One naughty little masquerade can’t hurt…

Unladylike Behavior

Frances Hadley has managed her family’s estate for years. So why can’t she request her own dowry? She’ll have to go to London herself and knock some sense into the men interfering in her life. With the nonsense she’s dealt with lately, though, there’s no way she’s going as a woman. A pair of breeches and a quick chop of her red curls, and she’ll have much less to worry about…

Jack Valentine, third son of the famous Duchess of Love, is through being pursued by pushy young ladies. One particularly determined miss has run him out of his own house party. Luckily the inn has one bed left—Jack just has to share with a rather entertaining red-headed youth. Perhaps the two of them should ride to London together. It will make a pleasant escape from his mother’s matchmaking melodrama!

My Review
I was really excited to read Surprising Lord Jack, the second in the Duchess of Love series. The first book Bedding Lord Ned is what got me addicted to this author. I love her carefree and fun style of writing. Jack is well known as a rake and scoundrel, but I knew that I would love his story, because from the previous book you see that there is a lot more to him that the image he portrays to society. It begins with Jack and Frances being thrown together and caught up in a situation that was just poor luck. Frances, wanting to escape a marriage she doesn’t want, leaves her aunt and home and dresses in boy clothing, cuts her hair, and heads toward London. The last thing she expects is to be put in a scandal with Lord Jack at her side, one of the most well known rakes of the Ton. However soon she learns that beneath the rakish exterior, is a man with a purpose in life, and dreams and goals and who is honorable. I had many high expectations for Surprising Lord Jack , and for the most part I enjoyed it. I did have a difficult time getting into the story and so it took me a bit longer to read, but once I was about halfway through the story, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down until I finished it, despite the fact that I had to work way early the next morning, but I was determined to find out the outcome. I found this book a enjoyable read, and a story you can relax into, and not stress too much. It had a balanced blend of witty humor and fun scenes to complete a delightful read. Definitely can’t wait for the next one in the series, which I have been waiting for ever since I read the first book. Fully recommend Surprising Lord Jack.

Synopsis
The Surprise Of Her Life
Sophisticated. Scandalous. In fact, Miss Sarah Hamilton, a proper Philadelphian, finds London society altogether shocking. How can it be that she has awakened from her innocent slumber to find herself in bed next to a handsome–and exceedingly naked–man? The laughing onlookers standing in the doorway are no help whatsoever and surely this amorous lunatic cannot be a duke, as he claims. She is compromised–though she most certainly will not marry him!
The Sweetest Moment Of His
James, the Duke of Alford, is enchanted by his unexpected bedmate–and not at all afraid of her pink-cheeked fury. True, the circumstances and place of their meeting are most unusual, but the spirited American who’s pummeling him with a pillow is an incomparable beauty. If Sarah will only listen to his perfectly reasonable explanation, James is sure that he can capture her heart. . .forever.

My Review
I recently discovered this author, and I have to say every time I read her I am amazed by how much I have enjoyed her so far. I checked my library for more of her books, and found the Naked Nobility series. The “Naked Duke” is the first in the series, and a good start. I definitely plan on reading more from this author. At first when I picked this up, the cover didn’t exactly encourage me, but after reading the blurb, I wanted to give it a chance. I was in the mood for something quirky and fun and Sally Mackenzie definitely delivered a fantastic read.

James, the Duke of Alford, knows that he will have to marry soon. His cousin hates him with a passion, and is jealous of his position. And James knows that he will come after him eventually. The only way to guarantee his safety and that of his sister, is to marry. He knows that the pickings are very slim, but he knows this is what needs to be done. Unlike most lords, he isn’t intimidated  by marriage and family. When at a inn he finds himself in a bed with a stranger, but a beautiful and naked woman, he is beyond intrigued. Sarah is on her way to see her uncle, after her father dies and nearly destitute, promised her father on his death bed, to seek a home with her family in England. When stopping at a Inn for the night, a strange man, pays for a room, and she ends up waking to a naked Duke, and being seen by quite a few people. Now ruined, she will have no choice but to marry him. However Sarah is American, she thinks the British ways of ruination are ridiculous. However she can’t help but be fascinated by James, and she starts to realize that she, more than anything, would love to share his bed and his life.

James has known he will be a Duke since he was practically in diapers. He has always accepted who he is, and even though his father tried to mold him into a certain man, James has become his own person. He will pick his own wife, and when he ends up in bed with Sara, he knows he wants her for his wife. James is very un typical of the normal aristocrat. He isn’t conceited or a rake, he is actually a virgin. Which I liked that aspect of his character, even though he is very passionate and sensual, he has never wanted anyone like he wants Sara. Sara is independent, willful, and her passion matches James. I really liked how these two work together. They instantly spark, but there is also a emotional connection that develops that strengthens their bond even more. I liked how Sara just didn’t except things as they were, she made James work for it. I felt that she could have trusted him a bit more but overall really loved these two.

This was such a fun and sweet story. I just flew right through it, I enjoyed it so much. It wasn’t the type to totally capture you, but the kind of story that will take you on a sweet ride. Very enjoyable, and the characters were enriching and quirky at times. There was a sense of playfulness between James and Sara that was a hoot to witness. A marvelous story that has much more than a romance, it has quite a bit of a mystery/suspenseful twist to it. It has enough witty and sexy fun to hold your interest and more. It has flair for the dramatic but in a light way that will make you earn for more. DELICIOUSNESS!!

