Perdita is the widowed Duchess of Ormand, has suffered from an abusive marriage, but when it defending her life, her husband is killed, she knew that this secret must never get out, for there is only a few that know; her family and Archer. But will they be able to resolve matters of the heart before the danger closes around them and threatens to destroy everything…
Why Lords Lose Their Hearts is the third and last installment of the series. And oh my have I had such a fun time with this author. Don’t you just love it when you discover an author and every book you read is better than the last? Well that is how I feel about Manda Collins, I just can’t get enough of her. Now this is the last installment of the Wicked Widows trilogy, but don’t look so sad guys….because I have great news; she has an upcoming series, the Lords of Anarchy which are closely related to this book. Which I am super excited for, since in this book, we see four other unattached brothers….oooh I just can’t wait. This family was a jolly good fun, and I just wanted to jump in the pages and join in the circus. Despite the fact that they are all grown men, they still act like five year old. The teasing and gestures, and oh boy, the parents sure had their hands full with these boys.
The story is enchanting and oh I just love the writing style of Manda Collins. It’s the type of writing style that has you hooked from the beginning, and I am amazed that I just discovered this author last year…I should get grounded or something….LOL…but I have repented of my grave sins, and Collins is at the top of my reading list from now on. The story itself is at first seems to be predictable, but that is far from the case. This plot went different ways and led me on a merry chase, with a couple of adventures, sensual engagements, and a suspenseful element that added even more depth to the story. The character development were done pretty well, and I love the strength and passion of these two, they complimented each other so well, and you see what a spark they have from the beginning of the story.
Overall a story that had me enthralled from the first page, a story to enchant, mystify and captivate!! A story with flair and beautifully drawn characters….a book you don’t want to miss! And that cover: just gorgeous, I love pink and you don’t see that color as much, so I always love it and that pose is delectable…I could eat the hero up. 🙂 A SPARKLING GEM!!

Synopsis
Society often makes strange bedfellows—and even more surprising betrothals…

IS IT A REASON FOR ROMANCE?

Young widowed Georgina Mowbray is settling into her role as Lady Russell’s companion quite well—until the lady’s nephew Dominic, the Earl of Coniston, arrives in Bath for a visit. Georgie’s always found him shallow and too smooth, and trusts him as much as she trusts most men…which is to say, not at all. But Con turns out to be more intriguing than she remembers—and completely irresistible…

OR A PROMISE OF PASSION?

Pretty, practical Georgie is nothing like the women Con usually woos—especially since she seems blind to his charms. But his elderly aunt is so fond of her that Con is determined at least to be sociable…with the occasional flirtation thrown in just for fun. But things take a serious turn when a dangerous figure from Georgie’s unhappy past appears and threatens to bring her harm. Con will do whatever it takes to keep Georgie safe. And if he can show her that all men are not menaces, he might be able to keep her in his arms and never let go…

My Review

I finished this book quite some time ago, but was behind on reviewing it…so here it goes. Hopefully I can recall everything I enjoyed about this one. I have come to adore Manda Collins, and the books I have read so far have been exactly what I love about historical romance. In Why Earls Fall In love we have the heroine, Georgina Mowbray, a widow, and is a companion to a Lady Russel. Her marriage wasn’t anything to dream about, her husband didn’t treat her well at all. She loves Lady Russell as family, and loves her job. Then her nephew, Dominic, comes in, and suddenly there is a strong attraction instantly, but Georgie doesn’t trust men at all. Con has a ways to do to show Georgie of his genuine affections. But  when a threat creeps up on Georgie from her past, Con is determined to protect her and get to the bottom of it. But amidst the danger, can he show Georgie that not all men are scoundrels…but that he loves her and will do anything to keep her!

Why Earls Fall In Love is the second book in the series, and what a wonderful addition it is. I really adored everything about this book. It does start out a bit slow, but it does pick up pace pretty well, and then I was hooked on it. I really love Manda Collins, she has such a way with her writing, and I loved seeing what a sweet romance this one turned out to be. It does have quite a bit of mystery and intrigue added to the plot here, but there is quite a bit of focus on the romance and love story, and it was quite fun seeing these two work together and giving off sparks all the while. What was fun about this story was how every aspect seemed to fit together, and the flow was really smooth, and the danger mixed in with the romance…was purely delightful. I love how this story was well balanced, and didn’t give off too strong on any one element, that it was blended well story and seemed to really satisfy me that made me just want to read more from this author.

I found the characters to be delightful and what a pair they were!! I adored both of the main characters, even the side characters seemed to add a bit of flair and unique quality to the story here. Con…is well simply wonderful in every way!! I couldn’t get enough of him. He is so loyal and honest and doesn’t hide anything…he is exactly what he puts out…he isn’t one to keep secrets. I enjoyed seeing him match Georgie. Georgie, is well a sweet heroine if a bit judgy of men, so has zero trust when it comes to the male species, and it was seeing how Con proves her wrong and slowly courts her and melts the ice around her heart.

Overall I found Why Earls Fall In Love a delightful romp of a romance!! Packed with action, emotion filled scenes, and a love story to win your heart and bring a tear to your eye at one great ending!! A KEEPER!!

Synopsis
When Sir Lucien Blakemore arrives at his cousin’s estate for a week long Christmas party, he’s shocked to see Miss Winifred Nightingale among the other guests. Employed by his neighbor back in Yorkshire, the governess with the lovely eyes has always seemed off limits, but she’s visiting here as a guest—and there’s nothing like a little mistletoe to make the spirits bright…Miss Winifred Nightingale never dreamed a holiday visit with her sister would lead to both ladies spending Christmas as the local lord’s guests. But the big surprise is when she finds the handsome Sir Lucien Blakemore staying there too. The attraction between them is undeniable, but will an old nemesis and a party guest bent on mischief make their first kiss under the mistletoe their last?

