Orpheus–To most he’s an enigma, a devil-may-care rogue who does whatever he pleases whenever he wants. Now this loose cannon is part of the Eternal Guardians–elite warriors assigned to protect the human realm–whether he likes it or not.
Orpheus has just one goal: to rescue his brother from the Underworld. He’s not expecting a woman to get in the way. Especially not a Siren as gorgeous as Skyla. He has no idea she’s an assassin sent by Zeus to seduce, entrap, and ultimately destroy him.
Yet Skyla herself might have the most to lose. There’s a reason Orpheus feels so familiar to her, a reason her body seems to crave him. Perhaps he’s not the man everyone thinks… The truth could reveal a deadly secret as old as the Eternal Guardians themselves.
Enraptured is the fourth book in the Eternal Guardians, and I was able to get a copy of it in audio format, and what a wild ride of adventure and romance this one turned out to be. Ever since I started reading this series, I fell mad for it. I have a certain weakness to mythology, and you mix it in with some romance…you have quite a gem. Enraptured is a story I have been waiting long to read. Quite frankly ever since the first book, I have feel enraptured by Orpheus myself…he is such a bad boy with a good heart underneath it all…and so I was super excited to start his story and see how he got his HEA.
Enraptured begins with Orpheus, is out to rescue his brother who is trapped in the underworld, due to his mistake. So on his search, he runs into a siren,Skyla. Skyla has been a siren for two thousand years, but there is a reason she has stayed one for so long. She knows secrets about Orpheus, secrets that are hidden from him, and secrets that tie them together in ways that she doesn’t even know. When Zeus sends her on a mission, she doesn’t expect to feel these strong feelings again, because she and Orpheus once loved each other, but Orpheus was given a second chance at life, and she hopes he doesn’t remember his past or he might hate her forever. Even though she has been sent on a mission, she can’t deny her feelings for this Guardian, who may be part demon, but in her mind he is far from a man without a soul. He is a hero, who on the surface acts with a devil may care personality, but underneath that tough shell, is a man she admires and loves more than life itself. When danger comes storming on their doorstep, she will do anything she can to save Orpheus even from himself.
Enrapture is quite a stimulating read and packed quite a punch. It had everything I would come to expect from this author and more. I was completely blown over by how well this story was written and it passed every expectation I had, and as a added plus, the narrator did a wonderful job in portraying the characters and tone of the story with the inflection of her voice, so it is a winner in my book. We have a second chance love story…which is always my favorite types, and their is a bit of a forbidden love, but boy do they overcome obstacles and find their way together. They were a great pair, and really had a connection, and in the beginning it is just physical, but as the story progresses we see much more depth to their relationship, and when you combine that with the exciting plot, you have quite a jewel.
Overall a paranormal romance, mixed with danger and passion and quite a bit conflict, some hard to win battles, and a love that never dies….IRRESISTIBLE!!!
Nick sacrificed himself so that, Isadora, both his and his brothers mate, could have a chance for freedom with the man she loved and their daughter. So she made a deal, and has done some of the most terrible things, and has been in charge of Nicks torture sessions, and has despised every moment and is started to believe she is irredeemable. When a chance comes to escape, she takes it, and takes Nick with her, knowing that she can’t leave him there in that hellhole. From the moment of their escape, Nick, takes control of the situation, and passion ignites, and Nick is battling within himself, to stay in control, and only Cynna can center him. But soon he will have to choose to fight or give into temptation and the darkness that is spreading throughout him…
Twisted is the seventh installment in this amazing series by Elisabeth Naughton. The Eternal Guardians is a series based on a mythology theme. Nick is a special guardian, and very unique. He has spent his life protecting those from the wrath of the gods, and has been their leader. I have been watching Nick since the first few books in the series, and I have been waiting quite some time for his story. I will say that you can read it as a stand alone if you need to, but I would recommend you read the books in order if you can. I have yet to read books 4 and 5, so there was some things that kinda got me a bit lost, but I was able to catch on quickly to the story, and there is definitely history with Nick and some of the other characters that play a active role.
