Urban Fantasy Romance

For smart and sexy witch Jolie Wilkins, being Queen of the Underworld is a royal pain. Back from a round of time travel, Jolie must now protect her realm from the sinister Lurkers—a powerful breed of half-humans bent on conquering the undead. And if there’s one thing she knows, it’s that the supernatural never go down without a fight.

At least Jolie has her soul mate (and finally official boyfriend), warlock Rand Balfour, by her side. Honorable, brave, and unbelievably handsome, Rand is everything Jolie wants in a man. So why can’t she forget the dangerously alluring vampire, Sinjin Sinclair? With her private life heating up and a battle boiling over, Jolie sets out to prove that in matters of love and war, the fairer hex has its own set of charms

My Review
Summary
Jolie Wilkins, after her previous adventure with going back in time, is more than ready to take her full place as queen over her people, and to finally be a full part of Rand’s life. Even though things seem to be looking up for her, she is still worried for the Lurker threat who endanger her people, and whom they will more than likely be at war with, but with the love of her life, Rand, by her side, she is confident, that as long as they are together, anything is possible. What she didn’t take into account, is the close the Lurker threat looms closer, the more she learns of herself, and wonders of her true destiny? Only when she relies on her strong bond with Rand, will she be able to withstand the coming storm that could threaten everything that she holds dear…..

The Hero (Rand Balfour)
Rand, is a Warlock, but is also very much in love with Jolie, and after nearly losing her to Sinjin, he is more determined to hold her even closer to his side, and protect her from any danger. Rand, just like Jolie, has suffered much, but is more than willing to take the risk of their love, despite all the odds that are against them, and only with his love and faith in her will they be able to overcome the danger the threatens their very future.

The Heroine (Jolie Wilkins)
Jolie, a powerful witch and Queen of the underworld, has come back from another adventure that almost cost her, the love of her life, Rand, and even though she hates what Sinjin did to her, she also has mixed feelings, and still cares for him, even though she has bonded with Rand. Now there are some truths that will come into light, that will change her life, but only her love for Rand will sustain her.

My Thoughts
Something Witchy This Way Comes, is the fifth installment in the Jolie Wilkins series. Ever since the first book in the series, I have always loved this story, and I have just loved this author…..although I didn’t know how much I would like this book after the last one, but I found that it was entertaining, and filled with suspenseful moments, that I really wondered what would happen next. It wasn’t predictable at all, which was one of my favorite aspects while reading it, that there were surprises here and there. I have to say though, normally I hate love triangles, but for some reason in this story, I have just loved the love triangle with Jolie, Rand and Sinjin, it definitely adds flair to the story and enhances the characteristics of the plot. The only thing I didn’t like too much, was how indecisive Jolie can be, but I just love Rand, he is so sexy and appealing and his character is so endearing and one can’t help but love him to pieces. Overall a fun and intense story that was very satisfying as the end of the series!!!! Truly Enjoyed It!!!

Synopsis
The Underworld in civil war.
The cause? A witch who can reanimate the dead.
A sexy as sin vampire determined to claim her.
An infuriatingly handsome warlock torn between duty and love.
Who says blonds have more fun?

After defending herself against fairy magic, Jolie Wilkins wakes to find her world turned upside down—the creatures of the Underworld on the precipice of war.

The Underworld is polarized in a battle of witch against witch, creature against creature, led by the villainous Bella, who would be Queen.

While Jolie has one goal in mind, to stake the vampire, Ryder, who nearly killed her, she also must choose between the affections of her warlock employer, Rand, and the mysteriously sexy vampire, Sinjin.

And as if that weren’t enough to ruin a girl’s day, everything Jolie knows will be turned inside out when she’s thrust into the shock of a lifetime.

-MY REVIEW-

Summary:
The underworld is in chaos and preparing for war, with Rand and Jolie at the head of preparing for a war against the one witch, Bella, that would like nothing better than to see them suffer. Even though in the past things have always been tense between the different factions in the underworld, this is the first time it has come down to two sides fighting a war. So as Rand and Jolie help unite their side, and prepare for the war that is about to come, they know they must do everything in their power to win, or if they lose this one, all will be lost. Jolie Wilkins not only has the war to worry about but her relationship with Rand, who has yet to fully commit to her out of personal fears, and there is a also a certain sexy vampire who is more than ever determined to have her, but the one she wants more and love is Rand, and she hopes that can make it through the tough battles ahead.

My Thoughts
Toil and Trouble is the second and most recent installment in the Jolie Wilkins series written by H.P. Mallory.Toil and Trouble started off exactly where the last book ended, and I absolutely had such a fun time reading this one. I must have read it in two hours, I was so enthralled by the story and the lovely characters that made me fall in love with them a second time. This story is about two people that obviously love each other, but what they learn about each other and their relationship and what it needs the most is….trust. So we see these two take a journey preparing for a war that if it ends in a certain way could be grief and pain for the rest of their lives, however we also see they are both willing to fight for the one that they love, no matter the cost. Toil and Trouble was truly a delight to read, and I felt invigorated by it, and I can hardly wait for the next one….I feel like I am going to be twiddling my thumbs, anxious in the anticipation wondering what is going to happen and will it leave me hanging like this one did??? Overall a Fantastic read!!! I loved it!!!

