Synopsis
I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who’d get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.

When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I’ve learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it….

MacKayla Lane’s ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland’s shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.

In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh–a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V’lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.…

My Review

So I debated sharing my summary of this one, and decided not too, there isn’t too much that changes from the first book. It starts off from the last book, and I was hoping there would be a little more romance in it, but yet again I was disappointed on the romance level. Bloodfever didn’t stand out to me, but I think I liked it slightly more than the first one, since it didn’t take as long to get through it. I think I knew what I was expecting from the first book, so I was more prepared for this one. The writing style is very moning, however it will take a while to get used to her change of how she is writing fiction now. Maybe the romance will escalate in the later books (I am crossing my fingers). Despite my reservations for this story, I did try to go into with a positive attitude. I did enjoy the tension that puts a punch in this story. We still have two men involved with Mac. Jericho is still as mysterious as ever or even more so now. Vlane, we see a little bit, but not as much as I expected to see especially from the first book. There is a bit of progression in Mac’s character, but I still have a difficulty truly liking her. She is admirable at times, but I feel like she complains way too much. I did feel like there were only subtle differences in the plot, from the previous book. So I am hoping that Faefever will have more surprises in store for me than this one was for me. I know this review is pretty negative, especially compared to other reviews I have written, but I am still having a hard time adjusting to this series that is so opposite from her highlander series (which I 5 star recommend). I am enjoying this Fae world that Moning has created, and it has definitely been full of thrills all the way. Overall a action packed story, that if you are looking for a fiction based story with a dangerous world of Fae creatures, with darkness every corner, and no one to trust….than this book is for you!!

Synopsis
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….

As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

My Review

For a reading challenge on Goodreads, I was to read Darkfever. Now for a few years I have hesitated in reading this series, despite all the high reviews, because I had read her highlander series and I knew that this Fae series is quite opposite from it, and I was right. I obtained Darkfever through Audible, and this is the first time I had such a difficult time staying with a story, now I know that it isn’t just the format. I was expected a romance based novel, and Darkfever isn’t really like that in any form. After reading her highlander series, I was expecting a similar tone, but Darkfever totally blew me away in the difference it is from anything else I have read from her. I didn’t get fully into it until the last third of the story. I kept with it for one, that it was for a reading challenge and I try as much as possible to stick with a story, and that there is a reason this series is so popular. I would categorize this as just paranormal fiction, there isn’t much romance until the very end. After reading Darkfever, I understand where the author is going with it, and I understand better now why she has written it in the way she has, but it was so different from what I even imagined. I don’t know if I am the only one that struggled in any form with this one, but I did and even though I enjoyed it quite a bit by the very end, it took a little over five hours of listening before I starting feeling engaged with the story. I am rating this higher than I normally would because the writing is stellar just its form is far different than I expected and I think that’s why I struggled so much with it.

Darkfever is a story that introduces a world of dark and dangerous creatures that surround millions of people they just can’t see the danger to them. I definitely wouldn’t want this world to ever be real. I did love the suspense aspect to the story. There is quite a bit of a high intensity level for the story and I did like that. However I was expecting a high romance level, and it is very low. I am hoping that in the next books in the series, the romance level will be raised more. Despite by negative opinion on this story, there were some aspects I really liked. I loved seeing two totally opposite men involved in Mac’s life. The characters are very realistic and vividly written, so you can’t help but be drawn toward them. It did take a while to adjust to the narrator, but after a little while, I started to enjoy her inflections in the narrative.

Overall a tale that brings the reader into a world packed full of intense danger and fantasy, a story to get the blood thumping and one that will leave you aching in anticipation for the next installment.

My Thoughts
The Highlanders Touch is the third installment in the Highland series by Karen Marie Moning. I haven’t read the fever series yet, but her highland series I have just fallen for completely. I have enjoyed each of her books in the series so far, especially since I love anything romances to do with the Scottish Highlands. One of the things I didn’t expect when I first started reading this one, was how emotional this book would become for the reader, from beginning to end the plot was filled with excitement, adventure and lots of romance. The relationship between the two especially at first is a bit rocky, but there is a connection between the two and we see the first seeds of their love for each other. I loved both of these characters, they were full of depth and likeable. There was also a level of emotion that is portrayed throughout the book, that will touch any reader deeply. I absolutely adored reading this, and was such a magical read!!!

Synopsis:
A laird trapped between centuries…
Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he’d ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world. Drustan knew he had to return to his own century if he was to save his people from a terrible fate. And he needed the bewitching woman by his side….

