Synopsis (Goodreads)

Two wandering souls discover that true love needs no words in this explosive, fantastical novel from Vonnie Davis.

Somehow able to telepathically communicate with animals, Paisley Munro has found meaning in her so-called gifts by working as a veterinary assistant. But while traveling to Scotland for a relative’s funeral, Paisley fears that she really has lost her mind. Out in the highlands, she hears distinctly human thoughts coming from a wild bear. Terrified and desperate, she returns to the lodge and collapses in the powerful arms of its owner, a mysterious man with whom she shares a simmering attraction.

Creighton Matheson and his fellow shape-shifters have been roaming this land freely for centuries. Now Paisley may inherit his home, putting his kind in grave danger. His mistrust only deepens when he realizes she can read his mind. Yet he cannot deny that this tantalizing woman makes him burn with desire—and hunger for the prospect of a tender love. Now Creighton must decide which would hurt more: revealing the truth or losing Paisley forever.

My Review

I had just discovered this title a few days ago, and when I saw a recommendation for this one, I knew I needed to try it out, especially since it was at a discounted price…and it was well worth the price and more!! I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this story…and if you like sexy highland shifter were bears…than this is a story you HAVE to check out.

A Highlander’s Obsession is the first book the series, and it starts out with Paisley Munro, who is accompanying her grandmother, to Scotland, to be a witness to a will for her grandmother’s uncle. When they arrive, they have been escorted by some handsome Scots with kilts and on their way to the Lodge, where the Matheson’s have invited them to stay, she starts to hear thoughts from a bear that is human in nature. Paisley has certain gifts, where she can communicate with animals, but she has never before been able to hear human thoughts before. When she meets Creighton, those thoughts become more pronounced, and she comes face to face with a man who acts like he commands the world, but can’t resist his sensual nature or the way he brings feelings for him out in her.

This story was quite a sensational read. This is a shifter romance, which involves shifter bears (sexy hunkiness), who in their human forms, they are Scots…what is more sexy right? Creighton is pure alpha male, leader of his clan, and when he meets Paisley, he is captivated. She isn’t his normal type of woman, but finds her stunning, and desires to claim her as his mate, despite the fact that she is just here for a visit or that she is engaged. Paisley is a woman of courage and most of her life she has been mocked for her gift, but here in Scotland, she learns that she can truly be accepted for who she really is. Even though she is engaged to another man, she starts to fall in love with Creighton, who makes her feel things she has never experienced.

I loved the connected that Creighton and Paisley have for each other. Creighton well…one sexy beast!! I adored this hero, he is commanding, has quite a attitude when it comes to have Pasiley as his own, he is the type to carry a woman over his shoulder if she is being stubborn. Paisley is a strong heroine, and I felt her so easy to relate with…I could see us being best friends in another life. What I also liked was seeing some conflict that pays a vital role in the plot and really keeps your senses alive. There was quite a bit of depth to this story and the romance was just so sweet yet passionate. I loved the family, and I can’t wait till the next book comes out…yay for sexy shifter bear brothers who wear kilts and have irresistible brogues.  Overall this story was exciting, playful, and highly romantic….truly a keeper!! A Must read for your shelves!!

Synopsis
Financial advisor Guthrie MacNeill isn’t a complete Scrooge—he just hates the enormous cost associated with the Christmas holiday season. Needless to say, when his pack hires a party planner to decorate the castle, he’s at his wit’s end. Until Calla Stewart arrives on the scene with her mistletoe in hand.

Calla has never had a client as difficult as Guthrie, but she’s determined to give the pack a Christmas season they will never forget—no matter how much it costs. But when her ex-fiancé begins stalking her and threatening her safety, Guthrie decides to loosen his grip on the purse strings and let out his inner Highland warrior wolf to protect her.

My Review

I received a ARC in return for a honest review.