My Favorite Quote
“Kiss Me,” I thought. Rand wasted no time in planting his mouth on mine. His tongue mated with mine in a passionate dance, and when he pulled away from me, there was fire in his eyes.

My Review:

Summary
Jolie Watkins, who is a psychic, lives in a shop with her cat and her best friend, in Los Angeles. . But then she has a certain customer do a walk-in, a Rand Balfour, who is a warlock- a male witch, and a very powerful one at that. Then Jolie see’s a ghost, which has never happened to her before, and then later finds out that Rand sent the ghost to her, to see her abilities, because he needs her help, in finding out who killed Jack (the ghost). So when she takes her friend, she goes with Rand, to help find the killer, however not realizing she not only finds out who kills him, but brings him back to life, needless to say Jolie is shocked that she is able to do such a thing. And despite the certain spark that comes to life between Jolie and Rand, Rand sends Jolie home, hoping that the magical world won’t find her, but never realizing what he started. When Jolie gets invited to a special party by Bella, Jack’s daughter, and also a powerful witch, and one you don’t want to ever cross, Jolie goes hoping to see Rand once more, never realizing that her life is about to change forever, and she is taken on a adventure of a lifetime, where love and magic exists, where she goes on a journey of discovery, where she is in the middle of a battle, that she must win if she is to survive.

The Hero
Rand Balfour, a male witch, has lived for a very long time, and in that time has never found love for himself. But when he needs Jolie to help him on a certain job, he never realized how his life would change once she entered his life, and how much he would fight to keep her by his side. Rand is one of those kind of hero’s that all women all over the world, wished they had at their side. He is powerful, and has a good heart, handsome beyond belief, and cares deeply for that one woman that has changed his life. The type that would willingly die for her.

The Heroine
Jolie Wilkins, not knowing that she is a witch, believes herself to be a psychic. She lives in Los Angeles and her cat, and her best friend Christa. Then she starts seeing a ghost, and meets  Rand Balfour, a warlock. When she agrees on doing a job for him, and in return gets money that will certainly help her make ends meet, she agrees, not believing at first what powers she truly has within her. Jolie doubts herself and her abilities, not believing that she is any of the things that she knows Rand see’s in her. Then her world gets turned upside down, when her life changes forever in one night when she goes to a masquerade dance, knowing that all she wants is to see Rand again, but never realizing that attending that one dance, she can never go back to her old life, and where she will be put in the middle of a war. But this heroine will find inner strength and power throughout her journey in this book.

My Thoughts:
I was requested by this author H.P. Mallory to review Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, and I am so glad that she did. I just loved this book, and once I got into the story, I couldn’t put it down. This was such a wonderful story, and I found the characters to be engaging and the plot riveting and full of adventure, romance, wit, and danger. One of the things that I loved about this book, was that it was full of surprises that I never expected. It was truly a delightful read, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author. This is definitely at the top of my list of Urban Fantasy!

Book Description
A novella of two stories, featuring an incubus and succubus.
Story #1 features a demure young woman unleashing the “devil in” her, through the intimacy with an incubus. Story #2 features a voyeuristic succubus driven by jealousy and a dangerous fixation.
My Review:

This book is two short paranormal romances, and I found that I really enjoyed this book. The Author requested that I review this book and I am glad that she did. I love reading anything involving the world of the paranormal, which this one does at this. The first story starts out with a story of a young woman who gets used sexually at the beginning by a modern rake, and she finds herself hurting from being used so badly. Then she meets Lucien at night on the beach, who captivates her attention. When she first meets him she see’s him with wings, however the next moment they disappear and she wonders if she is imagining things. As time goes on she finds out who Lucien really is, a incubus and after sharing some intense passionate encounters, there is something changing within in, when she realizes that she is part human and part incubus. She finds within herself something unleashing, that she never imagined would ever happen to her. There is a devilish quality that errupts within her, but she has a intimate connection to him that she can’t resist. I found this story to be a very passionate and strong love story that ignites the feeling of intimate sensation that heats up the room. I found that I couldn’t put this one down, and since it is the first one that I have read that involves a incubus, its pages were filled with passion, adventure, mystery and a love that pulls at the hear strings!!! The second story however it was a bit enjoyable, but not the kind that I usually read. This story has a male succubus who is a voyeur. Most of the book is how he follows Adriana and watches her day by day, including sexual encounter with a “male friend”. It wasn’t until the end that they start really connecting.  For me I like more interaction with the main characters, and there was toward the end but not enough to fully satisfy me. Overall it was a good book to read and I am grateful that this author chose me to review it!!!
