Synopsis

THE WEREWOLF’S SERVANT
Thorncliff Towers is done up for Christmas, secure against wind and wolves. But Karina Petri is shut out, too, and the gypsy witch wants what’s inside. She envies the gifts, the feast, the pretty clothes, of course. But her true desire is for the love of Constantin Stoica. Her smolderingly handsome childhood friend agreed to serve Lord Draven after his brother was caught stealing last year. He suspects Karina was involved—and it would take more magic than she possesses to make him forgive…
Constantin has always been drawn to Karina’s dark curls, flashing eyes, and reckless ways. But trusting her has proven dangerous before, and this night holds more to fear than most. The wrong decisions could cost him his job, his safety—even his life. But letting Karina go could cost him his heart…

My Review

I received a ARC copy in exchange for a honest review, thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books.

I have come to really like this series so far, and it has been a unqiue take on fairy tales. I have admireed this author, and seeing the way she weaves a story togther, in a way that enchants you. I first fell in love with Marina Myles when her first book came out. Even though I enjoyed this very short book–took me about 20 minutes to read, so it just breezed by, and if you are looiking for a short interlude, that has a quick romance with some twists of magic and other intriguing elements, with a Christmas theme. As far as the theme of the love story, goes, I liked the way it formed and was set up. I enjoyed the minor conflict but I will say I felt something missing from the story. It may be due to the fact that it was so short, I have seen this with novella’s at times in the past, it is hard to get a good foundation for a story with only 60 pages. But I enjoyed the twist of “Hansel and Gretal” fairy tale on this one, and it had some fascinating portions of the story that really intrigued me.So overall a charming love story.

Synopsis
Sleight Of Hand
Dragomir Starkov poses as an illusionist, a showman performing tricks, his Romanian accent and dark good looks all just a part of the drama. That’s how Rose Carlisle first sees him. She’s a respectable girl–she wouldn’t accept witchy birthday gifts from a demon. But the hustle and bustle of 1912 New York City offers plenty of ways to slip around the strict old rules of propriety. A good thing, too, because once Rose meets Drago, she no longer cares about being respectable.
But the only illusion in Drago’s act is that his magic is smoke and mirrors. Every word of power he speaks is as real as Rose before him, in thrall to his lust and adoration. Drago knows about Rose’s curse, that she will die on her next birthday. But the shadowy threat that stalks her hasn’t won her yet. If she can trust him, perhaps he can save her too. . .

My Review

Sleeping Beauty and the Demon is the fourth book in this series, and I have followed this series since the beginning and I have loved the style and theme of it. I have always adored fairy tale themed romances, but the unique style that Myles has put a new twist on the fairy tales, is very fascinating and original. This story follows up with the original fairy tale Sleeping Beauty and the differences in the story add a extra spice. There is a darker theme to the story, with it full of secrets and intrigue, but there is also a intensity between the characters, and in the end becomes a powerful love story. The characters in this story are very endearing all the way through. Drago has a somewhat darker character but one that pulls you further in the story. His character is very different from what you usually read, he has such a devotion to Rose, and even though at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about him, by the end of the story I grew to really like him. Rose is strong willed and she is the type of heroine you find likable, although she seems to be a bit naive at times. But there is a way that this character is put into the story that you find compelling and real. Overall a intense paranormal romance with plenty of magic, passion, and adventure!!! STUNNING!!!

Synopsis (Goodreads)
Fog And Fascination

Alba Spencer thought her past in Romania and the dark magic that haunted it was behind her forever. She is one of the first female barristers now, safe in London. But London has its dark side, too. A man called the Ripper stalks the midnight streets. There are rumors that her hated stepmother has found her again, suggestions that the nightmares of her childhood are returning. And with them appears the cursed Gypsy boy she once loved, grown into a man more seductive and more terrifying than she ever could have dreamed…

Dimitri Grigorescu has become a surgeon, a gentleman—and a vampire. The lusts that drive his body are scarcely under control, and even he does not truly know what he is capable of. To fight evil and confusion, Alba must rely only on her wits—and a desire that overwhelms her doubts…

My Review

I was able to get a copy of Snow White and the Vampire through Netgalley, and since I really enjoyed the first one Beauty and the Wolf, I was hoping I would get the same fun out of this upcoming release. Snow White and the Vampire is the second in the series, and is to be released mid December. Snow White and the Vampire, is a different setting than the first book. This story is about a young woman, who has come a long way from when she first fell in love in Romania. She is in London now, away from her step mother that desires her end, and she is the first female barrister, which is a huge accomplishment, and she is very good at her job and loves it. Then a man she once knew, a man she gave everything to, arrives at a birthday party, when she is about to be engaged to a sweet young man, who has no idea of her past. Dimitri, has also come along way, although in a different way than his secret love. Dimitri is a vampire, and a doctor after years of training. Dimitri was once a lowly boy, with no chance of winning Alba’s heart due to his station. Now he is a gentleman, a surgeon, and devoted to Alba and has been searching for her for years. Now that he has found her he refuses to let go, despite the fact that he is a vampire, but Alba’s stepmother is trying to kill her, and he must protect her, at all costs.

