Merrick is scarred both inside and out, a half-breed with a brutal background, at home nowhere in the universe.

Now they are tied together by an unstable bond which could kill them both.

Their journey will take them to the lawless planet of Rageron—the wildest of all the Kindred worlds. There, in the deep blue jungles of an alien world, Elise must bare her soul and relive the horror that nearly killed her. Can she and Merrick make each other whole or will Elise run from her pain?

If she does, Merrick cannot help but chase her…Elise is being Pursued.

My Review

Summary

Merrick and Elise have just returned back to Earth, after Merrick rescued Elise, where she was tortured and only she knows how damaged she is. From the first moment that Elise meets Merrick she is drawn to him. When they return to Earth, he learns that she is engaged, but having been so consumed with thoughts of Merrick, she forgets to tell him before its too late. Now he has washed his hands of her, but when they learn that her life is in danger, and only Merrick can save her, they are forced together. Elise knows that she loves Merrick, and that they have a bond, but they are told that when she was rescued, they made a “artificial” bond, which is unhealthy and will eventually kill them both. So they are sent on a mission, to go to “Rageron”, the most wild of all the Kindred worlds, and they will have to go to the “Deep Blue” jungle, that is infamous for the danger and where the Ancients run it with a tight fist. The danger escalates when they have to steal a certain plant, that is the key to breaking their bond. As they face the dangers of the jungle together, they will learn of sacrifice and that true love can conquer any…no matter the torments of their pasts or the unhealthy bond they have to break…but will that love still be there when their bond breaks or will it be erased?

The Hero

Merrick, is considered not a true kindred, he is looked at as scarred, and an outcast and has been looked down upon ever since he was born. His father died when he was young, and through a twist of fate and circumstances, was scarred and tormented. Merrick doesn’t believe that he has any redeemable qualities until he meets Elise…whose torment more than matches his own. Merrick…oh Merrick….what a hero we have here. He was breathtakingly gorgeous, sweet and patient, and did he know how to give a gal a orgasm. He is sexy, and his scars, they don’t matter to our heroine of the story. Merrick is strong and when you learn of his past, well he earned many “brownie” points in my book. He tends to get a bit impatient and stubborn, but I love how he is with Elise. He is the true match for her.

The Heroine

Elise, suffers from a torment of her own, one that goes back further than when she was captured. A memory she keeps hidden even from herself. Elise, because of her past, considers herself unworthy of Merrick. She loves him, but she knows that she is damaged goods…what man could want her when he learns the truth? Elise was the type of heroine, that you just want to give comfort to. My heart just broke for her, and despite everything you learn about her, you see how strong she is, especially when it comes to the man that she loves. You see what she is willing to sacrifice for Merrick. Elise at first seems fragile, but as you see her courage and inner strength manifest itself through the story, your respect for her grows in the story. I just adored her

Plot and Story Line

Now I want to warn those of you, you haven’t read this (shame on you all) *grins* then you need to start with the first book. Now there is about 14 installments…I know that is alot. And boy does this author write fast. Geez, I can barely keep up. And each story keeps getting better as the series gets more entrenched. But you really need to start from the beginning, and the good news is that they aren’t expensive books at all. And considering the quality, and the length…its a great deal at 2.99 or a couple of the books are at 3.99–but that is a great deal and I would highly recommend you try this author out and soon. Ever since I discovered this series, I have loved every moment. Now this series is in the Erotica genre…but would I consider it full on Erotica? No, its pretty close to mainstream but not quite, since the sex scenes are pretty HOT!! But the plus is that there is a great plot and story line with each of the books. In Pursued, we have two that have developed a close bond to each other, and there is only one way to break it…they have to steal a plan from a planet full of danger. There is quite a bit that happens in this story, and since its over 400 pages, it really takes you on a whirlwind of adventure, suspense, and romance. You won’t get bored with this one, in fact, I would say its one of the most intense of installments that I have read so far. Now even though there are plenty of steamy scenes, in retrospect its pretty light until the later half. When you look at Elise and see what torments her, you understand, and boy will you love Merrick even more. Because really, its rare to find a hero like this one. This story is full of some twists and a couple of shocks…and you might need a box of tissues handy. Because I was seriously balling on my break at work!! The writing is superb and enthralling. I was completely drawn in from page one. There are so many things that I loved about this book, and I think the one thing I didn’t like was the fiance’s role in the story, but it did add a bit of flair to the story though.  It had everything I was expecting from Evangeline Anderson, and I can’t wait until the next book.

