Synopsis:
FROM THE SHADOWS
Jenna dan Aron lived a solitary existence, shunned by her people because she could see the future. She even foresaw her own destiny: to be a human offering, a mate for a savage Leor warlord. When two Shielder colonies had to be rescued and the Leors who were their only hope demanded a bride for their leader in return, Jenna stepped forward. She would not defy fate.

INTO THE FIRES
Anion of Saura found mating outside his race abhorrent, but he had no choice, as his kind faced extinction. His life was ruled by hard logic and physical prowess, with no room for softness or emotion. Bound to him, Jenna faced a life of barbarism with a mate who seemed more beast than man. But in the relentless heat of the wild Sauran desert, Jenna and Anion would wage a battle of wills until they discovered that the heart was mightier than any weapon — and that love would forge shadow and fire together.

My Review:
The moment that I read the book description I knew that I would really love reading Shadow Fires. It starts with Jenna dan Aron has always been able to have visions of the future. For this precious gift, she has been shunned by her people, even the Shielders. She has a vision four years previous that she is to become a mate of a powerful  Leor Warlord. She knows that it is her destiny. Arion of Saura knows he must find a mate, a human one so that his people can prosper. Since their numbers are becoming low. He comes to Jarek to see if there is a willing woman to be traded as his mate. Jenna volunteers knowing that no matter how much she fears this man, she knows he is to be her future mate. At first Jenna is fearful of the powerful Leor, who is known as a brutal race. At first he is in command, expecting her obedience in all things, He soon finds out that human females are far different than Leor female. He expects her to be weak and not be able to handle the kind of lifestyle he knows she must accustom herself through. But cycle after cycle (a day) he is more drawn to this courageous female who stands up to him, despite her apprehension of him. Jenna is at first afraid of this Leor, but knowing he will never raise a hand to her, she learns to start in trusting in his promises and in his honor. Of course she is fearful of strength and abilities, but Jenna despite fears, finds herself forcing herself to stand up to him, and finding a inner strength within herself that she didn’t know she had. Thus starts two determined souls trying to find a common ground with one another despite all their different beliefs and ways.

Shadow Fires, was a astounding read, and I was amazed at how well I really enjoyed this one. I was drawn to both Jenna and Arion, who are totally exact opposites but somehow find a way to work things out, and compromise and discover a hidden love that will strengthen them to the end. The sensual passion builds between the two until they mate, which climaxes into wave after wave of a eclipsing desire. Arion of course is a strong willed, used to battle and being in command and being obeyed in all things, definitely all the way Alpha Male. Then he finds himself mated with the one that is the only one that argues and defies him and his barbaric way constantly. Despite all his hardened discipline he finds himself softening toward Jenna, that endeared me to this character completely. Jenna, is a heroine that everyone can fall in love with. She has compassion, courage, inner strength and proving herself constantly in a place where many don’t welcome her. But in the end she does find she has many friends, ones who will support her no matter the circumstance. She finally finds a place where she can call “home” after never having one. This book is filled with passion, intriguing scenarios, adventure, danger, and a powerful love that was so emotionally sweeping it will bring a tear to your eye. It is a emotional journey that will take you across the galaxy, and endear you to these character to last lifetimes. I encourage anyone that enjoys a good tearful and emotional romance, to read this series, it has been a pure delight.

Synopsis:
Freedom:
In a universe of darkness and depravity, the Shielders battled to stay one step ahead of the vengeful Controllers. Their survival depended upon the quest of one man.

To Iive
Jarek san Ranul had found evidence of a wormhole, a vortex to another galaxy; escape from those who sought the destruction of his race was at hand. But when his search produced the most intriguing woman he’d ever met, he found he wanted something more than duty and honor.

To Love
On the run from a mighty warlord, Eirene Kane had to protect her identity. She was an Enhancer, one of a genetic few with a powerful gift. Then her flight hurled her into the arms of Jarek, a man who both stole her heart and uncovered her perilous secret–and though she knew she should flee, Eirene found herself yearning for both the man and the one thing he claimed would free them forever.

My Review:

I have to say that Catherine Spangler has done it again for me, this has to be my favorite book in the series so far! Its the third in the Shielder Series. Its definitely one of those where you wish the story could keep going on and on. At the end it left me wanting more, because it was such a well written and genuine story.

