Synopsis
The “First Lady of the West,” #1 New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller is back with a new series about Parable, Montana-where love awaits. The illegitimate son of a wealthy rancher, Sheriff Slade Barlow grew up in a trailer hitched to the Curly-Burly hair salon his mother runs. He was never acknowledged by his father-until now. Suddenly, Slade has inherited half of Whisper Creek Ranch, one of the most prosperous in Parable, Montana. That doesn’t sit well with his half brother, Hutch, who grew up with all the rights of a Carmody. Including the affections of Joslyn Kirk, homecoming queen, rodeo queen, beauty queen-whom Slade has never forgotten But Joslyn is barely holding her head up these days as she works to pay back everyone her crooked stepfather cheated. With a town to protect-plus a rebellious teenage stepdaughter-Slade has his hands full. But someone has to convince Joslyn that she’s responsible only for her own actions. Such as her effect on this lawman’s guarded heart.

My Review

Slade Burrow, the Sheriff of Parable, is shocked when he learns he has inherited half of his fathers ranch. Slade is his bastard son, and was barely involved in his life growing up. His mother struggling to make do with her hair salon. Now he has more money than he ever imagined, and a half brother that wants him to sell his portion, and his step daughter will be staying with him for the summer. His life has turned upside down, but what really shocks him to the core is the arrival of Joslyn Kirk. Joslyn has come back to Parable to make amends for her fathers errors. Her father, cheated many in Parable of quite a large amount of money. So she sells her business to pay everyone the money that is owed them. She has very few friends in Parable now. Most seem to blame her for her fathers sins. Then she ends up running into Slade Burrow and sparks fly. Even though she wants to deny her attraction to Slade, she can’t deny the desire she feels for him, or the way she feels her heart weakening toward him.

Big Sky Country is the first in the parable series by Linda Lael Miller. Its been a while since I have read this author. In the past she was a favorite, especially with her historical’s, and I do hope one day she does return to that. However I knew how much I loved her style, so I thought I would pick this one out, and see if I liked it. I had read some mixed reviews previous about this series, but I really had a feeling about Big Sky Country, and from the first moment I picked it up, I was hooked. I could barely put this down to sleep, I enjoyed it that much. It took me longer to actually pick it up to read than to actually read it (LOL). I really enjoyed the set up of the story. We are also introduced to some side characters that are in future books, which I am looking forward to after seeing their involvement in this story. The story begins with Slade learning of his inheritance, then it turns to Joslyn arriving to Parable and staying with the only friend she has in Parable. Then a dog gets involved, and Joslyn and Slade see each other, and thus begins a flirty romance that turns into one helluva country romance.

The characters weren’t too spectacular or original, however they were very likable. There is a conflict between Slade and Joslyn in the beginning, but as the story progresses, the rough edges start to slowly smooth out. Slade is your typical hero of a contemporary. Handsome, capable, confident and sexy as sin. I liked him but didn’t love him. He was very endearing at times, and I did enjoy seeing his unique character blend into the story pretty well. He seemed to be very charismatic  at times, and at others seemed to display some vulnerabilities but I didn’t feel like his character really drew me completely, but Slade was enjoyable quite often. Joslyn, was very likable and surprisingly I liked her more than Slade. There was something about her character that I felt had much more substance to me. We see her in the beginning full of issues and problems, just like normal people. Not over the top gorgeous, but a normal looking woman (which made me feel like she was easier to relate with).

I enjoyed this fun and carefree western contemporary and I liked the way this story turned out in the end. It had a nice ending that fills the reader with satisfaction. A enjoyable romance to relax into on a calm winters day.  Definitely going to read more books in the series!! 🙂

The Hero (Austin McKettrick)

After being seriously injured after being tossed from one of the most dangerous bulls in the nation, he is too full of his McKettrick Pride to admit how much pain he is in. Austin her her once, and still feels that even though much time has passed. But now being put in such close proximity to him, and that all the strong feelings she has always felt for him have always been there.

