The Viscount In Her Bedroom is the last in the Sisters of Willow Pond written by Gayle Callen.  I just love this author and I have loved this series, its such a tender filled romance, and even though I have read this before, its one of those that I could re read and still delightfully enjoy it. The Viscount In Her Bedroom is a story that involves two people that have both suffered, but in very different way, but they share a passion and as the story develops we see a enchanting love blossom. Such a beautifully written story with such detail it seemed at times that I was actually there in the moment, the characters were lively, and the story line very enticing, and before I knew it I was finished with the book. From beginning to end I was fully satisfied, and absolutely adored it!!!

My Favorite Quote
” I love you Simon, and I would be proud to be your wife. You see inside me where others only see what they want to see. You make me feel so precious and loved.”
“Not damn near enough, and that will end right now” He drew her into his arms and kissed her.

Not willing to see her executed for a crime she may not have committed, Sam defies the laws of England and breaks Julia out of jail. What initially began as a search to find proof convicting Julia quickly turns into a quest to prove her innocence. Can this bold and dashing pair discover the truth and still find time for love?

But with the danger surrounding them, there is a passion that flares between the two of them, but will they be able to give in to the love they feel for one another?

Now he has rescued her from her jail cell, and taken her off until they can prove their innocence. Julia when her brother left for India, followed him there, and has always never felt good enough for him. But then she is branded a traitor, and by the one she has adored for years. My Thoughts
A Woman’s Innocence is the third installment in the spy series written by Gayle Callen. I have just loved reading this series, its full of danger and intrigue and all the romance that you need. This story involves two people that up till now have never been able to pursue the feelings they both have for each other, but have never admitted it to each other. But now they are together and hiding, and have to learn to rely on each other, ant their love. This is a book that will intrigue you, and I found my self througout the whole of the book, flipping the pages as fast as I could read them, not getting enough, yet at the end fully satisfied by how it turned out. Such a enjoyable read!!! I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys historical romance, this is the book for you!!!

If she succeeds, she wins enough funds to secure her own future. If he wins . . . she’ll be his. Daniel has never been so tempted–and he has no intention of losing . . .

My Review:
Miss Grace Banbury, has grown up with a mother who has a severe addiction to gambling, now she finds out that her mother lost in a high stakes game and they lost everything, including Grace herself. So when the rogue that won her and everything her family owns, she and Daniel Throckmorton come to a scandalous wager, where Daniel will try to seduce her as his mistress, and if Grace resists she will win back her father’s violin where she could sell it to provide for herself and her brother. However things never go as planned, and Grace finds resisting Daniel Throckmorton alot more difficult than she ever thought it would be, and desperate to win such a wager. Daniel has always used his roguish charms to win the ladies into his bed, but has never found one that has charmed him as much as Grace Banbury has done, and not only does he wish her in his bed but in his life. But who will be the winner of this dangerous wager?

Never Trust A Scoudrel is the first installment in the Scandal’s son series that Gayle Callen has created for her avid readers.Grace has lived a proper life in Society, but her mother is a different story altogether. When she finds out what her mother has done to both her and her brother, she is at a loss as to where they go from here. But when she meets Daniel and battles wills with him, and comes to a agreement on a wager, she knows that she is in bigger trouble than she would have ever thought. Because Daniel tempts her to such sensual and wicked delights that she wonders if she can last the few weeks they decided on. Daniel Throckmorton, lost his father when he was younger, who was a great muscician, and his mother once had a passion for music. But loved his father so much, she lost that deep passion for music, and Daniel himself, even though quite talented with music, doesn’t want to hurt his mother, so he refuses to pick up any instrument. However once Grace enters his life, he starts to wonder if she is the key to his very happiness that he has denied himself of for so long. This was truly such a wonderful story. Although even though I loved the plot to this story, I found that I couldn’t get into the story as much as I have with her other books, I found the flow to be erratic at times, yet at others flowed quite smoothly. But once I got half way through, it started to even out a bit, and become more like her other stories that I have come to love. I will say that the ending was magical, and definitely had me shedding a tear or two (in a good way) and it was also good to see characters from her previous book The Visount In Her Bedroom too, all in all a truly wonderfully written story, that will make you fall in love with these characters that will steal their way into your hearts. A very captivating romance!!

Synopsis
An indecent proposal

Abigail Shaw is a proper young lady, hardly the sort to boldly offer a deal to London’s most distinguished and perfect duke. But Abigail, desperate to save her father’s newspaper business, is after a good scandal. She’d have the sensational headlines that would keep the ton talking—and the family business thriving—if only she could uncover the secrets of Christopher Cabot, the Duke of Madingley. What better way than a pretend romance? Yet, with all his seductive glances and stolen caresses, she somehow has to keep from succumbing to temptation.

Christopher finds Abigail—and her proposal—intriguing. A fake romance with the stunning commoner would allow him time to choose a suitable wife from among the would-be duchesses nipping at his heels. It seems like a perfect plan . . . as long as he can keep her from uncovering his one deep, dark secret. But as he falls for the cunning beauty, he will be tempted to reveal all—his secret, his heart, and his soul.

