Synopsis
Stuntwoman Kendra Michaels was just about fearless: tumbling down mountains and falling off horses were second nature to her. Until the night she met Joel Damon, though, she’d never been swept off her feet and into the arms of a man. Joel was a sorcerer who stunned her with his sensual magic, then held her close as if she were a fragile illusion, a gossamer dream. Joel could cherish his “Rainbow Lady.” But could he love the flesh-and-blood Kendra who bore a crushing responsibility… and yet who yearned for the total consuming love that would last forever?

MY REVIEW

Summary
Stuntwoman Kendra Michaels is hoping for a future high paying but also high risk job, which would also help in her brothers medical bills due to a accident that he had on a stunt job. When she meets Director Joel Damon, there is sparks that fly between them at a party, and they spend a sensational night together, but then later anger fireworks happen, and Kendra leaved Joel and steals his car since he has no phone for her to call a cab, in a isolated area. So after Kendra finished her current job, she goes over to Sedikhan, to work on a movie with Joel as Director, and sparks fly between them once more. Joel after realizing how much Kendra means to him doesn’t want Kendra to do the stunt work on the current job, since its one of the more high risk stunts, which could kill you if you don’t do it right, and then goes out to prove to Kendra who is boss, but she is alot tougher than she looks, and sooner or later Joel and Kendra will have to admit their powerful feelings for one another.

The Hero
Joel Damon the movie producer, is used to having his way in all things, and has always had his suppply of women, especially with all the power he wields. Joel despite how powerful and influential he is, is a just and fair man, but is dazzled by Kendra the first magical night he meets her, and he knows that she has changed his life forever, and he starts to think more with his emotions than his head, (which has never happened before) and doesn’t know what he will do when he falls in love with her.

The Heroine
Kendra Michale,s ever since she was a young girls, loves the thrill of risky jobs, and is very good at what she does, and proud of it too. However when she does the most current job with Joel as director, she knows its going to be her toughest job yet. But she loves her brother, and has been working so hard to get the bills paid, and knows that after this job will help more than anything other job will, but then she finds out some unexpected news that could put everything at jeaopardy, and has to keep Joel at bay.

My Thoughts:
I just have loved this book and I love listening to this book, there is such a great narrator and I have just loved reading each and every one of the Sedikhan series. Capture the Rainbow is one of those powerfully romantic but short love stories that will tug at every emotion as you read this story. Kendra is a stuntwoman and has to pay for her brothers bills when he was in a accident, and so she has to take the most high risk since they are the high paying jobs as well. And then we have this delectable romance going on between Kendra and Joel that will make you laugh and cry, and some very intense moments that will have you at the edge of your seat, so this is one of my favorite romances to read especially by this author, and its going for a 5 rating on my scale, but I could just re read this over and over and never be bored.

Contemporary Romance

He appeared in her life with the unexpected force of a desert sandstorm, sweeping her from terrifying danger into the sweet haven of his arms. Daniel Seifert was a fierce man, used to taking whatever he wanted, but Zilah, the spirited woman he’d risked his life to rescue, filled him instead with a passion to protect. Yet when they hid from their pursuers in the shelter of a narrow cave, their closeness ignited an overwhelming need, an intimate sharing that melded terror and desire. Once Daniel learned Zilah’s tragic secret, though, he feared she was lost to his heart forever. Could he teach her the healing power of love?

My Review:
Zila Dubala has experienced a troubled young life, but has been able to heal over time. Then she is kidnapped by a terrorist group, but Zila is confident that she can handle just about anything that will come her way. Zila knows that she must find a way to escape before its too late, however she never expected that Daniel Seifert would be coming to her rescue. When Daniel hears of the plan to rescue a Zila Dubala, he is more than eager, in want for adventure and danger, and this certainly covers all aspects. After being stuck in a office for some time, he knows he needs to get out into action. When he rescues the beautiful Zila, he discovers a desire to claim her for his own. However as they are on the run from the terrorists, they both discover a heated passion that flares up between them, as well as a tender love as they learn to trust in one another and learn the healing power of true love that can heal the deepest of scars.

This was such a exhilirating read!!! I also listened to this one, instead of reading it. I just love the way the narrator, Traci Svensgaard, portrays the story out to the listener. This narrator does all of the Iris Johansen Audio Books that I have listened to so far, and she is amazing, and I would recommend her to everyone that enjoys listening to Audio Books. I think what I enjoyed the most about this book, was how intense their relationship develops, and not only on the sexual attraction, but the emotional relationship between Zila and Daniel. It does have a emotional effect on the reader. The plot is a exciting one as well, with the suspense of Zila and Daniel on the run from Terrorists, it has a certain thrilling aspect to the story, that only adds spice to it. The only aspect of the story I didn’t like was that there is a secret that Zila keeps from Daniel, and I just felt that she kept it from him far too long, and I personally thought she should have told him much sooner than she did. However despite that, this was a wonderful romance, a classic tale of adventure and passion!