Cover

This cover is so different from others I have seen, but it does go along with the “science fiction” theme.  What I love is the bold colors, and how they blend together in the mniddle, where the couple pose is focused. Definitely a pretty cover, and one of my favorites for the series.

Overall View

Pursued is a thrilling addition to the Kindred series by Evangeline Anderson. This author tells a tale of emotional struggles, a desire that ignites, and a love story that will warm you on a cold winters night. A tale of sacrifice and the power of true love. A TRUE TREASURE!!
Favorite Quote

“Let me tell you something, baby.” he said, his voice going hoarse.
“Last night was the best fucking sex I’ve ever had in my life and it wasn’t even really sex. You know why that was? Because it was with you.”

———————————————
This was an act of love, pure and simple. And by taking her so slowly and gently, Merrick was wiping away all the earlier, bad memories she had of this act. Wiping them away and replacing them with beautiful memories, feelings of love and trust instead of hurt and terror and betrayal. There was no room for bad emotions here–there was only the bliss of being one with her man and it was the best feeling Elise had ever known.

Synopsis (Goodreads)
Nadiah has the Sight—the ability to see into the future. But the one thing she can’t see is how she’s ever going to be free of the blood bond her parents forced her into when she was only six. Her fiancée is an evil bastard who delights in torturing her and her only way out of a loveless marriage is for a Kindred warrior to challenge the hated bond. But Nadiah has no warrior to challenge for her—she just has Rast.

Adam Rast doesn’t know why he feels so protective and possessive of Nadiah, only that he’s willing to kill or die to protect her. When the chance to set her free arises, he takes it without hesitation, even though his lack of Kindred blood could mean his defeat or even his death. But Rast has a secret, one even he doesn’t know he possesses. When he undertakes Nadiah’s quest, the truth comes out in a strange and provocative way.

Can Nadiah and Rast live through their ordeal? Will the truth about Rast set them free…or kill them? You’ll have to read Revealed to find out.

My Review

Adam Rast is a detective and is very passionate about his career. When he first meets Nadiah he doesn’t believe her unique gifts, even though he has some of her own. Nadiah is insistent on helping him finding the missing women, but when she has one of her visions she collapses in his arms, and before he realizes it he is caught up in something he can’t let go of. Nadiah is Kindred, and even though she is blood bonded to a vicious and evil man since she was child, she is desperate to hold on to her precious freedom. But when he ends up shooting her with pain straight to her chest, that she can barely function, she knows her time is running out. She has dreamed of a man rescuing her, because only a strong enough Kindred male can save her from a lifetime of rape and abuse. But the only man she has dreamed of is Adam Rast, which is strange because he isn’t kindred right? When Adam finds out the truth of Nadiah’s situation a deep part of him can’t resist claiming her for his own, and fighting for her in a challenge against her blood bond that she was forced into. But as he helps Nadiah there is a secret of his past, a secret that could either save them or destroy them both?

Revealed is the fifth installment in the Brides of the Kindred series. I recently discovered this series just a couple months ago, and oh boy do I love it. This series is a science fiction based erotica. Although it is under the “Erotica” category, it is so much more than that. As many of you know, I am super picky about Erotica’s. I just love a solid romance, so Erotica has to be well done in order for me to enjoy it. This series is by far one of my all time favorite erotica series. It is a science fiction based theme, where we have humans dealing with aliens called the Kindred. These Kindred are fierce warriors and protectors. They have a strict society with many rules, and a strong belief system. I would highly recommend you read this series in order since the books are interconnected and you may get a little lost if you try reading in the middle of the series. From the first book I was very intrigued by the set up of the series and the unique way this author tells a romance. And yes they are romance based and in fact I think they are more romance than erotica in many ways. There are a couple books that have  a few bdsm related scenes, but nothing too dramatic or over the top.