My Review:
Abigail Shaw, has a deep love for writing, her father owns a respectable newspaper, and without knowing it his daughter is one of its writers. Abigail, learning that the fathers paper is having financial trouble, wants to find a scandal that will help her father, and to be respected as a woman author in a newspaper. So when she hears that there is a Duke in the Realm that appears to have a perfect past, she knows she needs to find out what scandal there is in his past. Knowing that the Lords of the realm are used to scandals, this could help save her father, so she poses as someone else at a house party hosted by his family for his younger sister who is coming out in society. But she knows the key part of her plan, is to gain the trust of Christopher Cabot, the Duke of Madingley. But there is something about the Duke, that causes her to be tempted by his kisses, where she starts to forget the real reason she is there. Christopher, after having a terrible event happening in his past, he overcomes it and prevents any scandal occuring. But when a young woman comes to him with a proposal that he can’t deny, he knows he is in deep trouble. For he is getting closer attached to this woman who tempts him to sharing his secrets and thought to her. But what will happen when he falls for this enticing beauty where despite the deceptions he has found something more precious than he ever thought he would find.

I have always loved reading from Gayle Callen, and Never Dare A Duke was no different. I love the whole aspect of the mystery side of the story. It kept me in suspense until the very end. Christopher in his younger years suffered and has to live with it ever since, and just when he starts to come to terms with his past, he meets Abigail who is unlike any other woman he has ever met. There is a mystery about her, and he is anxious in his endeavor to find the truth. Abigail, at first is firm in her resolve to find the scandal in Christophers past, however after spending time with him, and sharing some intimate moments, she starts to doubt herself in the plan she has set in motion, wondering if she could ever hurt the one who has made her feel and experience things she never thought she ever would in her lifetime, and find a love so precious she never would want to give him up. As we see these two characters collide, and a ride that will take them and bring them exquisite joy and sorrow, we also see a tender love that blossoms between the two but will it destroy them or unite them? I found I truly enjoyed reading this story, and plus the cover is every bit as tempting and sensual as the story portrays. Never Dare A Duke is truly a WONDERFUL read!!!

Synopsis
The biggest secret in London is about to be . . . revealed.

Every gentleman is wondering: Who is the beauty in the scandalous nude portrait hanging in one of London’s most fashionable clubs? Is it true that she’s a member of the ton? Who would be so daring? So reckless?

Julian Delane, Earl of Parkhurst, has a good idea. So good, in fact, that he’s willing to make a wager on it. If only the bet were all that’s at stake…
Determined to clear the family name from a scandal that claimed his father’s life, Julian believes the ravishing model will lead him to answers. Rebecca Leland—spirited, adventurous, with a bit of a wild streak—is just as determined to evade his questions. But when Julian finally corners his quarry, he may find Rebecca well worth the pursuit.

My Review:
Every Gentleman in London has seen the most sensual painting, that has them all wondering who this mysterious lady could be? And why would she do such a thing?  So when three young women come in the night, in hopes of stealing the painting in hopes that no one would be able to guess who, they are caught red handed by Julian Delane and his two friends. Then there is a wager placed between them, on who can guess the true identity of this woman, but if they never guess right, then the three woman get to keep it. So goes the battle between friends and sexes. However Rebecca Leland never thought that this painting and the necklace that she carries called “Scandalous Lady” would draw so much attention to herself, attention that puts her life in danger. So she flee’s London, however Julian follows her and then vows to protect her until they know who is behind it. In this enticing book we see how Julian realizes how precious Rebecca is to him, and they neither of them wants to give up the priceless love they have found in each others arms.

I found this one to be a endearing but also a adventurous story. At the beginning we have this silly wager between these two, but then the plot really thickens up with excitement when Rebecca’s life is in danger, but what she never suspects is that Julian is a fierce protector and lover. I truly loved the plot and all of the characters in this book. Both main and sub ones. Rebecca is a spirited young lady, but has suffered much in her young life as well. Even though she has been surrounded by loved ones, her childhood was filled with illness after illness, never being able to live a life of adventure that she has only dreamed of. She has such a inner strength and perserverance to not be afraid of illness, but to live every moment with adventure and passion. Julian’s family name is filled with scandal, however he knows that once he finds the truth of his father’s death, than he will be able to clear his name, and the answer is in Rebecca, who holds the very item that once was his father’s. But through this adventure they both are driven into, they realize the biggest one of all is finding true love and a passion that consumes them both. I have to say this is one of my favorite series of Gayle Callen, and I am looking forward to read the future stories between Julian’s two friends and Rebecca’s two cousins since this is Book 1 in the series. I have no complaints to this book apart from the fact of the flow of the book. It wasn’t all consistent but for the most part was a engaging read with some good passion, excitment and adventure, and a tender love story.
