Synopsis(Goodreads)

Sinaloa, Mexico . . . haunting deserts, hot nights, and vampires, who’ve been there for hundreds of years, watching from the shadows, playing their games, manipulating humans, and surviving at any cost.

Vincent Kuxim, powerful and charismatic, was made vampire by an ambitious leader looking for soldiers to pave his way to the rule of all Mexico. But more than a century later, Vincent’s Sire is looking over his shoulder as Vincent closes in for the kill, ready to claim the title Lord of Mexico for himself.

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter, smart, beautiful, and determined to chart her own future. So when the most powerful vampire lord in all of North America enlists her help in tracking down a very old and elusive bloodsucker, Lana sees nothing but opportunity. There’s only one catch. The client wants her to take Vincent—a vampire she neither knows nor trusts—along on her hunt. Then again, maybe it’s herself she doesn’t trust, because Vincent Kuxim is sex walking in a pair of tight black jeans.

Thrown together by circumstance, Vincent and Lana soon find themselves battling an evil they didn’t know existed in a fight that makes Vincent all the more determined to destroy his Sire, seize Mexico for himself . . . and keep Lana by his side forever.

My Review

I received a ARC copy in exchange for a honest review, thanks to Netgalley and ImaJinn Books.

Vincent is the upcoming release to the Vampires In America series. Having read the whole series now I will say that I am super impressed with this author. Every time I read her, I just have the best time with her stories. This series is quite intense and fun and I love seeing these couples coming together. Vincent is the eighth installment in the series, and this story is where we leave the Lords in America and we see a new one about to come into play with Vincent. This series, for those who have yet to read D.B. Reynolds, is a story that is about Vampire Lords, who control territories across the globe, and the women they fall in love with.

In Vincent, we have a lieutenant that has worked his way up the ranks, in the Mexico territory. His power and influence is growing, and soon he will be able to take over the territory. When Raphael sends him a bounty hunter, to find a vampire, that is known among legends and myths, but could reveal truths that are necessary for Vincent success. The bounty hunter is: Lana Arnold. Lana has come to Mexico, to investigate and has been sent by Raphael and Cyn. She then meets Vincent, who is so out of her realm. Lana grew up as a tom boy, and works with her father, as a bounty hunter. She is strong and independent, but Vincent throws her off her game and she needs all her wits to keep up with him. He is power personified, but as they search together, they will run into dangers and intrigue that they don’t expect, and truths will be revealed that will be a key to Vincent’s past…

I really enjoyed this one, it had everything that I expected and after the previous book really set up this story, I was super excited to begin reading it. Most of the books in the series, are centered around territories in the states, but this one is set in the deserts of Mexico. I really enjoyed the setting and the chemistry between Vincent and Lana is sunburn worthy. They definitely know how to create some fires, but with dangers mixed in the plot, and some exciting adventures and mysteries, the story really is packed with some thrilling elements that is typical with Reynolds writing. What I enjoyed about this one, is that the connection between Vincent and Lana is slowly built up, and I had such a fun time with these two…they were a hoot!! They definitely met every expectation I had and more. The characters in this story has well developed and complimented each other pretty well. I loved seeing these two come together, working together, and build a relationship amidst the danger involved to them both.

Overall a powerful vampire romance that is guaranteed to win your heart. A story with a delightful mixture of sensuality, paranormal dangers, and a mystery to keep you guessing….STUNNING!!

Synopsis
A Cyn & Raphael Novella

ALLEGIANCE . . . the ties that bind. Friendship, duty, blood.
TREACHERY . . . when friendship is abused, duty turns to burden, and blood is not enough.
UNFORGIVEN . . . because there are some things that can never be forgotten.

Allegiance . . . Treachery . . . Unforgiven.

War is imminent, and a spy has infiltrated Raphael’s estate. But his target is not Raphael; it’s his sister, Alexandra, whose earlier duplicity nearly cost Cyn her life. Raphael and Cyn are determined to play the spy’s game, traveling to Mexico to discover who their enemy is and just how far he’ll go to win. But once Raphael finds his sister, can he take the chance that she won’t betray him again?

My Review
I received a ARC copy in exchange for a honest review.

