Synopsis
His mission: Blend in with the humans. Save the cyborgs. And seduce the only woman he ever loved, without getting killed.

Cybernetic spy models are different from other humans turned machine. For one thing, they never completely lost touch with their humanity, or their memories. But retaining their identity doesn’t mean the military didn’t mess with their lives. Seth lost the woman he loved because of their web of lies. When the chance arises to make things right, he relies on his superior intellect—and irresistible charm—to prove his innocence, and make Anastasia his again.

Anastasia might possess upgraded parts and programming, but the scientists never could cure her of her biggest weakness, jealousy. The volatile emotion made her walk away from love once. Can she overcome it and recognize the truth? Or will she continue to let the military manipulate her emotional strings?

My Review

Seth is a cyborg, but was once fully human and serving in the military, until the test subjects ended up being no more than slaves and they rebelled for their freedom. His partner and wife, he lost, when they were both tricked, and  they both felt betrayed, and he lost the only woman he ever loved. When she enters his life again seeking his help, he sees a opportunity, to prove to her of his devotion and love to her once again. Anastasia has always had to be the toughest and strongest and her competitive spirit is longer than a ocean wide range. Seth even though full of himself and his abilities, is the man that made her feel alive and one with whom she could share everything with. But when she is betrayed by him, she hides her pain deep inside, until years later, when she is in need of his help. Seth and Anastasia go on a journey together that is rough and full of tough patches, to find the truth about the reason why they were created and will have to learn to trust in each other again if they want to survive the next tide that is about to sweep them away…

Seth is the first book I have been able to get a chance to read from this author. I do enjoy Cyborg romances, I feel like if the author does it write, these men and women seem more human and genuine that many other characters we see. There is a simplicity in the telling of it, and you start to gain a deeper appreciation for the simple things in life we take for granted. In Seth however we see a couple that has a rough past and have both betrayed each other, but they were each used in doing so. Even though I fully enjoyed myself in the reading of this story, I do wish I had read the previous books in the series. We see a world that this author created, and you see that each book is somewhat connected to the next. Or at least I can assume so, seeing how this story turns out and leaves me with a bit of a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed seeing these two characters together. Their relationship is full of flirts and comebacks and passion. I felt like there was no enough depth to their relationship, or not enough to fully satisfy me. There was plenty of tension and passionate encounters between this couple, but I felt like there was something missing from the story, a portion of their relationship that I felt was not included in the story. Overall though it was a enjoyable story with plenty of sensuality and excitement, and I loved the style and how I was fully immersed in the story, and had no problem getting into it. Just wished there were some elements that had been included. I am planning on reading the previous books and I can’t wait for the next installment, so I can find out what happens next after that little cliffhanger that is leaving me very curious.

Book Synopsis (Goodreads)
Lion Breed, Rule Breaker had just a few rules he didn’t break. Not for anything. Not for anyone.

#1. Never have sex with a woman outside his own subspecies, especially a human woman.

#2. Never, at any time, accept a mission concerning a female when Jonas Wyatt stinks of a lie.

#3. Run don’t walk, skip or stumble. Run, hell for leather away from any female, human or breed, when his desire for her appears, in any way, to have so much as a single sign of Mating Heat.

Now, the woman believes he’s mated, is too helpless, to fun loving and too full of life to ever be able to protect herself, let alone aide him in protecting her.

If the damned animal inside him insisted on a mate, then why pick the woman it did? One that could be struck out at, at any time?

But, what he suspected was a mating, may not be. No swollen glands? No heat? Just his animal instincts rioting, pacing, irritated whenever he’s away from her.

Okay, he could handle that.