A woman changed forever in his arms…
Gwen Cassidy had come to Scotland to shake up her humdrum life and, just maybe, meet a man. How could she have known that a tumble down a Highland ravine would send her plunging into an underground cavern — to land atop the most devastatingly seductive man she’d ever seen? Or that once he’d kissed her, he wouldn’t let her go?

Bound to Drustan by a passion stronger than time, Gwen is swept back to sixteenth-century Scotland, where a treacherous enemy plots against them … and where a warrior with the power to change history will defy time itself for the woman he loves….

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Gwen Cassidy comes to Scotland with her friend and her husband on a much needed vacation. Although at a reasonable price, she is surround by elderly folk that tend to gossip and no hope of finding the right man. Gwen is lonely and tired of being in that state. When she falls down a ravine, on a hike, she lands on top of a man, the most sensual man she has ever seen. They share a passionate embrace, and stirs up her inner desires that she has never felt before, but so different from any other man she has ever met. Now Dustran realizes that he is no longer in the 16th century Scotland, but has somehow traveled forward in time to the 21st century, with no memory of it, and starts feeling out of control and more lost than ever, until the love of a good woman changed him forever.

The Hero
Drustan MacKeltar doesn’t remember how he found himself aroused with a beautiful woman on top of him. And she is different than any other woman he has ever know, for she is a modern woman. She dresses differently, and talks in a strange manner he is unfamiliar with, but his body wants her in a way he can hardly think straight. Drustan is a druid, with unnatural abilities, reluctant to use them and show them to Gwen, after losing 3 fiancees due to who he was. From the 16th century, Laird of his clan, recently having losing his twin brother Daegus. Drustan is a strong leader, passionate nature, definitely the imbediment of a alpha male.

The Heroine
Gwen Cassidy losing both of her parents, being killed in a plane crash, is still a virgin.  So having recently quitting smoking, is looking for a man to be her as she names it “Cherry Picker”. Having followed in her mother’s footsteps to be a physicist. Gwen fears that wanting to have a “grand passion” is just a dream and fantasy and will never come true for her, or that maybe there is something wrong with her. Gwen is a woman that wants to believe in love but has yet to find it for herself. She is intelligent and loves the world around her, she dreams of having children, and even more of a love of a man and a intense passion.

My Thoughts
Kiss of the Highlander is the fourth in the Highlander series written by Karen Marie Moning. And as far as this series goes, this was definitely one hell of a ride, and at the top of my personal favorites list. This love story was filled with so many surprises that I could hardly keep up with the story( but in a really great way…of course) The plot was very intense and dramatic, filled with passion and adventure….from beginning to end a remarkable love story, that truly had me from the first page. The characters were riveting and real for the reader, and a roller coaster of emotional results,  a perfect mix of a wonderfully written romance! Definitely one of my favorites to read, and I couldn’t put this down…..

Crisscrossing the continents and the centuries, here is a novel as gripping as it is sensual–an electrifying adventure that will leave you breathless….

From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A sixteenth-century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the thirteen Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting thirteen evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man….

My Review:
Daegus MacKelter having to suffer with thirteen evil druids that possess him, and him trying to hold onto his humanity. Daegus lives in the life of intense sexual desires and is the only way for him to find relief. Having lived for centuries, he finds the unexpected in Chloe Zanders, a woman unlike any other, a innocent in all the sense of the word. Daegus having only affiliated himself with the most experienced and maturity of women in the matters of sexual matters, is both intrigued and enthralled by Chloe and the unexpected hold that she has on him. Chloe an expert on antiquities, delivers something highly valuable within her sphere, however she despises the fact that she has to be the one to deliver it. Well certain events occur, where Daegus takes Chloe captive within his home, trying to find a way to get the thirteen druids out of him. However when all of this is taking place, he starts to fall in love with Chloe, something he never expected to feel for anyone, but he does for her. But a certain journey will enfold them and test their love through time and space.

I truly loved reading Daegus and Chloe’s story, I have really loved reading this series, and having seen them in other books I just wanted to read their story. I have to say I was fully satisfied when the book ended, but still more and more of the story since I loved it so much. It had a sense of thrilling adventure and passion throughout the book, and it definitely kept me at the edge. The main characters were strong and intense and just like Moning always does them, and reaches out to the reader. Chloe is a pure innocent, especially in the sex department, but Daegus is more than happy to teach her. After having thirteen evil spirits within him, the only way to help him feel more human, is to have intense sexual pleasure, but things change upon meeting Chloe. Chloe at first finds Daegus enticing yet dangerous. There is a pull between them that Chloe feels intensely, and there is a inner part of her where she knows that she doesn’t want to resist him. Chemistry fires up between Daegus and Chloe from the beginning, as well the seed of true love the reader that we see grows and become strong throughout the story. If you love Paranormal romances then this one is for you, Karen Marie Moning has done it again!