Calla is a event and wedding planner, and has a job with Guthrie MacNeil, in making their Christmas celebration the best one yet. Calla has always felt a attraction to Guthrie, and even though she has recently left her fiancee, she can’t resist Guthrie and the attraction that has always been there. Guthrie is still suffering from a relationship gone bad, even though he cares for Calla, the last thing he wants to risk is falling in love with her and wanting her for his mate than have to lose her again. But as events progress closer to Christmas, Calla’s Fiancee begins stalking her and making threats, and the tight control that Guthrie has on himself becomes harder to control when he realizes that his mate’s life is being threatened and will do everything in his will power to protect her.

A Highland Wolf Christmas is the fifteenth of the series and if you are looking for a sizzling yet sweet holiday story with some sexy highlanders who love sword fighting, enticing brogues and wearing kilts everywhere you go, this story is for you. I think I definitely wouldn’t mind re reading this in a couple more months. It had everything you look for for a fun paranormal holiday romance that will warm you up on a cold winter’s night. I really loved having Calla and Guthrie being together, especially in one of the previous books we see more background on the breakup of Calla’s engagement, and seeing the attraction between Calla and Guthrie, and then to have this story pick up, and focus on their relationship that centers around the holiday season.

Guthrie is the financial whiz of the clan, he has been the one to save the clan from financial crisis, and is nit picky about money. Guthrie is the type of man, to shield himself from more hurt. In the beginning he is hesitant to begin anything with Calla, seeing history repeat himself, and he will end up hurt once again. Guthrie is the type to put his heart and soul into a relationship. Calla is dedicated to her work and career, but she also makes time for family.  Calla is passionate and goes after what she wants. She is a she wolf, and a fighter, and when she sees Guthrie in her sights, she sees the type of man he is underneath his brooding exterior. This was such a delightful pair, there was such a strong connection that you see from the beginning, and you just want to cheer for them for the whole story. There was such a feeling of chemistry that emerges within every page that jumps out at you and clings to the reader and keeps you ever engaged.

Overall a winner of a paranormal romance!! I have adored what Terry Spear has done with this series, especially the past few books in dealing with sexy highlander that are wolf shifters….I mean seriously, can it get any better than that? This tale is packed with action packed scenes, rich filled characters, stunning detail, and a fun romp of a romance that is rewarding and a page turner to remember!! INCREDIBLY WELL DONE!!

Synopsis
She’s ready for change…
Colleen Playfair has never been to Scotland, but when she discovers she must spend a year and a day overseas learning to manage her newly inherited estate, she’s ready for the challenge. She even has some ideas for improvements-if she can get past the sexy werewolf who seems convinced he’s the one in charge.
But he’s digging in his claws…
Grant MacQuarrie and his clan have been managing Farraige Castle for three centuries. The last thing he wants is a meddling American heiress trying to change the way things have always been done. He’s more than willing to fight the she-wolf every step of the way, using every tool at his disposal. And if that means taking the lass to bed, well…all the better.
Locked in a battle of wills, caught in an attraction they can’t escape, Colleen and Grant must find a way to work together…or face losing it all.

My Review

Grant MacQuarrie, and his family has been managing Farraige Castle for quite a long time. He has taken the responsibility of taking care of their clan and making sure everything goes smoothly even though he isn’t the owner of the castle that is his home and life. Then he hears that a American heiress is coming to his home to take a look and all he wants to do is everything he can to make sure she leaves as quickly as she arrives…but fate has other plans especially when you least expect it. Colleen, after hearing that she has inherited a Castle in Scotland, she makes plan to stay there. She plans on making it her home. Colleen is a wolf, and is determined to make a new life and start. Upon her arrival though, she knows that she isn’t fully welcomed, with Grant and his men trying to make the Farraige Castle seem authentic from the old days. What they don’t realize is that she loves history and she is enjoying all the attention, even knowing she isn’t fully welcomed. Before Grant realizes it he starts to make concessions for Colleen, and just can’t seem to turn her from him, all he wants is her kiss and her heart….but will Colleen crave him as he does her…