My Review
I received a ARC in return for a honest review, thanks to Netgalley and St. Martins Paperback Publishing.

Sir Lucien Blakemore, has hesitated for quite some time to accept his cousin’s invite to a Christmas party, but this year, he decided to go, because the woman he wants to be near during the season is with her family, Miss Winifred Nightingale. Winnie is a governess, and has joined her sister in a local holiday party. The one man she least expected to run into,  a man that is one of her closest friends, Lucien, Blakemore. From the first moment of Winnie coming to this house party, there is a bit of animosity toward herself and her sister. The rest of the guests are members of the Ton, and high society, and even though their father was a gentleman, he left them penniless, and they were forced to find work to survive. But the holiday season is all about miracles, and soon Winnie finds a man that changes her life. Even though they have been friends for quite some time, Winnie finds herself entering into a fake courtship that turns into something more real as they awaken a desire that threatens to consume them and makes Winnie believe in ever after…

Once Upon A Christmas Kiss is a Christmas novella that is set shortly after the third books “Why Lords Lose Their Hearts”. I just love holiday romances, and I will say I adored this one. It had everything I needed for a fun Christmas romance. The characters in this story were phenomenal and I adored both of them. Lucien, is quite the hero. He is the type of man that will befriend anyone, and doesn’t judge and he is fully accepting of Winnie, and is way protective of her….it gave me shills (but in a good way). I love how he comes shining through in this story and I just wanted to kiss him every time he acted the gallant hero that you see from him in the beginning. Winnie was such a strong heroine, you really come to admire her from beginning to end. She handles competition and criticism very well, and I loved the way she doesn’t let what other say or imply to bother her too much. She has a strong heart and I loved seeing her character shine through in this story. The romance was fun and sweet!! There were so many moments that had me close to tears it was so tender and they were quite a match.

Overall a sensational holiday read that will get you excited for the season, with some scenes that will keep you in suspense, and a story that you can fall for!! GREAT READ!!

Synopsis
Even in London society—where everyone knows what you did last season—you never know who’s next in line to walk down the aisle, in Why Dukes Say I Do

TRUE LOVE IS OFTEN FOUND

With her whirlwind social life in London, Lady Isabella Wharton has little interest in the customs of the country. But when her godmother asks her to pay a visit to her bachelor grandson in Yorkshire, Isabella can’t refuse. It behooves her to please the old dowager, since she harbors one of Isabella’s most scandalous secrets. So off she goes to see the newly-titled—and notoriously rustic—Duke of Ormond…

WHERE YOU LEAST EXPECT IT

Trevor Carey doesn’t care about what goes on behind ballroom doors. He is content with the simple life—and isn’t ashamed to admit it to a society flirt like Lady Isabella. But the country air brings out a different side of Isabella—one full of longing and passion. Can her sophistication be hiding a desire for love? When a blackmailer from the city arrives to threaten Isabella, Trevor will shield her from harm—even travel to London. Can the duke tackle the ton on Isabella’s behalf …and manage to keep her all to himself?

My Review

Lady Isabella, recently widowed, is glad to be free of a marriage that was a brutal prison. Now her sister is soon to make a solid match with a man she adores. But when her godmother, blackmails her into visiting her grandson and convincing him to take the full responsibilities of being the Duke of Ormond. So Isabella has no choice, since she would do anything for her sister. Trevor Carey, only cares about the country life, taking care of his tenants and farms, and seeing to his younger sisters. When his grandparents left his parents on their own, he had no interest in forming a bond with his grandmother when he became the Duke. At first Trevor is furious at Isabella, for trying to get him to return to London, to the family who has never cared about him or his sisters until they needed him. As Isabella tries to convince Trevor of his duties, Isabella starts to slowly fall for the handsome duke, who treats her with desire and tenderness..

Why Dukes Say I Do is the first book in the wicked widows series. This is the first chance I have had to read from this author, and I really enjoyed this book, a lot more than I expected. I found this story to be quite enjoyable and fun to read. The setting of this story takes place in the countryside of England, and we see a instant attraction between Isabella and Trevor form. But what I really liked was seeing them form more of a friendship in the beginning, and then it turns into something more deeper.

The characters in this story were quite delightful, and I loved the difference in each of their personalities. The hero of the story, Trevor, has certain characteristics that just makes your thirsty for more. He isn’t your normal hero of a regency. He isn’t a rake or rogue….but just as tasty. Trevor is honorable and loyal, but from the beginning of the story he has a possessive hold on Isabella. I love his treatment to Isabella and his sisters, so sweet and protective. Isabella is quite strong and I really admired her, especially when you see what she has suffered in her past. But she has major trust issues and I liked the way the author portrays this character, and instills a emotional edge to the story that wraps around your finger, and you just need to find out what happens. Some of the side characters were quite fun: The two younger sisters were funny and heartwarming and I fell in love with them. They reminded me of my sisters and I growing up. Even the best friend of Trevor was delicious and I hope he gets his story with the governess (that would be a good story). You can’t help but root for Isabella and Trevor from beginning to end. This story is enchanting, with some sexy chemistry, a bit of intrigue, and a plot that never stops. GUARANTEED TO SWEEP YOU OFF YOUR FEET!!