In Unforgiven, another of Raphael and Cyn’s story, this one takes place after Aden and is a prequel to her upcoming book Vincent (which comes out in November). 🙂 Unforgiven is about a certain spy that has infiltrated Raphael’s estate, and the intruder’s focus is on Raphael’s sister, Alexandra. We see the affect that this has on Raphael and Cyn and their relationship. Its always interesting to read these novella’s, which are super short-only 80 pages or so, so its a quick and light read. But we also see the day to day routines of this couple, and how they deal with the constant attacks that come their way. This story also sets the stage for the upcoming book Vincent, which I am very much looking forward to. As you read Unforgiven though, we see a bit more of Raphael’s sister, whom I just can’t ever like. We definitely see her truest nature in real form in this story and my heart just goes out to Raphael in this book. Overall a lovely short installment in this series, one that gives more insight into the lives of Raphael and Cyn, and events that lead up to the next book. EXCELLENT!!

Synopsis
Power, it comes down to this… those who have it, those who want it.
Revenge, the need for it is a fire in the soul, a goad for the unwise.
Hunted, the fate of the foolish when they think to become the hunter.

The Lord of the Midwest is dead, and the powerful vampires of North America are gathering to choose his successor. The Vampire Council will be there to oversee the competition and to keep the violence to a bloody minimum, including Raphael, who will do whatever it takes to ensure the victor is a vampire he can trust. But someone is determined to stop Raphael and his mate, Cyn, from ever reaching Chicago, a hunter who may soon become… the hunted.

My Review

Hunted is a novella, and its centered on Raphael and Cyn. Now they are probably one of my favorite couples, and every time I see them, I just want to re read their first book. This is one of my favorite vampire romance series, and I recently discovered Reynolds and adore her books.  She has such talent in creating this complex world of dangerous vampires and their territories, with plenty of drama, suspense and intrigue. I don’t want to reveal too much, but in this one we see a bit of Aden before his book. In this story, the vampire lord of the Midwest has been killed, and they are meeting to decide the new lord. But then danger lurks, and they are being hunted, but they have no idea who it is, and have no clue who is really being targeted. We definitely see more of Cyn and Raphael, and even Lucas and Kathryn. It was such fun seeing these two couples again and I enjoyed the commadrie and I enjoyed Cyn’s attitude and Raphael’s alpha personality that just had me screaming for more. It was a very short little story, and ended far too quickly,  but a nice addition to the series. Definitely excited to reading more from this author.

Book SIX of the award-winning Vampires in America.

THE BADLANDS of SOUTH DAKOTA . . . haunting landscapes, legendary outlaws, and . . . vampires?

LUCAS DONLON, Vampire Lord, is one of the most powerful vampires in North America and beyond. Charming and irreverent to his friends and lovers, he enjoys everything about his life as a vampire. But when a neighboring lord makes the mistake of declaring war, he quickly discovers that Lucas is every bit as lethal as he is charming.

KATHRYN HUNTER doesn’t care about powerful vampires or their wars. Her baby brother is missing and she will do anything to find him, even if it means going against both her FBI bosses and the local vampire lord. But Lucas Donlon has other plans for the lovely FBI agent who’s landed on his doorstep.

Waging war against their enemies and each other, Lucas and Kathryn will risk everything to keep the most deadly vampire war in hundreds of years from engulfing every vampire, and human, in North America

My Review

Kathryn Hunter, is a FBI agent, and with her the recent disappearance of her brother, she is at a loss in finding him, but there is one man that may be able to help her locate him, Lucas Donlan a Vampire Lord. Lucas, is a vampire Lord, and a very jovial one at that. But he has his own problems to deal with. Lucas is getting ready to take down the vampire Lord, whose territory is right next to his. Especially after he tries to kill his closest friend, Raphael. Now there is a FBI Agent, asking questions, but a searing heat explodes between them. At first Lucas doesn’t want to accept what is happening between himself and Kathryn. However with the danger rising rapidly, Kathryn is determined to keep herself in the midst of danger, and it will be up to Lucas to save her life, and to show her the true power of the vampire world, and even though she keeps resisting her feelings for him, that no vampire lets his mate go without a fight.