Hero Of A Highland Wolf is the 14th book in the series, and I swear this is one of my favorites so far. I just adored every aspect of the story and I couldn’t put this one down once I started into it. We see some old characters from past books, which was fun and hilarious and made the story seem even more enjoyable…the icing of the cake!! The story begins with Grant having a sword fight with Ian, a mock battle upon Colleen’s arrival. Grant is hoping to shock her, but what does she do? Video tapes it for Ian’s wife….from the beginning you get a kick start on the story that instantly pulls you in. The first half of the story is mainly Grant trying not to let himself care for Colleen, but he ends up wanting what he always denied. In the second half of the story the romance escalates and the plot thickens with Grant’s enemy…and quite some amusing antics with Ian and his wife Julia. There is a sense of playfulness and creativity which is perfect for a wolf shifter romance…they do love their play…and we see quite a play here of events that keep you more engaged with each page.

The characters in the story were lively and engaging. Grant…is your alpha wolf. Commanding, jealous, possessive and way too over protective, and with a hidden passion that will make you weak in the knees. The male who has had his share of women, and never thought of settling down….but Ian proves him wrong. There is such a male commadarie in the story and we see more of their friendship in this story. Colleen is best friends with Julia….a secret they have kept from the men until now. So they have some aces up their sleeves and know how to pull a wringer on their mates…Collen was such a fun and feisty heroine. She fights for what she believes, is passionate, and independent, but accepts love when she sees it.

Overall a wonderful display of wolf shifter romance, with some historical Scottish culture in a modern day setting, a sexy highlander wolf in a kilt (WOWZERS). a one of a kind heroine, sword fighting, pirate playacting, and some amusing scenes to keep you laughing for days!!! A engrossing story to steal your heart!! EXCELLENT!!

Synopsis
Elaine Hawthorn is a gray American werewolf, currently out of work, and on a mission to share in a family treasure. When she arrives in Scotland, she nearly has a head-on collision with one hot, kilt-garbed Highlander, and runs him off the road.

Werewolf laird Cearnach MacNeill isn’t happy Elaine ruined his car, but he quickly becomes her protector after a misunderstanding lands her right in the middle of two feuding clans. Now he’s out to ensure that this sexy female wolf gets her fair share of her clan’s treasure. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but it’s too late to leave his heart out of it.

My Review

Cearnach MacNeill, is on his way to his friends wedding, when a crazy woman driver (in his mind) ruins his car. When he first meets her, his senses flare out, and recognizes her as a gray wolf, but even worse she is American. Of all the luck, he knew from his brothers experiences American women were dangerous, so he plans on keeping her on a tight leash. Seeing as she ruined his means of transportation he forces her to come with him to the wedding, which he is determined not to miss. Cearnach despite his good behavior, gets into a entanglement at the wedding, and has to leave abruptly and on their way back to his car, they find it has disappeared. He suspects its a enemy clan playing tricks on him, and before he knows it, through a strange process of events, he finds himself partnered with Elaine in their wolf forms, trying to make it to his Clan alive. Elaine has come to Scotland to find her uncles lost treasure. But what begins as a accident turns into Elaine being brought along on a adventure she never planned on or wanted. When they finally make it to Cearnach’s clan and home, she is out of her comfort zone. Elaine is a lone wolf, having lost her parents when she was young, and being forced to go into hiding for years, and just recently has changed her name back to its original form. She has no idea how to react to the chemistry she feels between herself and Cearnach, or how she feels with the warmth and welcome from his family and clan. Will Elaine be able to put her past behind her and embrace a future with Cearnach?

I have anxiously waiting for this title to become available at my local library. I can’t believe it took this long to get my eager hands on this one. Ever since I discovered Terry Spear a couple years ago, her books have been a ride, and I have loved every story she has written. I do love shifters, more than any other paranormal creature, there is a certain magic and mystery to these creatures. Terry Spear has a certain way about her, in the writing and the formation of the plot and story line that is too irresistible to resist. A Highland Werewolf Wedding is the eleventh installment in the series, and is a extension of the highland series that is part of the Heart of the Wolf series. One thing that I have loved about this is the setting. You almost feel as you are reading, that the culture is historic Scotland with the kilts and bagpipes, delicious food and the way the Clan relationships are formed. There is quite a lot going for this story, but one of my top favorite aspects is how the author works in the highland culture in a contemporary and paranormal setting, which you don’t normally see.