Twisted is pretty much what the title implies, there is so many “twisted” circumstances involved in play of the plot, but it works so well, and Naughton has really stunned me with her detail and being able to completely draw me into the story, that I had stayed up all night reading it, because I was so hooked. There is quite a bit of depth intertwined with the plot that really captivates you. In the beginning of the story you see both sides of Nick and Cynna. As they begin to delve deeper into their relationship, and certain aspects start to come to light, you gain a deeper respect for both of them as characters. They were such a solid pair, and even though I had a little issue with Cynna, for the most part I adored her. She became a endearing character for me, and I really started to like her even when I didn’t think I could or even wanted to. At times she seems to always be running away (which was very annoying and I wanted to scream at her and yell “what the heck are you doing girl running from that gorgeous man who adores you??) Crazy woman!! Anyway, you start to understand her character more and the reasons behind her running, and Nick, well he is great. He just keeps chasing her. Which was awesome seeing the way he never gives up on her, after all he has gone through, he isn’t willing to just let her go.
This story is pretty complex and has quite a few aspects that really put me through the emotional ringer, that resulted in a fully satisfying read that is fast paced and intricately written to endear the reader to this amazing talent of Elisabeth Naughton. This author will magically draw you into this world of mythology, suspense, passion, and loaded with plenty to satisfy your hunger!! RICHLY CRAFTED!!
Roman Nicolis, has lived for almost two thousand years, he is immortal, but cursed. He made a mistake and now he has watched the woman he loves die six times, and each time he loses a part of himself. Now he is a billionaire, and runs a security firm, and makes billions. Then he he is hired to protect a woman that has been attacked, a woman that is his lost love, and this is her seventh reincarnation and the only way for the curse to be broken is for Stella to remember her past lives. Stella has never known family or real love, she was raised in foster care, works as a waitress, and one night ends up being attacked by a masked man, who scars her, but she somehow survives. Then she meets her protection, a man that reminds her of her attacker, but there is something different about him. As the danger keeps getting closer to Stella, Roman is determined to destroy this new threat, only he will never see that its easier said than done, and it could cost him Stella and he could lose her once again…but will Roman and Stella be able to destroy their enemy together and find eternity together?
Eternity is the first book in her Ra series. I have never heard of this author until now. Even though this book was published almost a year ago, it became available on Netgalley, and I thought well the cover is yummy, and the blurb sounds enticing, so why not try it out? I am glad that I found a new author!! This story was so great and I had such a fun time with this fast paced paranormal romance that got my heart rate up…who needs cardio right? Well the story begins with Stella being attacked and left for dead, only for some reason she doesn’t die like the “Stranglers” other victims did, and even though her face is scarred, she is alive and she meets Roman. Roman is desperate to keep Stella alive and will do anything to keep her safe. He doesn’t know if he can survive losing her again. As they are forced together to keep Stella safe, a sensual desire erupts and soon they are starting to fall for each other. But then the plot really thickens and soon Roman and Stella are on the run for their lives and desperate to kill this creature after them. There is quite a lot that happens in this story, but the author does a great job in sucking you into a world of danger, paranormal creatures, and Egyptian mythology. This is a story that is exciting to the very end, and I just couldn’t put it down. It had me on the edge of my seat all the way through, and I LOVED it!!
Overall I found Eternity to be a great start to this series that won me over within the first few pages. Precise details, intriguing characters, and a plot that thickens with every chapter and has you wrapped in foil and refuses to let go until the end. It will keep you enthralled with each page….THRILLING AND MESMERIZING!!!
My Review (May contains Spoilers)
I have recently come to adore this series, and I started at some of the earlier books…where you start to really love Acheron, and the moment this book became available to me through a free online audio library that is available through my local library….I just had to pick this one up. It is a long one, and since it is a audio book it took me some time to get through it. To be honest, the first half of the book…is really difficult to get through. It starts at the beginning of seeing his mother who was forced to give him up so he could survive not knowing what he would go through. When he is born a twin to a mortal queen, he should have been adored and treated like a prince right?? Wrong!! The only difference in looks between himself and his twin..his swirling silver eyes. Those eyes made him be rejected by his family except for one person…his older sister Rissa.
