Synopsis
Sometimes happily ever after…

Anthony Hurst, Duke of Kingsborough knows the time has come for him to produce an heir. But first he must find a bride. When he meets the most exquisite woman at his masquerade ball, he thinks his search is over…until the breathtaking beauty runs off. With few clues other than her figure, her scent, and the memory of her kiss, Anthony must find his mystery lady.

…needs a little bit of help.

Isabella Chilcott can scarcely believe it: she is finally at the Kingsborough Ball. As a child, she dreamed of dancing a waltz here and now, thanks to a gorgeous gown she’s found in the attic, Isabella is living her fairytale fantasy. And she’s waltzing with the Duke of Kingsborough himself! But she must escape before he discovers her secrets…for she is not who she pretends to be, and falling in love with Prince Charming is the last thing she can allow herself to do…

My Review

Anthony Hurst, is the Duke of Kingsborough and after seeing his family still suffering the effects of his fathers death, he knows it is time to step up and be the man he was born to be. So he convinces her mother that they need to host one of their famous balls, and they proceed with the preparations, and Anthony sees his family feeling more vibrant than ever. Isabella has always dreamed of going to the Kingsborough Ball and when she hears that they will be hosting it again, she finds herself dressing in her mothers only gown that would be suitable, and attends not knowing what to expect, knowing that even though this is the last place she should be, but can’t resist…then she finds herself waltzing with the Duke himself, a man that only has eyes for her. Isabella, is almost engaged to a man she doesn’t love, but feels a duty to marry him for her family’s sake, but after leaving the ball, she never thought she would see Anthony again. Well Anthony is determined to find the one woman he desires more than any other, and he will find her and have her as his duchess…no matter what it takes.

The Trouble With Being A Duke is the first book in this series, after reading the second and third books, I was really wanting to reading Anthony’s story. This series is about a ball that has a Cinderella centered theme. I would definitely consider this story a fairy tale romance, but with some other differences that relates a little bit with Sabrina. I didn’t know how much I would like this one, when I started reading it, but once I really got into the story…I was hooked instantly. I think this is my favorite book from this author so far. At the beginning of the story Anthony practically falls in love with Isabella on sight, or lust…but it does turn into love and at first I was thinking that you just can’t fall in love that quickly, but when you see his devotion to seeing through this, when it would be all easier just to give up, you see his commitment to Isabella and willing to fight for her when no one else will. Isabella is the daughter of a carriage driver, and the man she is suppose to marry is her father’s boss, she knows her parents love her, but she also knows that this is her duty, even though her fiancee makes her feel smothered and a prisoner. When she is with Anthony, you see how she starts to flourish, and wishes for something more from her life. It was quite fun seeing these two work through the roadblocks and I love seeing a man fight for the woman he loves…he does have to get a bit creative at times, and these two were a pair.

Overall a winner of a regency romance…a story to capture you heart and bring the magic of the Cinderella Fairy Tale to life, with unique elements to pull you in further in the story. A Sweet romance to fall in love with!!

Synopsis
Sophie Barnes does it again in this sizzling Regency-set romance where anything can happen at the Kingsborough Ball…

Lucien Marvaine never thought he was good enough for Katherine. As the younger son of an earl, he didn’t have a title or prospects. Then fate steps in and gives him a second chance, and this new Earl of Roxbury is determined to make the beautiful Kate his own . . . one touch . . . one kiss at a time.

Katherine never thought of herself as a temptress, certainly not with Lucien. Why, she’s known him almost all her life! Yet as she waltzes in Lucien’s arms at the Kingsborough Ball, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Has he always been this hard and masculine? And where did those dimples come from? Kate is not looking for a husband . . . but how can she not surrender to Lucien’s charms when love is at stake?

My Review

Lucien Marvaine, as the second son, never though he would ever have the chance to win Katherine. He always knew that she deserved more, a heir and a man that could give her a title. Lucien has always loved Katherine, ever since they were children playing together, to close friends, and even more. So he decides to join the army and leave Katherine, but when he returns, he meets up with Katherine once more, who is widowed with a six month old daughter. Katherine has no desire for another marriage, the one she had was horrible and disastrous, and the only good that came from it was her precious girl. When Lucien starts courting her once more, Katherine is afraid that once he sees the real her he will be shamed by her. She doesn’t want to risk his scorn. But Lucien is persistent and unwavering in his desire for her and will stop at nothing to have her, but Lucien will have a battle to win and like in any war, he will use any weapon at his disposal to seduce her and show her the true heart…

The Danger In Tempting An Earl was a charming and poignant story that won me over. I have read the second book in the series and loved it. The Danger in Tempting An Earl was endearing from beginning to end. It had quite a emotional tune to the story that balanced it out and I loved the way that Sophie Barnes used a unique set of characters and the setting to write a romance to warm your heart.