In the first chapter, you see the instant sizzling chemistry between Cearcnach and Elaine. At first they are furious with each other, but when scent each other, and recognize the wolf in each other, and anger quickly turns to passion faster than you can take a breath. Cearnach is very Alpha Male, but Elaine is no beta, she is a Alpha in her own right. It was quite entertaining seeing how equally matched they are for each other. Elaine isn’t full on fighter, but she will protect what is hers at all cost, and I loved how their relationship develops. Surprisingly I loved both the hero and the heroine. There are times I can be a bit picky about the heroine, but in this one, I couldn’t really find anything I didn’t like about Elaine. She was full of passion and zest for life, and the author makes her come to life. My heart went out to Elaine, since she has never been able to have a man stick with her, when she is willing to put herself out there and risk everything to find her mate. At first she suspects Cearnach of being the same, however Cearnach is no male to let go of something he burns and aches for with a fierceness. Cearcnach is a fighter and protector, but he is so gentle at times with Elaine, and their connection is instantaneous from the get go. The “finding treasure” aspect added a bit of intrigue to the story. As you read this one, you see how the author balances the plot with the love story in such a intricate way, you find it near impossible to put down.

Overall, I found the story is action packed and filled with a intense sensuality yet at the same time you see a side of playful fun you would expect from a shifter romance. A delightful and almost magical tale that blends the highland romance in with the paranormal danger that will arouse you. A MESMERIZING STORY TO CAPTURE YOU!!

My Review

Summary

Duncan doesn’t want to let anything get in way of his goal…until he meets an American she wolf who tempts him with pleasure. Duncan can’t seem to resist her beauty or enchanting personality that ties him up in knots. Shelley, is a professor and has come to the island to do some research on the forests and the plants there. Her family has despised highlanders since centuries ago they were kicked off their land, and now reside in Texas. As Shelley pursues a intimate relationship, she finds herself wanting more than just a casual relationship, she wants Duncan for life as her mate. But when danger comes lurking about, and threatens them both, it will take Duncan and Shelley working together to defeat the enemy that is trying to wipe them out.

My Thoughts
When I first started this series, I just fell madly in love with it. There is just something so irresistable about wolf shifters plus add sizzling romance, and you will have me hooked for life. I always know that when I pick up Terry Spear that I will just love her stories from the first moment. As I have read more and more books from this series, I have just come to see that the books just keep getting better and better.

And anyone who knows me, and well, knows that when you mix sexy highlanders with wolf shifters—-you know I won’t be able to resist reading it for anything. So when I saw this book on the library shelf, which is only a couple months old, I snatched it up before anyone else could. LOL The story picks up within the first few pages of Duncan and Shelley seeing each other at the airport for the first time on the island. Then Duncan being the highland wolf that he is who can’t resist a beautiful face, is intrigued by Shelley and he can’t seem to resist her. Even though throughout the story we see Duncan’s determination to return the money that belongs to his clan, he also doesn’t want to give Shelley up. I found their romance to flow pretty easily, and it wasn’t too quick or too slow, it felt perfectly right. There were quite a few of some fun scenes in the water, where I WISH I could have traded places with Shelley in a heartbeat. There was also a medium sized conflict that turns into a bigger one, but I felt like it maintained a balance with the rest of the story. There was also such a steamy chemistry between Shelley and Duncan. Such an intriguing plot that was formed, and I felt like it was a easy to get into it, and didn’t have any major con’s that would keep me from reading and enjoying it.

For sure to put this on the Keeper Shelf!!! I can’t wait for the next one in the series, and I do hope this author does the other brothers too–they are just too yummy not to!! 🙂 UTTERLY SATISFYING!!

First Line
Newly arrived on Grand Caymon Island with a carry on bag slung over his shoulder and wearing black jeans, a black T-shirt, and black boots–his usual attire when in his commando warrior mode–Duncan MacNeill was ready to locate and deal as harshly as need to with Salisbury Silverman, the American gray wolf most knew as Sal.