Feisty and beautiful private detective Honey Winston had been duped by a client into invading Prince Rubinoff’s hotel suite by concealing herself in a too-small room service cart. When cigar smoke flushed her from her hiding place, Honey rose to face the mocking prince the gossip columns called “Lusty Lance.” But the man she came to know as she looked behind the glittering facade was an artist filled with longing, a man whose need was expressed in exquisite paintings the world would never see. Honey gently taught him to trust her and tried to share the dream he saw. Would the gift of her love allow Lance to escape his gilded prison for the haven of her heart?

My Review:
Honey Winston is a private detective, with her finances struggling, she knows she needs a good case. When a woman comes to her asking her to find some letters for her, Honey is more than willing considering the reward involved. So Honey sneaks into Prince Rubinoff’s hotel suite, hiding beneath the service cart, however since she is allergic to cigar smoke, she is discovered and forced to reveal her true reason for her being there. However Lance is viewed on the media as a royal playboy his nickname being “Lusty Lance”. After being discovered she is then blackmailed into serving as his bodyguard, having been made aware there is a threat on his life and that of his friend Alex. When they head to a remote island, Honey doesn’t realize that she will be in close proximity to Lusty Lance who has developed a unique fascination with her. A fascination that develops into a relationship with aspects neither of them expected to find in one another, one where love and commitment thrive.

I have just loved reading this Sedikhan series, and I just love this author, especially through Audio. This is a contemporary romance novel written by Iris Johansen, who is one of my favorite romance authors to read from. We have Lance, who is a talented artist, where only he and a few others know of his rare gift.He hides who he truly is with a exterior of a play boy, where inside he yearns for love and a family. When he sees Honey, a beautiful Valkyrie who stirs up his emotions like no one ever has, and vows that she will be his. Honey has a duty to protect Lance Robinoff from the danger that threatens his life, but somewhere along the road they are both headed on, Honey realizes that there is a lot more to him that she ever realized. That she is falling in love with the one person she doesn’t know if she can trust with her heart.  This was such a lovely riveting story, filled with witty interaction between the character, a exciting plot and a well written story that is portrayed well with the audio story that makes the story come alive for the reader and listener. I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series!!!

Book Review- The Golden Barbarian

The Golden Barbarian(Sedikhan Series)

Bantam, 316 Pages, Published April 1992
Sheik Historical Romance

Synopsis:
FROM THE HALLS OF A PALATIAL PRISON TO THE HOT SANDS OF AN ENDLESS DESERT…

Here is a timeless story of love and adventure set among hills of gold, warring tribes, and fabled kingdoms — the story of a fearless princess and a barbarian sheikh….

SHE WAS A RAVISHING PAWN IN A GAME OF POLITICS AND PASSION….

Flaunting the oppressive destiny decreed for her by the kingdom of Tamrovia, Princess Theresa Christina Rubinoff struck a sensual bargain with a handsome barbarian chieftain. She vowed to play his seductive game, surrendering herself to his will, all the while determined to fight for her independence in a land that considered women only as playthings.

HE WAS A DESERT WARRIOR KING, DRIVEN BY PASSION AND PRIDE….

Mysterious as the desert night, rich as Midas, Galen ben Rashid swept Tess away to his palace in exotic Sedikhan, offering her freedom in exchange for the marriage that would join their kingdoms. A man surrounded by enemies, he would make her a slave to his passion in order to bind her to his side, little knowing that when he took the captivating princess as his bride, he would lose his heart….

My Review:
This timeless love story starts out with  the willful and independent Princess Theresa Christina Rubinoff has been in a convent for quite some time now. When her cousin Sacha gets her out, she is relieved to say the least. However she doesn’t want to have to go back to court and face her father once again. Tess and her father have always rubbed the wrong way to say the least, since Tess is a free spirit, her father has always been a bit harsh with her. However when Galen Ben Raschid convinces Tess to marry him and bear him a son to help him unite with the other tribe leaders, and then she will be free to go anywhere she wants after her three years are up, she agrees. Having ached for being able to be free to choose her own path in life, much more desirable than the plan her father would have set for her. However, she never realized how much her life would change once being married to a barbarian chieftain whose way of life is very different from what she is accustomed to. But despite all the dangers surrounding them, there is a profound love that will blossom beneath the desert sun.

I truly enjoyed reading The Golden Barbarian, and it flew by so quickly, and by the end I was disappointed that the story was over, I was wanting more and more, but a book can only last so long right? Its been quite some time since I have read anything from Iris Johansen, and after reading this one I am eager for more of her books. I love her historicals, she has such a talent to portray the historic events and scenery surround the story, and it comes alive for the reader. Its very exhilirating for me, to read this one, because I felt so enraptured like I was actually in the story and seeing it all come to reality. The characters and the plot are so vividly written it really astounded me about how much I was drawn into it.