You have Jarek San Ranul, whose father has recently died, who was leader of the Shielders. Now Jarek knows he has to find a way to save his people or they will become extinct. The Controllers are going throughout the sector and trying to eliminate every man, woman or child on the colonies. Somehow they are finding the hidden colonies, and Jarek has a plan. His plan is that he knows that there is a hidden passageway to another sector, unknown to anyone else. His plan is to go and find equipment to map the certain area, and he has to find a Enhancer, which is the only way to get through this passageway. Then he finds Eirene out of pure luck of chance. Eirene Kane is a enhancer, and has hidden it from everyone, apart from a older woman that raised her and the only one that really loved her. Her uncle, plans on selling her to a trader for a lot of money, for sexual favors. Eilene knows she has to find a way to escape because that’s the last thing she wants for her life. Then some woman traders that we see in the previous book ‘Shadower’ come to give this colony a shipment. So Eilene sneaks on their ship. She ends up on Elysia, and she plans on working at the ‘Pleasure Dome’ where she will lose her virginity, so that the plans her uncle has for will fall through. Her first customer is Jarek, who is new at coming to places like this. Eirene is curious about Jarek, for he treats her gently and is shocked to discover that she is a virgin, in a pleasure dome, however before he can ask her about it he is attacked and injured. Knowing the Jarek could die before she could get him proper medical attention, she attempts to heal him enough to stop the bleeding and start the healing process on his wound. At first she is reluctant, because she is afraid of her powers and abilities, since she thinks she has killed the only person that ever loved her. But before she can heal him completely his friends arrive to take him back to their ship where Chase can heal him since he is a medic, a great one at that (His story is Shielder) Jarek wakes up weak but alive, and Chase is shocked to discover that he didn’t need to do much since Jarek was already healed by some unknown force. It leaves a mystery, but Jarek starts to remember that it was Eirene. Jarek knows he has to find her, because he has found a enhancer. But that isn’t the only reason he want to find her, he knows she needs help and goes about showing her that they need one another. Eirene at first is taken prisoner by Jarek, since she knows she can’t tell anyone who she really is. But Jarek keeps insisting that she is a Enhancer and she is too afraid to tell him the truth. Jarek goes about convincing Eirene the importance of his mission, and that hundreds of lives are at stake and that she is the key. They go on a journey of danger, mystery, romance, and love.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and captivating read. I loved reading Jarek’s story, and is my favorite so far. I found both characters Jarek and Eirene to be deep and emotional ones. Jarek of course, has a duty to his people and has seen what the controllers have done to them. He knows they will be extinct soon if something doesn’t change. Eirene, is a very deep and emotional woman. She has suffered much, she has gifts and powers that she doesn’t know how to control. She believes that she has killed her friend and the only one that was a mother to her. But as she gets to know Jarek, and finds some truths about herself and her ancestry she comes to trust him in the end and in herself. The bond between Jarek and Eirene is a powerful one, and a very emotional one at that. I found myself with tears in my eyes more than once, because the story was portrayed so well as was their emotions. I didn’t have any problems or anything that I didn’t like. Although I found myself wondering why Eirene couldn’t trust Jarek more, but when she does it was worth the wait.  It really is at the top of my favorites. At I wont give any spoilers out, but I will say that the ending definitely made me want to a little jig around the room LOL What can I say, I go crazy when I fall in love with a book!!!! This one is no exception! So if you like deep emotional characters, a exciting and thrilling adventure, where danger is there at every turn, and a romance that runs deep and hot (wink) then this one is for you!!! I guarantee you will love it as much as I have

Synopsis:
Sabin has been in every hellhole in the galaxy. In his line of work, hives of scum and villainy are nothing to fear. But Giza’s is different, and the bronze-haired beauty at the bar is something special. Not only can she sweep a man off his feet, she can break his legs–and steal his heart. And though Moriah isn’t what Sabin had come for, she is suddenly all he desires. The man is a menace, what with his dark good looks and overwhelming masculinity. Worse, Sabin is a shadower, a bounty hunter, which means he is only one step removed from the law. He is dangerous to a smuggler like Moriah, to her freedom. Yet he draws her as a moth to a flame, and even as she pledges to stay cool, her senses catch fire. Then, in his arms, Moriah realizes that this bounty hunter is different. His touch is gentle, and his kiss sweet. And his love leads to a fantastic freedom she’s never known.