This story was intense, and breathless, and full of suspense and passion. Snow White and the Vampire puts together two people that are so right for each other. They have a past, and even though some dark and dangerous events occurred, their love for each other is stronger than ever, despite the years they have been separated. In this story we see a involvement of a curse, a plot full of intrigue and danger, and a passionate love. The characters were delicious and captivates the reader. I couldn’t help but fall in love with these two characters. Even though the story took a bit longer to get into, once I was fully immersed into the plot, I was succumbed to the magic of this authors storytelling. This story is a retelling of the Snow White fairy tale, with a few twists to the story that turns it into a sensual and potent read!! I recommend Snow White and the Vampire to anyone that loves a roller coaster of a ride packed full with adventure, magic, passion, and intensity. A story to remember!! LOVED EVERY THRILLING MOMENT!!

Standing alone in the middle of a stranger’s birthday party was hardly something Alba Spencer wanted to be doing.

A Union Of Curses

Isabella Farrington’s marriage was hasty. For all her new husband’s riches, Lord Draven Winthrop is whispered about, avoided, and feared. Yet Isabella is drawn to Draven’s dark good looks, his strength, the charm he can turn on as easily as she can blink. The impoverished daughter of an Egyptologist, she knows there are rumors about her, too, and the amulet she wears. Nothing more than superstitious babble…

But when Isabella returns to Draven’s remote coastal manor, she senses there is something more at work in the grim gardens of Thorncliff Towers than superstition. Draven is passionate and seductive, but he has a brutal, uncontrolled side too, and a history of secrets. To live in peace she must discover the reasons behind a gypsy curse and a mother’s scorn. Especially when she learns Draven believes his sweet young bride is doomed to a fate even darker than his own…

My Review

When I went on Netgalley to get this copy, I was really excited, because the synopsis sounds way good, and I had heard good things about it. This is the first book by this author, that I know of, and oh boy I was IMPRESSED!!! She has been bumped up my list of favorite authors, I just wished that she had more books out, because I just thought the Beauty and the wolf was a astounding read with a intense plot and enriching characters that lifted my spirits, and made me feel alive. So its coming out this week, so when it does….you HAVE to read this…its a MUST!!! You won’t regret it.

Draven and Isabella have courted and married. Isabella didn’t have much choice, with being a governess she had little option but to marry a man that is rumored to be mad. Draven had spent many years in the asylum, having thought that he was really cursed. Draven many years ago made a mistake that cost him his life and happiness. He knows that he is cursed, to spend every month under the moon, to turn into something wild and bloodthirsty. When he marries Isabella, he ends up feeling himself turn on their wedding night, and scaring her into leaving. Now two years later Isabella wants children, and with little money, goes back to her husband, so she can have security for herself and her father, and children. Only she has one problem—seduce a man that keeps resisting even though she knows he wants her. Even though Isabella knows that there is something scary and fierce about Draven, she senses something good and pure in him. There is also a part of him that terrifies her, and she doesn’t know what he really is. Even though she finds herself falling in love with him, she feels that he is keeping a huge secret from her that could change their relationship. Draven is terrified into what this curse is turning him into. He feels the curse changing who he is, and now that he has found Isabella again, she represents everything good in the world, and he wants her more than air. But he wonders if this curse could destroy them both.

Draven is one of my favorite heroes, the emotional tortured kind.  I really liked his strength of character, and even though there is a wild nature to him, he also has a good heart that is very evident. I enjoyed seeing how tender and feeling he is toward Isabella. He isn’t too bitter with her, more with himself. He is a bit brooding, and stubborn but I enjoyed how rich his character was, and very intense at times. Isabella isn’t exactly the most trusting, but I understood her side of things. I admire her strength especially when it seemed that Draven could be pretty scary. She tended to deal with it pretty well.

A very well written retelling of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. I found this one to be well done and in some ways very similar to the actual tale, but there were certain differences that added a certain flair of originality. One other aspect that I loved was that it was set in a historical setting–which isn’t very common. I found it to be a fun setting for the plot. It does have a bit more of a Gothic edge to it, but I thought that was one of the positive elements to the story. Intensely packed filled romance with adventure, mystery, curses, dark paranormal elements and a exciting edge that will have you from beginning to end. Very Impressed!!! I can hardly wait for the second one to come out later this year!!