In Revealed we have Nadiah and Rast, who we have seen bicker and fight for a couple books now, so I have been looking forward to their story, because even from the second book when we are first introduced to them, we see sparks fly like wildfire. There is a wonderful tension between them, and once this story begins, you see a deeper connection form between them once Nadiah is put in danger. I loved how even though Rast is supposedly human, he looks and acts like a kindred male. Alpha and possessive and so protective of Nadiah, it makes you want to cry. I love how he sweeps in to save the day knowing he may die. The plot is never ending with intrigue and mystery and such a sweet love story mixed in. It does have some sensuality into it, but I felt like it was balanced with everything else going on in the story. I love the focus of their relationship that was ever present all the way through. And oh boy was there some sweet and tender moments, that I couldn’t get enough of this story. A impossible to put down read that I soaked up like a sponge.

Overall a telling story of sacrifice, love and devotion. A passionate tale of two people that are destined for each other, with riveting scenes, engaging characters and a plot to sweep you away! BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN AND LEAVES ONE BREATHLESS!!

Synopsis
His mission: Blend in with the humans. Save the cyborgs. And seduce the only woman he ever loved, without getting killed.

Cybernetic spy models are different from other humans turned machine. For one thing, they never completely lost touch with their humanity, or their memories. But retaining their identity doesn’t mean the military didn’t mess with their lives. Seth lost the woman he loved because of their web of lies. When the chance arises to make things right, he relies on his superior intellect—and irresistible charm—to prove his innocence, and make Anastasia his again.

Anastasia might possess upgraded parts and programming, but the scientists never could cure her of her biggest weakness, jealousy. The volatile emotion made her walk away from love once. Can she overcome it and recognize the truth? Or will she continue to let the military manipulate her emotional strings?

My Review

Seth is a cyborg, but was once fully human and serving in the military, until the test subjects ended up being no more than slaves and they rebelled for their freedom. His partner and wife, he lost, when they were both tricked, and  they both felt betrayed, and he lost the only woman he ever loved. When she enters his life again seeking his help, he sees a opportunity, to prove to her of his devotion and love to her once again. Anastasia has always had to be the toughest and strongest and her competitive spirit is longer than a ocean wide range. Seth even though full of himself and his abilities, is the man that made her feel alive and one with whom she could share everything with. But when she is betrayed by him, she hides her pain deep inside, until years later, when she is in need of his help. Seth and Anastasia go on a journey together that is rough and full of tough patches, to find the truth about the reason why they were created and will have to learn to trust in each other again if they want to survive the next tide that is about to sweep them away…

Seth is the first book I have been able to get a chance to read from this author. I do enjoy Cyborg romances, I feel like if the author does it write, these men and women seem more human and genuine that many other characters we see. There is a simplicity in the telling of it, and you start to gain a deeper appreciation for the simple things in life we take for granted. In Seth however we see a couple that has a rough past and have both betrayed each other, but they were each used in doing so. Even though I fully enjoyed myself in the reading of this story, I do wish I had read the previous books in the series. We see a world that this author created, and you see that each book is somewhat connected to the next. Or at least I can assume so, seeing how this story turns out and leaves me with a bit of a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed seeing these two characters together. Their relationship is full of flirts and comebacks and passion. I felt like there was no enough depth to their relationship, or not enough to fully satisfy me. There was plenty of tension and passionate encounters between this couple, but I felt like there was something missing from the story, a portion of their relationship that I felt was not included in the story. Overall though it was a enjoyable story with plenty of sensuality and excitement, and I loved the style and how I was fully immersed in the story, and had no problem getting into it. Just wished there were some elements that had been included. I am planning on reading the previous books and I can’t wait for the next installment, so I can find out what happens next after that little cliffhanger that is leaving me very curious.