His breath teased over her lips. If she tilted her head just the slightest bit, she could bring her lips to his. She was tempted. Tempted? She was starving for his touch. He didn’t feel like a stranger. He felt like home.

Synopsis
A Duke In Disguise…

The day was as hot as the pond was inviting. It’s not as if anyone in Little Huffington was going to happen upon a secluded vale on the Duke of Greycliffe’s lands. And Venus Collingswood didn’t want to get her shift all wet. It was the perfect setting in which to plan her lovely bookworm of a sister’s betrothal to the mysterious new duke arriving seven days hence. If only she had a suitable accomplice…

Andrew Valentine, Duke of Greycliffe, never thought arriving at his own household a week early would cause so much trouble. The housekeeper thinks he’s his own cousin. Actually, the chance to not be the duke for a while is a pleasant opportunity indeed. It might even help him interrogate the delectable little nymph he’s discovered swimming in his pond—if he can manage to get a word in edgewise..

My Review

The Duchess of Love is a short novella that was included in the book Bedding Lord Ned. This short story is about Venus and Drew (Ned’s Parents) and their love story. I wanted to do a separate review for this one, I found I really liked this one even if it was a bit short, with only being 97 pages. There was a sense of charm and sweet feeling to the story. Venus is well known in her country town as the matchmaker of love. When the Duke of Greycliff comes to town, she decides to try to set him up with her beautiful sister. When she first meets Drew, they meet under less formal circumstances and she believes him to be the Duke’s cousin, not the Duke himself. Drew has been the Duke since he was thirteen years old but is looking for someone that will see him as himself and not the Duke. So he hides who he is from Venus, wanting her to love him for who he is and not what he is. Overall I found it to be a witty and poignant story that I found to be a very fun story, a good start to the series.

Pleasure Is On Her Dance Card

Determined to find a husband, Miss Eleanor “Ellie” Bowman attends a ball put on by the Duchess of Greycliffe, fondly referred to as the Duchess of Love. But she roundly dismisses the suitors the matchmaking hostess has invited on her behalf. For it’s the duchess’ dashing son, Ned, Lord Edward, who long ago captured Ellie’s heart—and roused her desire. All it takes is a pair of conveniently misplaced silky red bloomers to set the handsome widower’s gaze on this unusual girl who is clearly more than meets the eye.

After four years of mourning, Ned must find a wife. At first glance, the birthday ball his mother has thrown in his honor is decidedly lacking in suitable mistresses. But he senses something unexpectedly alluring beneath the veil of Ellie’s plain exterior—and suddenly she’s invading his dreams in a decidedly scandalous manner.

My Review
Summary
It has been four years since Ned lost his wife, and he loved her and still at times mourns her loss when she died at childbirth. Ned knows that it is up to him to marry again. Ellie is 26 years old and is still single and has yet to find a husband. Ellie has always been in love with Ned since she was a girl, he was the only one that never knew. Ellie has known the Greycliffe’s all of her life. She was raised alongside the Duchesses boys, especially Ned. She knows that Ned just sees her as a friend and a sister, not someone to love and marry and share a bed with. Ellie knows that it will be up to her to turn the tide where Ned is concerned. When she is invited to a house party that Ned’s mother is hosting, she starts to realize that this is her chance. Only seducing Ned is harder than she thought, she doesn’t want to scare him off but at the same time doesn’t want to lose him. Ellie will have to use anything at her disposal to weaken his defenses and show him what true love is all about.

My Thoughts
I have heard some good and some average things about this series, but I really wanted to give it a shot. Bedding Lord Ned is the first in the series and I have to say I am excited to read the second one now. There were so many things that I enjoyed about this story. It definitely was different and unique and had its own style and even though at times it was a bit predictable, there was enough delights and surprises that made up for it. I wouldn’t say that this is my favorite romance by any means, but it was full of hilarious moments and scandalously entertaining. I really liked the characters in the story. Ned is very protective of his feelings and his heart, its like a iron shield and doesn’t let anything or anyone in. I found him to be a bit arrogant yet so appealing to my senses. Ellie, I eventually liked when she got spine in the end, but for most of the book, we see how much she cares for Ned but refuses to do anything about it. I wished that she would have been more forward and blunt with him at times, it got annoying a little, but she did have some other qualities that I liked and made up for it in the end. Ned’s parents were so fun and delightful and I just can’t wait to read their novella, which is up next to read. I have to say that the Mother’s interfering ways in getting Ned and Ellie together were beyond amusing and she was very confident and I found that I just loved her from the first. I do want to say something about the Duchess’s Cat, who was probably my favorite. Now this cat is not normal, he tends to steal items from guests constantly and no one has any idea how. The only complaint I had is I wish that the romance between Ned and Ellie was a bit more fast paced than it was, but overall a fun and sexy read.  Bedding Lord Ned is full of a sexy writing style that completely captures the readers attention and doesn’t let go until the end. A Lovely story that warmed my heart and stirred up the senses in such a way that it will take your breath away. RECOMMEND IT!!!

Miss Eleanor Bowman stood in the Duchess of Love’s pink guest bedroom and stared at the scrap of red silk spilling out of her valise, her heart stuttering in horror.

Favorite Quote
My heart aches for you, but another part of me does, too.” She turned to face him. “Its very hot and w-wet and needy.”
“Please , Ned? I’ll beg if I have to.”
That did it. He was across the room in one stride. “Ellie,” he said. He looked–he sounded–like he was in pain. And then his mouth came down on hers.