What ensues is a fiery affair that breaks all the rules of mating heat and will eventually endanger his mate with the very rules designed to protect the breeds when Jonas learns she’s possibly been working against them

My Review

Rule Breaker is one of the most trusted commanders under Jonas. Rule has been more insistent on the others against a mate. That is the last thing he needs or wants. Even though the breed side of himself desires a mate, the human part is so insistent on a mate that Rule is determined to never let Jonas manipulate him as he has done with many other. But he may not have much of a choice against this certain woman that calls out to him body and soul. Gypsy McQuade never felt love or acceptance from her parents. Her brother was her best friend and parental figure. At fifteen some rogues go after her brother for helping the breeds secretly, she is caught up in it, and ends up raped before they murder her beloved brother right in front of her. Then she is rescued just not in time to save the only person who has ever cared about her. It has taken nine years, but Gypsy has a decent life of sorts. The loss of her brother still cuts deeply, and even though on the outside she appears to be a “party girl” on the inside she is on a mission, to help where she can just as her brother did. Jonas suspects that she is a double agent, even knowing that she is Rule’s mate. So he sends Rule in to discover her true purpose. Rule is starting to have some fierce feelings for Gypsy, but he isn’t feeling the normal symptoms of a breed in close proximity to its mate, so he doesn’t believe they have a future. But soon Gypsy and Rule will have to work together, because there is a traitor, one they least expect for betrayal and the one that has all the answers for Gypsy to come to terms with her brothers death and have a future with Rule.

Rule Breaker is the 29th installment of this breeds series, and I have been following the series since Coyote Mate, which was the first book to draw me into this intense world of passion and suspense. Rule we have seen for quite some time, and I have loved him. He is so alpha at times, stubborn and out to have his own way no matter what. In this story we see a deeper side to Rule, and even from the beginning we see how a part of him has always sheltered Gypsy since she was attacked. It was very interesting seeing how he interacted with Gypsy. This book definitely felt a bit different from the others, it definitely has quite a bit of a mystery story mixed in with the sensual plot we have going here. For the first half of the story Rule and Gypsy flirt quite a bit, and we see a almost superficial beginning to their courtship. It isn’t until about halfway that I felt their relationship started to feel more real to me. There is quite a bit of emotional drama in this story, and the aftereffects will shock the reader. I was stunned how many emotional reaction I got from this story which isn’t normal for this author. But it was basically driven by emotion, and I felt like it had more depth than some of the other books in the series.

There is quite a bit going on with Gypsy, and more than you realize when you start. At first we don’t know what Gypsy’s intentions are, but as you progress further into the story, we see how the plot plummets from superficial parties and flirtation, to a more riveting tale that will blow you away. An invigorating tale of deep emotion, strong characters, steady plot, and a story to sweep you away into a world of adventure and sensuality!! UNFORGETTABLE!!

Synopsis
A future that’s out of this world.
A seduction that’s out of control.
Wealthy, reclusive celebrity, Shara Weston, hides from her countless fans on a private asteroid in Earth’s orbit, but that doesn’t stop captivating alien Cade Archer from crash-landing into her life.
Cade’s on a mission to free his people from cruel enslavement by opening a portal from his planet to Earth, but a powerful enemy has followed him, hell-bent on stopping Cade at any cost. While Cade’s plan sounds noble, Shara can’t help but worry that an untested passage between his planet and hers could lead to the destruction of everything she’s ever known or loved.
Alone amid the stars, the attraction between them explodes. Shara must follow Cade down a sensual path of sweet domination . . . a path that frightens her . . . a path that pleases her . . . a path that could risk the lives of every man, woman, and child on two worlds.
Will she surrender to Cade’s intentions, or will his quest for freedom destroy them both?

My Review

I have always enjoyed this author, and when I saw this title available on Netgalley, I knew I needed to read it. Lunar Heat is a recently republished version of the title Island Heat, that was originally published in 2007. I have always liked Kearney’s books, and the genre she used for this book was well done. Lunar Heat is a story that takes place on Earth, in a futuristic time period, that involves a heavy involvement of the science fiction sub genre. Lunar Heat is a story about a man Cade who is desperate to do anything to save his people. Shara Weston will do anything to save Earth, even if that means she will have to betray the man that she loves. Both Cade and Shara have a connection from their first meeting, and despite the rocky path that lies before them only the love they have may save their lives and both of their worlds.