Shape Shifter/Scottish Highlands Romance

Synopsis

Ian McNeill, laird of Argent Castle finds his capital squandered through unwise investments and the wolf clan’s home that has been theirs for centuries is in danger of being forfeit for nonpayment of taxes. When a movie producer contacts him with the notion of using his castle to produce a movie, Ian abhores the idea, but it’s his only salvation. Even worse, his people become extras in this epic Highland movie. But when one American werewolf romance author, Julia Wildthorn, slips into the castle under the guise of being with the movie company, except she is trying to jumpstart her muse with writing a book set in old-world Scotland–specifically about his castle and his people as the characters in her newest book venture–she and Ian tangle.

My Review
Summary
Julia, even though a werewolf romance author, has come to Scotland with more than one intention. Julia, has been charged by her grandfather to find a artifact that is hidden within the castle. Even with a hidden agenda, Julia can’t resist the magic of the scenery surrounding her, or how much Laird Ian Macneill  makes her feel alive, both her human side and her wolf. However Ian is totall Alpha, leader of his people and his den, and doesn’t like not being in control. Ian has had to be a leader for quite some time, and even though he hates strangers, and having a movie being produced at his home, is even more loathesome. However, Julia intrigues him, and his wolf only wants to get to know the little red even more. What he doesn’t expect is to find Julia as his Mate…

The Hero
Ian, is a tough highlander and alpha wolf and Laird over his clan. Even though it is the modern age, Ian and his people have managed to maintain tradition of the highlands. As the oldest of his brothers, he is the leader and as such has many responsibilites. Because they are in much debt, he knows he doesn’t have much of a choice to let a filming crew in his home. But when he meets Julia, he senses something very suspicious about her, and is determined to find out what she is hiding. Only he never thought she would be the one to teach him about love.

The Heroine
Julia, a royal and a red werewolf, also defies convention, and writes werewolf romance novels. However she is here in Scotland on a special mission by her grandfather. As much as she would like this to be a vacation for her, she knows her grandfather has good reason for sending her here. But finding a secret box hidden within the castle, will be no easy task, especially with Laird Ian around. What she doesn’t expect is to find such a connection with him, where she finds herself falling madly for him…

My Thoughts
Heart Of The Highland Wolf is the seventh in the series. I have just loved each and every book that I have read from this author. When I found this one at the library, and saw that not only did it have werewolf shifter, but was mixed in with a scottish highlands theme, I definitely could hardly wait to read it.   I have to say I didn’t know when I started reading it how much I would like it….but I LOVED it!! Its by far my favorite book of the series. It was such a witty and engaging story, one that keeps the reader on their toes. There was one surprise after another and I felt myself feeling like laughing almost constantly. I loved both Ian and Julia. Ian is very alpha, commanding and domineering, the kind that is the ‘he man’ type. Which I found so amusing at times. Julia is feisty, stubborn and very headstrong. I found that together they created some heated chemistry. Overall a delightful and very engaging read that had me reading as fast as I could. I truly enjoyed the way this author mixed together a contemporary romance, with paranormal elements as well as some scottish highland culture mixed right in that made for the perfect balance for a outstanding read!!! It has to be one of the best werewolf romances I have had the pleasure of reading.  One you don’t want to miss out on reading!!! (plus who could resist such a beautiful cover…deliciousness) A ADVENTUROUS RIDE OF ACTION, MYSTERY AND ROMANCE!!!

My Thoughts
Highlander For The Holidays was just an amazing read and once I returned from the library it was the first book that I could hardly wait to pick up….Janet Chapman has to be one of my favorite authors now especially since I think I have read all of her books now…I think….Highlander For The Holidays was so firmly packed full of everything that makes a great romance and even though it wasn’t my favorite it definitely was a fantastic read. One of the things I truly loved about this book was how Jessie is amazing in the inside and even though she is scarred on the outside Ian still thinks she is sexy and beautiful and I just love that. And any of you that have read this book know exactly what I mean. Although the ending wasn’t what I expected and disappointed me a bit….it still had a great romantic effect. A Winner!!