Lucas is the sixth book in the Vampires of America series, and I am almost done with reading the whole series, except for one novella. It makes me sad in a way, reading this series so far has been such a blast of whirlwind fun, danger and desire, and I have loved every single moment. This is definitely a favorite author of mine. I read a novella Betrayed, where we first see Lucas and I liked from the start. He is energetic, a ladies man, and has a more relaxed and humorous personality than the other vampire lords that we have met so far. Although in this story  we see a whole lot more to him and he definitely is powerful and lets no one stand in his way. Kathryn was a solid character and I did enjoy quite a bit, although she was always never giving into emotion, and it got quite frustrating many a times. I understand that with being a FBI agent, she has to have a tough exterior, but she was constantly refusing to give in even in private, and there was something about her that rankled against me. However I did like her toughness, and ingenuity and her determination to not let Lucas stand in her way of finding her brother.

I felt like the story was very exciting and thrilling, and was packed full with plenty of drama and action to keep your mind occupied all the way through. There was a balanced consistency that I have enjoyed from this author. There is quite a bit of tension between Lucas and Kathryn that was quite a show to see, and boy did they give a entertaining show!! I enjoyed seeing these two together, and I loved how they are both fighters and doesn’t give in easily. You see how their relationship deepens as the story goes along, and you can’t help but admire these two.

A riveting romance to set you on edge and fill you with excitement, thrills and passion!! A REWARDING STORY TO CHARM YOU!!

Synopsis
Washington, D.C. … capital of an empire. Powerful. Exhilarating. Corrupt. And in the shadows … vampires far older than the nation itself.

A power unto himself, Duncan has served at Raphael’s side for a hundred and fifty years. But long laid plans have finally borne fruit, and the time has come for Duncan to leave Raphael and tackle the greatest challenge of his life. He will face treacherous vampires and murderous humans. He will rock the halls of human power if necessary. But Washington, D.C. will be his.

Emma Duquet cares nothing for vampire politics. She just wants to find her missing roommate and best friend, Lacey. But Lacey’s been playing with vampires of a particularly dangerous kind, and Emma will have to deal with the new vampire in town if she’s going to find her friend.

Battling powerful enemies who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets, Duncan and Emma will dig beneath the corruption and depravity that is Washington, D.C. and uncover the most heinous conspiracy of all…

My Review

Duncan has been at Raphael’s side for over a hundred years, ever since he was first turned. Now it is time for Duncan to become a vampire lord, and his territory will be Washington D.C. where secrets and betrayal are abundant. He will do everything to make it is, no matter who gets in his way. Emma Duquet, is searching for her best friend and roommate who disappeared, and she knows that a vampire is responsible. Emma is tough as nails, but when she encounters Duncan, all her toughness goes out the window. Duncan can’t help but feel drawn to Emma, whose vulnerability and beauty speak to his soul. He has never known such tenderness toward anyone, except his closest friends. Now that he has just taken over his new territory he must take care, but he can’t help but resist Emma and her plea for help. As they search for those that have been committing atrocious acts, a fierce desire flares between Duncan and Emma, a desire that threatens to consume them or build a stronger love than either of them imagined.

Duncan is the fifth installment in the series. D.B. Reynolds, with the help of Belle Books, has been re publishing this series, with such beautiful covers. I think Duncan is my favorite, and I love the blue background with the blond hair with this beautiful specimen, I could definitely look at him all day. When I was able to get a copy of this ARC through Netgalley and Bellebooks, I was excited and downloaded it right away and could hardly wait to read it. I have been waiting for Duncan’s story ever since I first saw his character in the first book Raphael. We do see a little of Raphael and Cyn but not nearly as much as the previous books, but I was okay with that. It was nice to have this story to have more focus on Duncan and Emma.  We actually see their first interaction pretty close to the beginning of the story. We see instant fire and sparks between these two and oh boy you could build a fire with that heat. Duncan and Emma are magical together. I felt like they were such a good fitted pair, and evenly matched. Duncan may be a powerful vampire lord, but he has battled like nothing when it comes to Emma. You see his love for Emma that rings like crystal glass. The reader almost becomes envious. Emma is darling, and I love her strength and resilience, and her way of not giving in to Duncan’s orders, but handling him like a mate and not one of his minions. She definitely knows how to handle him and it was exciting seeing these two get over the hills and rocks to true love. There is quite a bit of a conflict involved, where you see secrets revealed and a betrayal you never expect or see coming.

