On My Wishlist (108)
On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.
SHE COULD TAKE HIS NAME,
Lady Kathryn Grayson is a gently bred noblewoman with a privileged future ahead of her… until her greedy uncle decides to steal her fortune by committing her to an insane asylum. Her only escape is to stow away in the carriage of Lucien Montaine, Marquess of Litchfield, who hears her story with disbelief and suspicion. Yet Kathryn’s instincts tell her Lord Litchfield is a man of honor — and her only salvation. Desperate to save herself, she attempts to seduce him and forces him into marriage.
BUT SHE COULDN’T TAKE HIS HEART.
The moment Lucien encounters the ragged, hungry waif with the dignity of a queen, he fights against wanting her. Though captivated by her intellect, strong will and beauty, he will never love the woman who has deceived him.
OR SO HE THOUGHT…
Though their battle of wills grows stronger every day, desire threatens to overpower his fury. Can this maddening woman who is now his bride melt his heart of steel? Or will her silken touch only strengthen his vow never to fall prey to the dangers of love?
Sweeping us into glittering, intrigue-riddled Elizabethan England, bringing to vivid life an actual heroine in the queen’s court, New York Times bestselling author Virginia Henley blends rich historical detail with sumptuous romance in her latest novel–a dazzling feast of romantic fiction….
Young Bess Hardwick knew that the only way to escape a commoner’s life was to serve in a noble family and marry well. So the headstrong beauty set out for London and the Tudor court, the arena for the richest, most ambitious men, none more powerful than the four men who would claim her. None more dangerous than Princess Elizabeth, who made Bess friend, confidante, then lady-in-waiting in her own glittering court…
Dangerously seductive, William Cavendish, the king’s dashing financial adviser, vowed to have Bess at any cost. Frail, adoring Robert Barlow offered a marriage she couldn’t refuse. Newly crowned Queen Elizabeth bade her marry courtly Sir William St. Loe. But reckless passion drove Bess into the arms of George Talbot, the devastating Earl of Shrewsbury, whose wicked daring ignited in Bess the passion of a lifetime–even as it sparked the jealous interest of the most perilous ally of all: the Virgin Queen…
Who needs claws when you’ve got a baseball bat? Lauren Evans sure as heck doesn’t.
Human Lauren has a protective streak a mile wide and one immediate goal in life—get her best friend out of an abusive household. If that involves a little bat-based redecorating, so be it. Unfortunately—or fortunately—a certain sexy-as-hell cop breaks up the fight before she has a chance to really get going. Grayslake police officer Van Abrams is too hot for his own good, and his handcuffs make all those wonderful places tingle. Too bad he, you know, arrested her and stuff. But then he becomes overbearing, demanding, and commanding. Suddenly Lauren finds herself in his arms, in his bed, and mated to his werebear butt. What’s up with that?
Werebear Enforcer Van Abrams doesn’t want anything to do with humans. He’s got reasons, and they’re damn good ones. He doesn’t need to explain himself to anyone, especially the curvaceous, luscious, gorgeous, human Lauren. Then, his bear decides Lauren is his mate and Van’s anti-human feelings abandon him. He still hasn’t figured out if that’s a good thing. Of course, when danger rolls in from Boyne Falls and joins with a powerful prick from Grayslake, Van realizes that, human or not, Lauren is his.
Van hopes he can kill their enemies and still make it home for dinner.

Highland Guard-Hannah Howell
New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell brings back the daring Murray family in a brand-new tale of dangerous love rekindled. . .
I received a ARC in return for a honest review.
I was really excited to get a chance to read this one, since in the past I have loved reading this author. I set up of the story was intriguing, and I liked the idea of it. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the heroine, with the permission of her husband, sharing another man’s bed to get a child. I am not a huge fan of that particular setting, but somehow as the story unfolded, it worked for me. This story is set in medieval Scotland, and deals with the ramifications of a mans greed and the lengths he will go to just for a castle and some land. The villain is pretty horrid, and I wanted to kill him myself. The lengths he goes to is a bit extreme, but it really added a level of suspense to the story. The romance itself between Annyse and Harcourt was overall very tender and charming, but I had a somewhat challenging time connecting to them fully. But the story overall was well established, and had quite a few entertaining scenes that kept me hooked on the story. Not my favorite book from this author, but I really enjoyed the way that these two came together in the end and I do hope we get another book in this series.