I found Lunar Heat to be a very enjoyable read that sent chills down my spine. Lunar Heat offers a unique romantic story set in a futuristic/science fiction setting. The world that this author creates is magnificent, and I loved the way the story sets off from the beginning, with Cade crash landing on the moon that Shara lives on, and then he ends up saving her life from his enemy and brother. Cade is determined to save his people. Many of his people are literal slaves, because they weren’t born first, and so they are dominated by first Born’s. Cade was the one chosen, to free his kind. His people thrive on salt, they need it to survive. Earth has plenty of salt, especially in the water elements. But he needs the help of Shara to send it to his planet. Shara desires to help Cade, and he is the most gorgeous man she has ever met. But then her closest friend tells her she has visions of their planet being destroyed by the actions of Cade. This story involves a intense plot with plenty of danger and steamy desire.

Overall I fell in love with Cade and Shara. They were such a delightful couple. I couldn’t help but admire them both for their actions. I had a hard time deciding which character I liked more. Cade is more honest and upfront with Shara, than Shara is. However you sympathize with Shara’s dilemma, and you wonder how they will find their HEA and save both of their worlds. The story line is full of complications and drama and a world of science fiction, with a mix of paranormal drawn in as well. A poignant yet intense romance that is a thrill of a ride!!! Be prepared to fly off your seats in this one!!

Heart Mate
Celta Heartmates (1)
Robin D. Owens
Berkley
Paperback
Published Aug 2006
Science Fiction Romance
ISBN 0425212408

Synopsis
The very first novel in the Celta futuristic romance series–a RITA Award( winner for Best Paranormal Romance–is now reissued. Set on a planet where psychic abilities are the norm, “HeartMate” is the story of how two people find that love is the most unexpected pleasure of all.

Summary:
Rand T’Ash lost everything as a young boy, his home, his family, and had to learn to fend for himself most of his life until recently now that he is a nobleman and highly sought after artisan, he is now looking for his heartmate, and when he finds out who she is, he sets out to seduce her, only she doesn’t seem to want to be seduced and keeps rejecting Him. Rand at first where Danith is coming from, because he once came from the kind of life that she is living currently, and he only desires to hold onto her, protect her and love her….he just has to convince her that sharing a life with him would bring her pure happiness, because the love they would share would be timeless.

The Hero (Rand T’Ash)
At the young age of six, Rand lost his family and ended up in the downwinds, in back alleys and criminals of all kinds, and has had to fight to live, now he is fighting to hold on to his heart mate who keeps turning away from his advances, but her kisses are so sweet and he aches to hold onto her….he doesn’t know if he loves her but he does know there is a great future for them both if she will just learn to trust in him

The Heroine (Danith Mallow)
Danith, is a young woman that knows she will never have a heart mate, that she will have to settle for what she can get, and when she is about to be engaged to a young man who cares for her, she meets the intimidating Rand, who looks more like an outlaw than a noble, and doesn’t understand why he would be pursuing her so unless he wants her for his mistress….but she knows she deserves better than that. When she finds out the real purpose in his advances, her life starts changing so dramatically right before her eyes that she doesn’t know which way is right, even though her heart cries out for T’Ash.

My Thoughts
Heart Mate is the first installment in this series, and it was a very likable read, the beginning was a bit slower to get into, but once I did I had a fantastic time with these two characters. Rand is so Alpha Male type, very possessive and stubborn to the extreme, and more resilient than most, although he does have a soft side. Danith, is somewhat spitfire but does have a more gentle nature about her. Danith’s situation is unique, because she thinks of herself as beneath Rand, however she is anything but, and the heat in this book was very sizzling at times, I just love this world that Robin D. Owens has created, its so fun to get into the scene and just enjoy the ride. It wasn’t the type of book that would keep you from setting it down, but it was more relax before the fire type of read, and a very enjoyable and exciting at times novel, that was so fun and sexy, and I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series.

Unfortunately, her body can’t help but submit to the passion he stirs in her. But when a scandal threatens Saille’s position as head of the family, will DuFleur stand by his side?