The story begins with Katherine and Lucien sharing a carriage together on their way to the Kingsborough ball. We see a friendly interaction between them if a bit strained from their time apart. Then the romance starts to slowly blossoms at the ball where Lucien comes up with a plan to make Katherine fall in love with him. A cunning plan that puts a new spin on the story, one that is quite entertaining, seeing these two circle each other without getting very close to each other yet. Their story is a dance of sorts, and the romance doesn’t exactly begin with fireworks, but slow wooing and I loved how patient Lucien is with Katherine. He doesn’t know the full extent of her reasons for not wanting marriage, but he is determined to win her no matter what. There is such determination and fierceness in his passion for her and I loved how he isn’t willing to back down. Katherine is way stubborn, and after you read all of the story, you start to understand her reasons and the why of it, but you tend to get a bit impatient with her character especially when her stubbornness is worse than a mule. I loved the way these two end up together, and the way it had such a satisfying ring at the end. Charming and delightful!!! Excited to read more from this author.!!!!

He is the next Marquis of Wolvington…
She is a lady with nothing but beauty and wits…
Together they share a forbidden kiss.

Lady Rebecca is determined to find a husband on her own terms, rather than marry any of the aging suitors her greedy aunt and uncle foist upon her. Her chance comes at the Kingsborough Ball, where she meets several potential grooms…yet no one compares to the dangerously handsome Daniel Neville.

Daniel Neville, notorious rake and heir to the Marquis of Wolvington, is in need of a bride, but finding a lady who’s willing to accept his past, is an entirely different matter. When he spies a stunning woman across the ballroom, Daniel believes he’s found her…until scandal erupts around them. How can he convince Rebecca to take a chance on him…and on the love that could be theirs forever after?

My Review
Daniel Neville is a rake and spends most of his time gambling, carousing and spending his money and family heirlooms on his mistress. His uncle gives him a ultimatum, that he has one month to find a wife or he will cut him off completely financially. So he attends a masquerade ball, looking for a woman who he can marry. Then he sees a woman that captures his attention, a woman with black hair, tan skins, and a scarlet red dress that makes his blood boil. After finding her alone in a corner, he finds that she is everything he could have dreamed of for a future wife. She is passionate, sweet and in need of a hero. Rebecca, is under the guardianship of her aunt and uncle who are practically trying to sell her to the highest bidder. But when she meets Daniel, she knows she wants him to be her husband but she is being placed in a situation that keep her from going to him. However Daniel plans on rescuing the damsel in distress that needs to be rescued. But he will have to make a decision that could change his life.

The Scandal in Kissing An Heir is a fun and charming love story set in Regency England. I was able to receive a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. This is the first that I have read Sophia Barnes, and I read this book under a few hours, surprisingly and I enjoyed it quite a bit. This book actually turned out to be much better than I even expected. I found this story to be intriguing and fun and very sensual at times. The descriptions that are placed into the story were vividly real and I enjoyed seeing the style of the way this author creates a story. This book starts out with this couple first meeting at a ball, and they have a instant connection. Even though there is a bit of a rival for Rebecca that Daniel is faced with, it soon becomes clear that Rebecca only wants Daniel. Then he learns about who she truly is and then Daniel and Rebecca are thrown together in a scandal, and soon they will have to learn to trust in each other.

I couldn’t help but enjoy this entertaining ride this story has taken me on. I found the writing to be unique and with a sense of freshness to it. There was so much going for this book that I enjoyed. From the first page, I was completely drawn in, and even though it didn’t rate a high 5 rating, I found it to be a enjoyable story that you can relax into. It had many elements that made it a brilliantly well written love story that makes you root for this couple from the beginning. Overall I couldn’t help but love The Scandal In Kissing An Heir  and with a sweet mixture of romance, sensual setting, and characters to make you feel alive…..this story will charm and delight you till the very last page. REMARKABLE!!! I can’t wait to try more of this author, definitely going to be bumped up my list!!