Overall a stunning vampire romance that takes your breath away with every chapter. A tale of a love that is hard fought and worth every moment. Characters that instill a charming quality to entice the reader. And a powerfully written story to make the reader weak in the knees and cheering for this couple in finding their HEA! MAJESTICALLY DONE!!!

Synopsis
The Pacific Northwest . . . home to lush forests and constant rain, to lumberjacks and computer geeks, especially those of the vampire kind.

Sophia, beautiful and deadly, has spent the last hundred years dancing her way through the balmy nights and hot-blooded men of South America. But when her Sire sends an urgent summons, Sophia rushes home to Vancouver only to find he has disappeared, leaving nothing behind but three dead vampires and a letter with Sophia’s name on it.

Colin Murphy, a former Navy SEAL, came to the Northwest seeking a quiet place to heal the scars earned in more than a decade at war. But when someone starts killing local vampires and torturing their mates, Colin takes on the mantle of a warrior once again as he sets out to find the killers and do whatever it takes to stop them, even if that means hunting with vampires.

Following her Sire’s trail of death to a small town in northern Washington, Sophia unexpectedly discovers the heat of a South American night in Colin’s arms. But all too soon Sophia and Colin find themselves in a race to uncover the killers before the next dead vampire is Sophia herself.

My Review

Sophia has been a vampire for three hundred years, and when her sire Lucien, disappears, with only a letter with instructions directed toward her, she follows his trail up to Washington State in the United States. For many years she has been wandering around South America, where she had fallen in love with Colin Murphy, but had to give him up. Now, entering Raphael’s domain, with his vampires being killed, the hunt is on. Colin is a ex navy SEAL, and now does maintenance security for the area. When a friend of his, a vampire, his mate having been tortured, Colin is dragged into a world of danger and vampires and the reappearance of a woman he thought was dead all of these years, and is shocked to learn that she is a powerful vampire. But the danger is about to escalate when the killers, are after vampire blood, Sophia is in more danger than she realizes.

Sophia is the fourth installment in this amazing series that I am practically addicted to. I was able to get a ARC of this title, through Netgalley and ImaJinn Books. Sophia is a pretty intense filled story that will put you on the edge all the way through. The focus of it, is the vampires being killed, and Raphael being fully involved in the investigation. Now even though the blurb really states that the story is based solely on Sophia and Colin, that is not true. We see quite a bit of Rapahel and Cyn, and they both play major roles in this story. Especially in the beginning, there isn’t much focus on the relationship between Sophia and Colin, that doesn’t happen until the latter half of the story. I am not complaining, in the least, I just adore Raphael and Cyn. We definitely see some stumbling blocks in their relationship, and their fights of “dominance” were very amusing. I enjoyed seeing the fireworks between these two once again; it just never ends with these two. I LOVED IT!! Now I want to focus more on Sophia and Colin. Their relationship doesn’t start out with rainbows, that’s for sure. Sophia is shocked to see Colin again, and hides her true feelings from him. Colin feels hurt and betrayed that she never came clean with him from the very beginning. While this couple are trying to work out the major kinks out of their bond, danger escalates quite rapidly, and in some scenes, really shocked me and it got to the point where it was impossible to put this one down.

I really enjoyed the various elements that combined, made Sophia a explosive read that stuns you!! With plenty of action filled scenes, a mystery to solve, sexy vampires, enticing characters, and a story that wins you over!! SENSATIONAL!! (Now I can hardly wait to read Duncan, I have been waiting since the first book to read his story!!)

First Line
Raphael was drowning, trapped in a whirlpool of pain and loss…so much loss, sucking him down, icy shards swirling, slicing like razors into his soul.