He would sell his warrior soul to possess her. . . .

AN ALLURING LAIRD

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart–until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm’s length–but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A PRISONER IN TIME

She had a perfect “no” on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne’s reservations were no match for Hawk’s determination to keep her by his side. . . .

My Review:
James Douglas known as the Hawk, has never had a woman say “no” to his sexual advances. So the “Fae” plan to play with the Hawk and bring to him a woman that can and will say “no” to him and one with a fiery temper who will fight him on all angles. Adrienne De Simone lives in Seattle and having some pretty bad experiences with men in relationships, she avoids men that are handsome and charming like the plagues of Egypt. Adrienne has become a bit bitter, with due cause. So when she is taken back through time to Scotland in the 1500’s. Where through a chain of events she finds herself married to the “Hawk”. At first Adrienne resists his charm however as time continues and despite her ever searching for a way back to her own time, her heart hardened shell softens toward him as the passion between them rises. The desire that she feels for Hawk unsettles her in a way she has never before experienced and Adrienne yearns for his tender touch. James is a formidable warrior in both the battlefield and the bedroom however upon meeting his new bride he comes across a woman with a will to mathc his own. The battle is on…in the matters o flove…who will be the conquerer?

I fully enjoyed this time travel romance, that takes you back to the medieval Scotland, and written by one of my favorite romance authors. The more that I read from Karen Marie Moning, the more I get excited about reading her other books, since the ones that I have read so far have been outstanding, as this one was as well. Adrienne, has been hurt, but when she is thrown back in time, she has to face a future and a life with a man that she both fears and desires. The Hawk is definitely an Alpha rake, a seducer of women, no matter their reservations. However when she becomes married to him, he knows that she is unlike any other woman he has met and he knows that there is something peculiar about it, and he wants to find out what that is. Its a enchanting love story that brings two souls together with a little twist that will keep you on the edge.

Powerful. Sensual. Seductive. He is all that is shamelessly erotic in a man. In her sexiest Highlander novel yet, New York Times bestselling author Karen Moning stirs up a sizzling brew of ancient mystery and modern passion as she brings together a devilishly handsome Celtic warrior trapped in time . . . and the woman who’s about to pay the ultimate price for freeing him. Age-old secrets haunt them. Deadly danger and irresistible desire shadow their every move. It’s a relationship for the ages. And all that separates them is a mere thirteen hundred years. . . .

Jessi St. James has got to get a life. Too many hours studying ancient artifacts has given the hardworking archaeology student a bad case of sex on the brain. So she figures she must be dreaming when she spies a gorgeous half-naked man staring out at her from inside the silvery glass of an ancient mirror. But when a split-second decision saves her from a terrifying attempt on her life, Jessi suddenly finds herself confronting six and a half feet of smoldering, insatiable alpha male.

Heir to the arcane magic of his Druid ancestors, eleven centuries ago Cian MacKeltar was trapped inside the Dark Glass, one of four coveted Unseelie Hallows, objects of unspeakable power. When the Dark Glass is stolen, an ancient enemy will stop at nothing to reclaim it, destroying everything in his path–including the one woman who may just hold the key to breaking the ninth-century Highlander’s dark spell. For Jessi, the muscle-bound sex god in the mirror is not only tantalizingly real, he’s offering his protection–from exactly what, Jessi doesn’t know. And all he wants in exchange is the exquisite pleasure of sharing her bed.

Yet even as Cian’s insatiable hunger begins to work its dark magic on Jessi, his ancient enemy is about to obtain the final and most dangerous of the Unseelie Hallows–and the ninth-century Highlander must stop him from getting it. Nothing less than the very fabric of the universe and two passionately entwined lives are at stake–as Cian and Jessi fight to claim the kind of love that comes along but once in an ice age. . . .

My Review:
As with every one of Karen Marie Moning’s books, I just fall in love with the plot, characters, and the sensual magic of each Paranormal book that she has written. Thus was true for Spell Of The Highlander. Although not my absolute favorite of hers, still a enjoyable read.