Summary:
Dufleur is determined to win her father’s good name back, Once she lost her father it seemed as if she lost a part of herself but now experimenting with time, which is her flair, she doesn’t plan on Saille T’Willow to ruin everything or to give in to being his heart mate. However now that he is head of his family now, he plans on making changes, positive ones, and he hopes to reverse as much damage as he can including the damage against his heartmate, with the hope that she may love him and accept him and trust in him…

The Hero (Saille T’Willow)
Most of his life, Saille was sent away by the head of the family, however since she is practically on life support now, he has assumed his place as head of the family, and he finds out that his heartmate has been hidden from him all of this time, as with other members of his family, and now will win her over, no matter what it takes.

But when finds out that a willow is her heartmate, she doesn’t ever plan on accepting his gift, especially after what his family did to hers. However she can’t deny the passion or the connection she feels coursing through her body.

My Thoughts
Heart Dance was a fantastic read, and its been a while since I have read a science fiction fantasy romance, but when I discovered this series, I just knew I had to try it out. Heart Dance is the sixth installment and even though its in the middle of the series I didn’t feel lost or anything, Owens portrayed this world that she created very well, with vivid description that it almost felt like I was there. The only problem I had with Heart Dance would be that the flow seemed choppy at times, so I think if it had just run a bit more smoothly, that it would have been have a fantastic read. Overall it was still a wonderful read with enough conflict, romance, magic and a powerful story that will just leave you wanting for more.

Synopsis
A WILDER BLUE YONDER

Ilana Hamilton isn’t an adventurer like her pilot mother or a diplomat like her do-right brother; she’s a brash, fun-loving filmmaker who’d rather work behind the camera than be a “Star Princess” in front of it. Hotshot pilot or no, Che is too stuffy, too arrogant, and too old-fashioned. But when he sweeps her off her feet Ilana sees stars, and the higher he takes her the more she loves to fly. Only her heart asks where she will land.

Summary:

When Prince Che comes to her home, she starts to realize that not all things royal are bad….and that he may just be one that will hold the key to her heart.

My Thoughts
The Star Princess is the fourth in the Star Series. I have just fallen in love with this author and this series that I have been able to read so far…and at this point one of my favorite sci fi/futuristic romantic series. I definitely loved the story and plot line…..two people who are as different as night and day but are more than perfect for each other. I loved how Susan Grant blended it perfectly the romance, with a bit of mystery and danger and to top it off with passion…just made for a tremendously entertaining read…one that I would never regret. There was a satisfaction upon finishing the story…yet wishing it was longer. Definitely a keeper here!!!

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Jasmine, on her fighter jet, crashes down and then she sees a man..a stranger one who is compelling and becomes forever in her memory. Since then, Jas has never been satisfied with her relationships, for she is always looking back to him whose memory has been burned in her mind forever. Rom, once a heir of the B’kah, is looking for adventure and the one woman who has haunted him day and night. Now he is planning on finding her, even if its in a remote system and in the ‘frontier’ no less.  Jasmine, aches for this stranger who haunts her and calls out to her, so when she see’s that he is on TV, she knows she must find him, never realizing that finding him would change her life forever and that he would awaken a love so powerful that she would stand by his side for all time…

The Hero (Romlijhlan B’kah)
Rom, even though he is royalty, and heir to the throne of B’kah, no longer feels like he is part of the family, because of his beliefs to destroy a man that has the power to deceive everyone all the while he murders innocents. Rom, now has made a life for himself, but knows in his heart he must find the one woman whom haunts him…but never expected to find her even though he has been searching for her…and now with Jasmine at his side, will fight for everything that he believes in…

The Heroine (Jasmine Boswell)
Jasmine, although she has two grown children, is divorced and unable to trust in any man and able to make any relationship work. Even though in her dreams she sees him and hears him call out to her, she doesn’t know if he is a figmant of her imagination or real….but when she sees him she knows she would do everything in her power to reach him…Jasmine knows that he is her destiny and can offer her more love and passion that she could have imagined.