Synopsis
Buffalo, New York—Thundering waterfalls, great sports teams . . . and a treacherous Vampire Lord who is slowly losing his mind. New York City vampire Rajmund Gregor is the undisputed master of The Big Apple. He bows to no one but his Sire, the Vampire Lord Krystof, who has ruled the Northeast for hundreds of years. But when Krystof summons Rajmund to his headquarters in Buffalo, Raj finds his master slowly descending into madness and his territory crumbling around him. Raj is the only one of Krystof’s children strong enough to seize power, but he’ll have to save his master before he can destroy him. Several women have gone missing and the local police are convinced a vampire is behind it. Is Krystof so lost to reality that he’s capturing and murdering human women? Is a rogue vampire moving into Krystof’s territory for the kill? Or is it something far more insidious, something that could threaten the existence of vampires everywhere? Sarah Stratton is living a lie. Her past holds a secret she shares with no one—not even her good friend Cynthia Leighton, the West Coast vampire lord’s mate. It’s a secret that could destroy her carefully constructed life as a professor at a Buffalo university. It’s also a secret that could save the lives of the missing women. To save them, however, she must enter Buffalo’s vampire community and put herself into the care of Rajmund Gregor. But can she trust Raj, the dangerously seductive vampire who wants to lay claim to far more than her secrets?

My Review

Sarah Stratton, has started a new life for herself, in Buffalo, with a successful job and apt and building friendships. Lately she has been having nightmares of young women being kidnapped, and feeling terror. When her friend Cynthia, meets up with her in New York, wanting to gain the truth from her, Sarah is reluctant to share the truth with even her closest friend. But while at a club with her friend and her vampire husband, Raphael, she meets Rajmund Gregor, a vampire never to be trifled with. Rajmund is the most powerful of Krystoff’s children. And as Krystoff grows weaker and making foolish decisions, Rajmund is getting reading to take over. When he is ordered by his lord, to come to Buffalo and investigate into the disappearance of the missing girls, he knows he has no choice, but is curious into finding out who is responsible. Then he meets Sarah again, who is involved somehow. Deep down Rajmund knows what and who Sarah is to him, a weakness, a little woman that could change his whole world, in a way he isn’t ready for. Soon Sarah and Rajmund will be thrown into a plot full of danger and mystery, and a passion that is ready to break free and overcome them both…

Rajmund is the third in the Vampires In America Series. I was able to get a ARC of this title through Netgalley and ImaJinn books. I have been addicted to this series ever since I read “Aden”. This world that D.B. Reynolds has created is probably one of my favorites, especially when it comes to vampires. There is such a realism to it, and in some ways its how one would imagine a life where vampires and human coexisted together, in somewhat harmony.  In Rajmund we travel to the east coast, which is where Rajmund resides. Rajmund may not be a vampire lord yet, but he is close to becoming one. We see more into Sarah and her past, and her secret. She has a talent or a curse, which may be the key to saving some innocent girls lives. Rajmund is a powerful vampire, with power about to break free. Their relationship begins in New York, where Rajmund begins his slow seduction of Sarah. Sarah doesn’t see herself as attractive or sexy, at least not to attract Raj’s attention, but somehow she has. Then when she returns home, they find each other again, and the sexual tension goes into overdrive. Their relationship is built more on desire than trust in the beginning. But as the danger towards Rajmund and Sarah threatens to consume them, so does their passion for each other. We see that neither are ready for what is about to come, and I felt that their relationship only gets stronger with every struggle they face, even a struggle that could destroy what they feel for each other.

Rajmund is a powerful vampire, alpha and territorial, and possessive. PURE DELICIOUS MALE!! Loved him. He was very different from Raphael or Aden in many ways. He is more subtle in his power, even though you see that its bursting to break free. His treatment of Sara is mouthwatering, and I wish at many times I could trade places with her. His character is full of depth and I enjoyed discovering a new layer of Raj with each chapter. Sarah was a enjoyable character. I understood her reasons for keeping certain truths from Rajmund, since she couldn’t even tell her closest friend. She has had to live in fear most of her life. You see her vulnerability from the very beginning, and you only want to be on her side. This heroine definitely grabbed my attention and I could help but find her likable. We do some of Raphael and Cynthia, which is also fun.

Rajmund is a powerful paranormal romance that is one heart stopping thrill after another. There is no end to the passion, intense emotion or the suspense driven tale that makes your toes curl. It does contain a cliffhanger, they was very unexpected and left me hanging, but its not too overdone, yet at the same time made me want to pound my pillow!! Overall a well done job for D. B. Reynolds, who yet again has won me over!!! PURELY THRILLING!!