Jessi St James, is a young woman that is very close to getting her PH.D in Archealogy, and between her classes, work and trying to eat and sleep between she has no time for relationships. Jessi is very tired and is eager to get her degree and start doing what she loves, and maybe find love in the digs. However, her plans do change when her professor that she grades for, calls her up and tells her to make sure a important delivery arrives and to sign for it. Jessi, a bit confused by this request, but goes ahead and signs for the package. Then when it is unwrapped by the insistence of the “delivery boys” she finds a old and beautiful mirror. Which is unlike any other mirror that she has come across. The glass seems to have a dark mist within it, and when she spies a half naked gorgeous man, she passes it off as not enough sleep despite the chills she feels in the room. When she returns once more,  a man surprises her and threatens her life. Just when she feels that there is no way out of this horrid crazy situation; she hears a voice that commands her to summon him out of the mirror. Thus the confusion begins within Jessi mind, she doesn’t know who to believe. Not knowing if it was the right choice, she summons the unknown man out of the mirror, hoping that he will be someone that isn’t out to kill her. So he defends her and one sensual interlude causes Jessi to feel things that she has never felt, only dreamed of. Then he runs out and disappears on her. Thinking he was just a dream, she assumes everything that happened was her imagination right? Wrong, before Jessi knows it she is on the run for her life, her companion a strange mysterious, magical man whom is centuries old and resides continually in a mirror until she summons him. Thus begins a adventure for a lifetime for Jess, and a love and blinding desire as old as time, and will creep up on them despite all the danger and mystery surrounding them.

As far as I know, this was one of the most sensual reads that I have read in a while. It also was filled with a intensity that will place you at the edge of your seat, and will get the heart thumping, and will bring a tear to your heart. I found this to be a very emotional read, especially toward the end. I won’t spoil it too much, so I won’t tell you why, but it definitely will pull at your heart strings as it did mine. I am definitely eager to read more of this series, since its one my favorite Scot Series!!!

Synopsis:
BEWARE: lethally seductive alpha male of immense strength and dark eroticism, do not look at him. Do not touch him. Do not be tempted. Do not be seduced.

With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. Now Adam’s only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.

Enter law student Gabrielle O’Callaghan. For Gabrielle, cursed with the ability to see both worlds, Mortal and Faery, it is the beginning of a long, dangerous seduction. But as Adam’s quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both Mortal and Faery realms . . . and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love . . .

My Review:
Adam Black is a immortal Faery being, who has lived for centuries. However then he is cursed and stripped of his powers and turned into a mortal, and invisible to all. He is desperate to find a way to reverse the curse, for he despises being invisible and having no abilities than a mere mortal. Gabrielle O’Callaghan has the ability to see things that a normal mortal could never hope to see; for she has the ability to see Faeries in their natural form as they roam the earth. Her grandmother had the same abilities and trained her to never let them know of it, since they are the last of their kind. She would be in great danger if even one Faery were to find out of her abilities. One night coming home from work, she views one laying on a bench and she is utterly captivated by this highly sensual being who mesmerizes and stirs up her senses. Then Adam notices that a young woman is looking at him, and he shockingly realizes that this is the one person that can save him, for she is the only one that can see him. At first Gabrielle is terrified of this being, whom she knows can destroy her in a heart beat, for she has read all about their special gifts and powers. In the book about Faery’s her grandmother gave her, are tales of Faeries and their exploits and she is scared to death of them; however there is something different about Adam Black. Adam Black sticks to her side like glue and crumbling down her defenses by bringing her breakfast in bed, and doing hours and hours of work for her, and saving her life. For after she does a deed for Adam trying to talk to one of his people for help, they are now being hunted and they have to shift from place to place. Adam is more convinced than ever than his old rival is breaking their laws and hunting him and Gabrielle whom he knows he needs to protect at all costs. He can’t see any of his people, only she has the ability. Adam finds himself relying on her abilities more and more. The more Gabrielle and Adam get to know one another, the closer they become and stronger the desire between them builds. Gabrielle has never known such passion as she has felt with Adam; for he is a mesmerizing being who captivates her and brings her to a sensual plane the likes of which she has never known. However there is a danger that is hunting them, and they must use every resource they can to keep from being destroyed!

I was captivated all the while reading this book, I love reading Karen Marie Moning, this is only the second book that I have read from her, and I think I am beginning to fall in love with her stories; especially this one. It left me eager to read the rest of her books, hoping they are just as genuinely intense as this one seemed to be. It was filled with desire, wit, suspenseful action that leaves the reader on the edge of their seats, and a timeless magic that leaves you breathless for more. Gabrielle has such inner strength, all she wants is to get married and have a family. She has never been able to find a stable man that could accept her and her gifts. Then walks in Adam Black the most mesmerizing and sensual man she has ever met and one that she is surprised has a physical reaction to her. Despite the danger the surrounds them, she finds herself falling head over heels in love with him, despite the fact that he has lost his soul and tends to be tormented at times. Any reader will of course fall in love with Adam Black, pure Alpha male and everything that goes with it. I definitely found this character to be irresistible, and wished I had someone like him to come home to LOL. However a woman can dream can’t she? But on a more serious note, I definely found this a emotionally intriguing read, that I purely thrived on and loved every moment of reading it.