We see Acheron as a little boy being abused and beaten by his father, then skip years later to when he was a teenager…and oh the things we see I just wanted to cry for him. Rissa loves her brother, even though she is naive to the ways of her family and the ways of the world….she adores her brother. The rest of his mortal life is heartbreaking, and I will warn you, you need a box of tissues. Then Artemis steps in and I the more you see the way she uses him ….I wanted to strangle that “Heffer goddess” (according to Simi). Then we see him find out his true parentage, and events turn pretty crazy and we the man he becomes as he is in the present. There is so much depth and character to Acheron….he blew me away!! What a man and a god….amazing!! LOVE him so much!! But does it end there?? no he needs to have his happy ending right? An the woman for him is NOT artemis…thank goodness!!
We see a young woman enter into the story…a woman that is the perfect mate for Acheron in every way. She is everything he needs to heal from the past. Everyday he is reminded of his past and it haunts him. Tory is a historian and archaeologist. She is passionate about her work. Her family has been mocked and ridiculed…and is determined to make sure her parent’s deaths are redeemed, by bringing honor and dignity and respect to their life’s work…the find of Atlantis. She knows it exists. But at a presentation, of the most renown scientists and historian’s she is mocked by Acheron. Acheron is shocked to see that this small woman may be the means to destroying him. No one must know the truth of his past or his connection to Atlantis. It could destroy the world. At first Tory only sees a man that dresses in black, handsome, but a scoundrel, wears piercings and is dangerous. She thinks him a college frat boy who doesn’t know anything….little does she know that he is older than she could imagine. The romance is a bit rocky at first, but when Tory is in danger from enemies unknown to even Acheron…he knows he must protect her at all costs. Acheron and Tory form a strong link to each other…a bond that begins with friendship and then to a burning passion. Acheron knows he can’t have this woman, who is beautiful and spirited and passionate…a woman too good for the likes of him. But Tory….she fights and protects those she calls loved ones…and when she starts falling in love with him. She realizes she would do anything for this man….no one would keep her from him even Acheron himself. Then Simi steps in and well we all love Simi, and I wondered how she would be with Tory….and have no fear I can just see them shopping together. Simi is charming, with a love of BBQ sauce, protector of Acheron and bitter enemy of Artemis ( who wouldn’t love this demon who worms her way into your heart)
The romance between Acheron and Tory is passionate, vibrant and riveting in the emotional sense. When Acheron learns to trust the one woman he has loved more than any other….he believes she will reject him but I love a strong heroine, and Tory is a favorite of mine. She has such strength, and is willing to stand up for Acheron in such a way that breaks your heart!! After reading the first half and really seeing the kind of man Acheron is….and then to see Tory and the way she is with him and the manner in which she fights for the man she adores…it is truly breathtaking. The love between them is so tender yet wildly passionate. It tugs at your heart strings, and sings a tune of deep love and devotion, fighting for your mate, and a tale to bring tears to your eyes yet a smile on your face.An epic romance story guaranteed to enthrall you!!!
“Oh, see then, the Simi is not in trouble. I just kill the Greek god and all’s fine.” “You can’t kill a Greek god, Simi. It’s not allowed.” “There you go again, , saying no to the Simi. Don’t eat that, Simi. Don’t kill that, Simi. Stay here, Simi. Go to Katoteros, Simi, and wait for me to call you. I don’t like being told no, akri. ” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “A monster. I despise my true form.” “I can’t imagine why. Other than killing me, you were actually cute in a very Papa Smurf kind of way.” “Papa Smurf? I don’t look like Papa Smurf.” “No, baby, you don’t at all. You look like sex on a stick. Now is your ego all better? ” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “ I know better than to interfere with the natural order, but I couldn’t let you die. I didn’t want to watch you suffer.” “Why would you do that?” He led her hand to his face so that she was touching his cheek as he stared at her. His eyes and the pain in them burned her soul deep. “Because I don’t feel broken when you look at me.” My Grade