First Line
It was totally dark. She touched her fingers to her eyes to make sure they were open.

Favorite Quote
“Really? And why is that Raj? I am tired of you thinking you have the right to control me. You are not my boyfriend, and you sure as hell are not my keeper, so from where I stand, you’ve got no claim on me what so ever. Like the song says, you don’t want me for yourself so let me find someone else. It’s shit or get off the pot time, Raj. It’s now or never, Time to-” She gave a shriek as Raj swung an arm around her waist and lifted her off her feet. He threaded the fingers of one hand through her hair and pulled it aside, freeing the long line of her neck.
“Then I choose now,” he growled and sank his fangs into the velvet skin of her neck puncturing the fragile walls of her jugular.

Synopsis
Houston, Texas—Cowboy boots, baseball and journeys to the stars . . . right?

Wrong. Because Houston is also home to Jabril Karim, one of the eight powerful Vampire Lords who control all of North America. And as Private Investigator Cynthia Leighton will soon discover, not all Vampire Lords are created equal. For Jabril is the face of evil in the new world, a vampire who values no life but his own, who enslaves those he desires, steals whatever he covets and destroys anyone who stands in his way.

Running from L.A. and its seductive Vampire Lord, Raphael, Cyn sees the Houston job as a welcome refuge, a place to get away and heal her broken heart. But Texas will be no vacation. For in Jabril Karim, Cyn will confront a true enemy, one who will go to any lengths to satisfy his lusts, enrich his coffers and expand his power.

Fighting for the lives of two young sisters, Cyn’s journey will take her through the streets of Houston and back to L.A., where the human police are determined to bring Raphael down for the murder of one of their own. But the danger doesn’t end there. For Jabril has set his sights on Cyn, and he will stop at nothing to have her.

WINNER – REVIEWER’S CHOICE AWARD FOR BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE – SMALL PRESS, 2010

My Review

Jabril is the second installment in the Vampires in America series. I have recently become a new fan of this author. This story is a continuation of the first book, “Raphael”, but there is more focus on Cyn than Raphael. From the beginning here, Raphael and Cyn haven’t seen each other in weeks. Cyn goes to Texas on assignment for a vampire “Jabril”, little does she know how cruel he is or how warped his fascination with her would be. I enjoyed seeing more character from Cyn and seeing her capabilities. We see a side of her more in depth than we did in “Raphael”. We see how resourceful she is, and the courage she has against the worst odds. Jabril is a insane and psychotic vampire leader, and this book has a lot of focus on his obsession with Cyn and the two sisters she is trying to save from him. There is quite a level of suspense in this story, and the reunion of Raphael and Cyn is priceless. I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress further especially after the ending of the first one. Jabril is a fascinating and intense tale of sacrifice and love. Definitely can’t wait to read more of this series. Thanks to ImaJinn books and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful vampire romance that swept me away instantly!!  A GEM OF PARANORMAL ROMANCE!!

Synopsis
Malibu, California-home to rock-and-roll gods and movie stars, the beautiful, the rich . . . and vampires.

Powerful and charismatic, Raphael is a Vampire Lord, one of the few who hold the power of life and death over every vampire in existence. Thousands call him Master and have pledged absolute loyalty on their very lives. But when, in a brazen and deadly daylight attack, a gang of human killers kidnaps the one female vampire he’d give his life for, Raphael turns to a human investigator to find his enemies before it’s too late.

Cynthia Leighton is smart, tough and sexy, a private investigator and former cop who’s tired of spying on cheating spouses and digging out old bank accounts. When Raphael asks for her help in tracking down the kidnappers, Cyn’s happy to accept. But she soon realizes her greatest danger comes not from the humans, but from Raphael himself.

Battling Russian mobsters and treacherous vampires, and betrayed by those they trusted, Cyn and Raphael find themselves fighting for their lives while caught up in a passion of blood and violence that is destined to destroy them both.