My Review:
I have loved reading this series, its the first futuristic romantic series that I have read, and I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Moriah, grew up with no freedoms of her own, and had to learn to take care of herself and her younger sister Celie. When she is free from her father and a man he sold her to that used her for his own pleasures, she sets up a small colony of women. But she knows she has to find a way to support them. Which is where she ends up meeting Sabin. Sabin finds himself at Giza’s, a hellhole of a bar. Where he comes face to face with Moriah, who is a dark red haired beauty. When a fight breaks out, with Mariah in the middle, and he saves her life and heals her wounds on his ship, she is far from grateful. All Mariah can think about is the smuggling deal that has to go through no matter the cost. Sabin doesn’t trust Mariah, any futher than he can throw her. But as they journey together, passions between them ignite, and despite the fact that Mariah has despised the sexual act, there is a sensual fire that flames up that she can’t bother to deny. But there is a secret about Sabin’s life work that may tear apart what they have built.

I truly loved this book, there were so many times that I laughed the whole way through. Both characters Sabin and Mariah are stubborn to a fault, and too much alike that tempers flare out without the slightest provocation. It was enjoyable to see how they slowly get drawn together, despite the danger and intrigue that surrounds them. From the first page to the last page, I was thoroughly entertained. There were a few moments, where I got frustrated with the dialogue, since there were moments in the book that seemed too similiar. But other than that, I truly enjoyed this book, it was well written, with witty dialogue between Sabin and Moriah. The passion of course was very heated and will make your reading glasses fog up!!! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Synopsis:

Unjustly shunned by her people, Nessa dan Ranul knows she is unlovable-but when an opportunity arises for her to save her world, she leaps at the chance, disregarding her own life. Setting out for the farthest reaches of the galaxy, she has one goal: to elude capture and deliver her race from destruction. But then she finds herself at the questionable mercy of Chase McKnight, a handsome bounty hunter. Suddenly, Nessa finds that escape is the last thing she wants. In Chase’s passionate embrace she finds a nirvana of which she never dared dream-with a man she never dared trust. But as her identity remains a secret and her mission incomplete, each passing day brings her nearer to oblivion. Nessa knows the truth can save her, but can she risk trusting her heart?

My Review:
It starts out with Nessa, who has always felt less worthy in the eyes of her parents and the rest of the colony. Apart from her brother Jarek, whom she loves dearly she feels like a prisoner. She aches to get out there, and experience new things and make a difference. She volunteers for a mission where she would be injected with the Orana Virus. Where she could serve a purpose for her people and colony, even if it means her death. She wants to be remembered and do something her colony and her parents would be proud of. Jarek protests of course, since he is the only one that truly cares about her; but she goes ahead with it. This is a vital mission, since this virus has infected many, and they must test it so they can find a vaccine. She is put on a ship headed for Sonoma. On the way however, her ship very old gives out, and she is adrift in space.
Chase McKnight, is a controller who has rights in this part of space, and takes her on to his. Also along with her beloved pet, Turi. Who has been a friend to her when she had very few. Chase beams her on board of his ship, very reluctantly and is willing to take her to Sonoma but tells her it will take a week, and she has a month to get there, or she will die with no purpose. Chase is a bounty hunter of Shielders(which is what Nessa is and she knows that she has to withhold it from him. Therefore their journey begins, and as their relationship deepens and their feelings develop; but Chase is denying it to himself. They both know that there is no way for them to fall in love. But one thing happens after another, and they find it helpless to resist against each other and their tender feelings for one another.

This is the first book that I have read from Catherine Spangler, and I absolutely loved this story. It is filled with passion, adventure, mystery, wit and suspense. The humor in this book, is the best, I was laughing all through the book. I found Nessa to be driven young woman, to do anything to reach Sonoma, and her attempts to run away from Chase thoroughly amused me. I was always asking myself Now what is she going to end up doing next? She never ceases to amaze me, I have to say I was never bored while reading this one. Although there were moments that I got confused, for the most part it was a astounding read, that I thoroughly enjoyed!