My Review

I have always enjoyed this author, and when I saw this title available on Netgalley, I knew I needed to read it. Lunar Heat is a recently republished version of the title Island Heat, that was originally published in 2007. I have always liked Kearney’s books, and the genre she used for this book was well done. Lunar Heat is a story that takes place on Earth, in a futuristic time period, that involves a heavy involvement of the science fiction sub genre. Lunar Heat is a story about a man Cade who is desperate to do anything to save his people. Shara Weston will do anything to save Earth, even if that means she will have to betray the man that she loves. Both Cade and Shara have a connection from their first meeting, and despite the rocky path that lies before them only the love they have may save their lives and both of their worlds.

I found Lunar Heat to be a very enjoyable read that sent chills down my spine. Lunar Heat offers a unique romantic story set in a futuristic/science fiction setting. The world that this author creates is magnificent, and I loved the way the story sets off from the beginning, with Cade crash landing on the moon that Shara lives on, and then he ends up saving her life from his enemy and brother. Cade is determined to save his people. Many of his people are literal slaves, because they weren’t born first, and so they are dominated by first Born’s. Cade was the one chosen, to free his kind. His people thrive on salt, they need it to survive. Earth has plenty of salt, especially in the water elements. But he needs the help of Shara to send it to his planet. Shara desires to help Cade, and he is the most gorgeous man she has ever met. But then her closest friend tells her she has visions of their planet being destroyed by the actions of Cade. This story involves a intense plot with plenty of danger and steamy desire.

Overall I fell in love with Cade and Shara. They were such a delightful couple. I couldn’t help but admire them both for their actions. I had a hard time deciding which character I liked more. Cade is more honest and upfront with Shara, than Shara is. However you sympathize with Shara’s dilemma, and you wonder how they will find their HEA and save both of their worlds. The story line is full of complications and drama and a world of science fiction, with a mix of paranormal drawn in as well. A poignant yet intense romance that is a thrill of a ride!!! Be prepared to fly off your seats in this one!!

Synopsis
Two Lonely Hearts . . .

Kalindi MacNeil survived the devastating enemy airship attack that obliterated Liverpool, but even her engineering skills can’t seem to repair her broken heart. Seeking to put her life back together, Kali retreats to a desolate, deserted island–only to discover she’s not alone. Captain Fletcher Adams, an elite man/machine hybrid, a Man O’ War, crashed his battle-damaged airship into the island after the destruction of Liverpool, never expecting to survive the wreck. But survive he did.

One Desire . . .

Believing he is nothing but a living weapon, Fletcher is wary of his newfound companion–a pretty, damaged, but determined young woman. Together they are stranded on the island, and it is only a matter of time until desire gets the best of them both. Soon Kali and Fletcher each find that they may be just what the other needed. But a danger from beyond the island puts them to the test. Will it rip them apart or bond their hearts forever?

My Review
I was given the opportunity to read Skies of Gold through Avon and Edelweiss in return for a honest review. When I received this, I was pretty excited. This is the first of this author that I have had a chance to read. Even though its the last in the series, I had no reservation in reading this. When you read the synopsis, it just draws you in and you can hardly wait to get started. Another aspect of this story that is another first is the Steampunk like theme to it.

It starts with Kali heading on her way to live in seclusion on a island for a time. Recently Liverpool, England, has been attacked and bombed, and she barely survived. She still has nightmares of that time, and where she lost a part of herself that she fears she will never get again. She has lost her zest for living. Hoping that living on the island will help. When she first arrives she assumes that she is the only one at the island. After a couple of days she runs into a large and forbidding stranger, who stirs her blood with passion. He is one of the “Man o Wars”. They are legendary, and rare, and she has always respected their abilities. Fletcher has served his country for many years, and recently became a Man O’ War which is a huge accomplishment, and only the select few are selected. But when he crash lands on the Island, he is more than content to be assumed dead, and live out his life here. When he first meets Kali, he wants to keep his distance, because she makes him feel, and that is the last thing he needs, is a woman to worm her way into his heart. But the forbidden sometimes ends up becoming the greatest endeavor.