My Thoughts
The Star King is the second book in the Star Series by Susan Grant. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and I am falling more and more for the futuristic/sci fi romance. I haven’t read many of them…but I have found quite a few treasures and The Star King is one of them. I just loved everything about this book… I loved the idea that Jasmine is older than most lead heroines are in romances….there was also a freshness about this story and there was the exciting and ever on the role kind of plot, that had be engaged throughout the story. The characters were so likeable, and there was such a sizzling heat to the side of the story….that had me on fire till the very end!!!! A Winner!!!

My Favorite Quote
He needed her with a desperation  born of his precarious position at the edge of death, wanted to make love to her while he possessed the strength and passion of life. Her pleasure would be his salvation.

My Thoughts
Ultimatum is the third installment in the Rystani series by Susan Kearney. This is the first book that I have read from this author. I was browsing the library looking for a new author, and then when I saw the cover and the blurb for this book, I knew I had to try it out. Boy am I thrilled to have read Ultimatum, it definitely satisfied every romantic craving I had for the day LOL It was full of action, romance, suspense, mystery, and love. From the beginning to the end, I was raptured and couldn’t put it down, the characters were enthralling and the plot had my head spinning I was turning the pages as fast as I could get them read. One of the most riveting reads I have had the pleasure of reading so far….I LOVED IT!!!! So if you love the futuristic romance, this one is for you!!!!

My Favorite Quote
“Logic isn’t as important as my love for you. I shouldn’t love you, but I do. I don’t seem to ahve a choice. ” He said the words with conviction. And then he gathered his woman close to his heart. “I love you, Alara. Even when I didn’t want to love you, I couldn’t help myself. I’ve loved you for a long time. And I always will”

In a world where no one has even heard of the Testosterone Titans, Brian is about to discover that scoring is a lot less fun than falling in love.

MY REVIEW

Ally O Neill, has recently gone through a divorce after trying to be a perfect wife for five years. Now with her great aunt Katy, she is a tourist and a famous author on a best selling series. Now Ally wants no man, no matter how irresistable he may be and that includes Brian Byrne. The Hero (Brian Byrne)

He has trained hard to be where he has, and has been able to help his kids (those on the streets) get a education and careers, so they can have a better life than he did. When Brian was little his mother promised that she would return and she never did, so ever since than he made a vow to honor each promise he made, no matter the circumstances. He is in a contract for five more years of sex games, but once he meets Ally his loyalty is divided and he must choose between honor and love

The Heroine (Ally O Neill)
Ally, did everything she could to make her marriage work, she was the perfect wife for five years, but then he left her for another woman, and knew her life was over. Now she has worked hard, and is in Scotland being a tourist, needed a vacation and to relax…but then she comes across Brian, who claims to be from the future, and a literal sex god, but she starts to see something deeper in this man.

My Thoughts
Night Games is written by Nina Bangs, and I had such a fun time reading this. It was such a fun and witty romance, that I never stopped laughing. Night Games is a bit different than some of the other books that I have read from her, definitely has a humorous ring to romance if there ever was one. Night Games is a very enthralling and sensual read, one that will heat up the room like matchsticks.  There was one problem that I had with this book, was that Ally was so gullible at times, she just accepted that Brian was from the future, so easily, that it didn’t seem real especially at the beginning of the story, however as the story progressed, it started to become more realistic, and the story became captivating and riveting, that I started to fall in love with it. So overall a humorous and enjoyable read!!!

My Favorite Quote
As she watched, the amusement changed to something else. Something hot, hungry. Dangerous.
“You tempt me greatly, woman”

My Thoughts
Keeper of the Heart is one of my favorite novels that Johanna Lindsey has written, as well as one of my favorite series apart from the Malory’s of course :). Keeper of the Heart is the second installment in the Ly San Ter Family Trilogy. This series is different than the rest of her series, because this series has more of a science fiction and futuristic twist to it. This is such an endearing love story, of two souls that looking for love and family, but not knowing what  is right in front of them. I found the plot to be engaging and full of surprises. I found overall Keeper Of The Heart to be as infectious as a chocolate truffle, Definitely a first rate love story.