My Review

Raphael is a book I was able to obtain through ImaJinn books via Netgalley. After reading the last book in the series “Aden”, I was fascinated by this authors style. I was curious why I had never heard of her before now. Well I am completely hooked. Raphael was a stunning paranormal romance that swept this reader off of her feet. A truly fantastically well written story that completely put a spell over me until I had finished. Raphael begins when someone close to Raphael ends up being kidnapped, and betrayed, he seeks retribution and Alexandra back safe and sound. Cyn, is a private investigator, and when she is approached by Raphael to find Alexandra for him, she does. Despite the danger surrounding Raphael and Cyn,a desire threatens to overcome them both until they can’t think straight.

This story was pretty intense and I was definitely had the feeling of being on the edge from beginning to end in this one. Raphael is one of the most powerful vampire lords, and everyone is afraid of him, no one defies him until Cyn. Cyn is naturally afraid of Raphael especially in the beginning, but when their relationship turns from professional to more intimate, she starts to trust him more. It was very thrilling at times, to see these two interact with each other. There was quite a high level of intensity involved, and seriously, this was a impossible to be put down. There was so many twists and turns in the plot that leave the reader breathless in anticipation. There was quite a bit of action and suspense with a mix of mystery and intrigue to satisfy any reader thirsting for some hot action and not just the intimate kind.

The characters were super intense and there was quite a bit we learn about each of them in this title, and some things you still wonder about at the end. Raphael, is very Alpha Male, domineering and controlling and possessive, and a sex machine—you can’t get any better right? He definitely knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to take what he wants. We learn quite a bit about his history and how he becomes a vampire, and his beginning in becoming who he is now currently. Cyn, is not your average heroine. She is content at times with who she is and where she is going. But you see that she is restless and not knowing where she exactly fits. She doesn’t believe in marriage, since her parents divorced when she was very young. When she meets Raphael, she starts to believe in the HEA, but it isn’t always guaranteed. Cyn is very strong and a fighter and I loved seeing her personality through the story. There is much more to her than meets the eye. A very complex character, but it was very stimulating getting to know these two characters as the story progressed.

Overall I have to say WELL DONE D.B. REYNOLDS!!! This author is definitely on my watch list. I can’t believe I just recently discovered her. I love the way she has created this world of vampires, intrigue and danger. There is quite a level of complexity to her stories, and this one tops them. A fascinating tale of intense love, action packed plot and characters to die for. STIMULATING!!

My Review

I was able to obtain this arc through ImaJinn Books via Netgalley. When I was able to get this one, I could hardly wait to read it. Even though its the seventh installment in the series, I found Aden to be a sexy paranormal romance that held my attention from page one. The story begins when Sidonie is desperate to get her story out about slavery. So she meets up with a powerful vampire, Aden, who is close to gaining the power of the Midwest. Sidonie doesn’t trust Aden further than she can throw him, but after meeting him she knows she will have to watch carefully, because he could be very dangerous, not physically but emotionally. Sidonie is determined to prove how horrid slavery is and its spreading like wildfire. If only she only knew how Aden feels toward slavery of any form. Aden was once a slave before he became a vampire, and he knows horrific truth of it all. When Aden first meets the redhead, he doesn’t want anything more than a sexual nature, however when Sidonie’s life is threatened and they are thrown into a war zone, Aden knows that he will do everything to save her even at the cost of losing everything he has worked for.

I loved the style of the story of Aden. Aden is a powerful alpha male that is for sure, and doesn’t let anyone stand in his way. That is until Sidonie arrives upon the scene. He has many alpha characteristics, and comes off way strong, but I love how he doesn’t let Sid have her way, instead he practically backs her into a corner. Sidonie isn’t used to not getting her way, so when she meets Aden every good intention is thrown out the window every time he touches her and inflames the passion that has been hiding beneath the surface. The relationship between Aden and Sidonie is quite steamy at times( a warning that it does have a bit of a BDSM element) , but I also loved how the author put in the aspect of softer side to the relationship. There is quite a bit of a danger and intrigue element that is put into play in the plot, that only strengthened the tone of the story.

Overall I fell in love with Aden. This is the first book that I have read from this author. And until I came across this book the first time I heard of this author. I read the latest book in the series, so I still need to get my hands on the other six. Very excited to read those installments and see if they are just as good as this title was. A thrilling tale of paranormal vampires, sizzling desire, and some intense action packed story. A WINNER!!