I found Skies of Gold passionate and a embodiment of why I love romance. The setting was a bit confusing at times, as this is the first steam punk style, it took me some time to get used to the differences compared to what I normally read. However after a chapter or two, I adjusted fairly well, and was fully enveloped into the story and it swept me away with its intense plot and endearing characters, that you are bound to fall for immediately. Fletcher, is the type of hero, you just want to have at your side forever. Besides beings a gorgeous hunk to stare at, he also has a heart of gold, and even though he has a past and is struggling with his own demons, his faults only made him more endearing at times. Kali, is strong and capable and very creative. She is a genius when it comes to inventions, and even though she suffered a loss in the bombings in Liverpool, she doesn’t let it change her life. I love that despite what has happened to her, she still has a strong spirit, and that was one of my favorite things about her. Fletcher and Kali as a couple, they were perfect. He has the brawn and she has the brains, I found they complimented each other quite well. A thrilling tale of excitement, danger and passion, and one no one should miss out on. If you have yet to read this author, go to the bookstore NOW!! You won’t regret it. I plan on reading the rest of this series in the near future!! FULLY SATISFYING TILL THE VERY END!

Heart Mate
Celta Heartmates (1)

Science Fiction Romance
ISBN 0425212408

Synopsis
The very first novel in the Celta futuristic romance series–a RITA Award( winner for Best Paranormal Romance–is now reissued. Set on a planet where psychic abilities are the norm, “HeartMate” is the story of how two people find that love is the most unexpected pleasure of all.

Summary:
Rand T’Ash lost everything as a young boy, his home, his family, and had to learn to fend for himself most of his life until recently now that he is a nobleman and highly sought after artisan, he is now looking for his heartmate, and when he finds out who she is, he sets out to seduce her, only she doesn’t seem to want to be seduced and keeps rejecting Him. Rand at first where Danith is coming from, because he once came from the kind of life that she is living currently, and he only desires to hold onto her, protect her and love her….he just has to convince her that sharing a life with him would bring her pure happiness, because the love they would share would be timeless.

The Hero (Rand T’Ash)
At the young age of six, Rand lost his family and ended up in the downwinds, in back alleys and criminals of all kinds, and has had to fight to live, now he is fighting to hold on to his heart mate who keeps turning away from his advances, but her kisses are so sweet and he aches to hold onto her….he doesn’t know if he loves her but he does know there is a great future for them both if she will just learn to trust in him

The Heroine (Danith Mallow)
Danith, is a young woman that knows she will never have a heart mate, that she will have to settle for what she can get, and when she is about to be engaged to a young man who cares for her, she meets the intimidating Rand, who looks more like an outlaw than a noble, and doesn’t understand why he would be pursuing her so unless he wants her for his mistress….but she knows she deserves better than that. When she finds out the real purpose in his advances, her life starts changing so dramatically right before her eyes that she doesn’t know which way is right, even though her heart cries out for T’Ash.

My Thoughts
Heart Mate is the first installment in this series, and it was a very likable read, the beginning was a bit slower to get into, but once I did I had a fantastic time with these two characters. Rand is so Alpha Male type, very possessive and stubborn to the extreme, and more resilient than most, although he does have a soft side. Danith, is somewhat spitfire but does have a more gentle nature about her. Danith’s situation is unique, because she thinks of herself as beneath Rand, however she is anything but, and the heat in this book was very sizzling at times, I just love this world that Robin D. Owens has created, its so fun to get into the scene and just enjoy the ride. It wasn’t the type of book that would keep you from setting it down, but it was more relax before the fire type of read, and a very enjoyable and exciting at times novel, that was so fun and sexy, and I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series.

But when finds out that a willow is her heartmate, she doesn’t ever plan on accepting his gift, especially after what his family did to hers. However she can’t deny the passion or the connection she feels coursing through her body.

My Thoughts
Heart Dance was a fantastic read, and its been a while since I have read a science fiction fantasy romance, but when I discovered this series, I just knew I had to try it out. Heart Dance is the sixth installment and even though its in the middle of the series I didn’t feel lost or anything, Owens portrayed this world that she created very well, with vivid description that it almost felt like I was there. The only problem I had with Heart Dance would be that the flow seemed choppy at times, so I think if it had just run a bit more smoothly, that it would have been have a fantastic read. Overall it was still a wonderful read with enough conflict, romance, magic and a powerful story that will just leave you wanting for more.