My Thoughts
Austin is the most recent installment in the McKettrick series. Of all the series and books that Linda Lael Miller has written-The McKettricks are by far my favorite t read. however Austin is my least favorable book in the series, even though it was enjoyable, it didn’t flow as smoothly as her other books. This story is about two people who have always loved each other, but their time wasn’t right for them to be together…until now. The characters are both equally stubborn and so right for each other, and have met their match in one another. Overall a fun and enjoyable story set in Texas.

My Favorite Quote
He put his hands on either side of Paige’s face and he kissed her, bu then in the next heartbeat, she softened against him and he deepened the kiss.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Tate McKettrick runs a busy life with his work on the Silver Spur Ranch, his twin daughters, a ex wife who tries to manipulate him and his daughters lives. However his attraction to Libby Remington has never changed. Libby runs a coffee shop, and helps in taking care of her mother, and would rather stay as clear from Tate as she possibly can.  Tate once broke her heart, for his ex wife, and ever since Libby knows that she must be cautious where he is concerned, because she could easily fall in love with him again. But they keep running into each other and before Libby knows it, they are going on dates and hanging out with his daughters and the dogs and the passion between them is like a firestorm with no calming on the horizon. Libby knows that she needs more than sex from Tate, she needs love and commitment, and doesn’t believe he won’t break her heart again, but Tate is determined more now than ever to prove to her how much she matters to him.

The Hero (Tate McKettrick)
Tate McKettrick is one of the three McKettrick brothers, and the most sensible of the bunch. He made a mistake when he was younger that cost him the one woman he has loved more than any other, but can’t regret it since he now has two adorable twin daughters. But now he wants Libby back into his life, but now he has a long road ahead of him, because he hurt her and must now earn back her trust and her heart, but McKettricks are known for the determination which he plans on using to win her back…

The Heroine (Libby Remington)
Libby has two sisters both of whom she loves dearly but could drive her insane. Libby loved her father, but has a hard time with accepting her mother as she is, for she was never a mother to them, or a real wife to their father. Now her mother is back in town hoping to make amends, but Libby and her sisters are far from receptive to their eccentric and difficult mother, who never really was there for her children when they needed her. Now their father is gone, and Libby has a hard time staying afloat with just her coffee shop, and a certain McKettrick who enters back into her life, who could easily break her heart again. Libby is a strong young woman, but her heart was broken for another woman, and doesn’t believe that Tate could truly love and commit to her, but she feels herself fallling head over heels in love with this certain McKettrick!!

My Thoughts
Tate is the 11th installment in the McKettrick Series written by Linda Lael Miller. I have read most of the McKettrick series and have loved each and every one of them. This is a truly emotionally driven story about two people that once were in love, and mistakes were made, and their lives have taken different direction. But somehow through a twist a fate they are brought back together, and could have a future together if they learn to trust in the love they have always had for each other. Filled with adventure, vibrant characters, and  a tender romance that will have you aching to read more from this author!!! Such a fantastic read!!

My Favorite Quote
Libby blushed, but then she had to laugh “I am not offering Tate Mckettrick stand up sex in the storeroom,”

” Now that’s a damn pity” Tate said, Libby whirled around, saw him standing in the doorway, arms folded, grin wicked.

MY REVIEW

A MCKETTRICK CHRISTMAS

Summary:
Lizzie McKettrick, is traveling home from San Francisco with a prospective future fiancee, and planning on surprising her family with Whitley Carson. But then a avalanche strikes the train they are traveling on and they are stranded witha blizzard outside and not much hope of surviving with a likely chance of them on the edge (which could tip their car over), and another avalanche that could down upon them at any time. Dr Morgan Shane takes charge and Lizzie is drawn to him in a way that she has never been drawn to a man before. Despite their current dangerous circumstances surrounding them, their is a spark that flares between the two, and Lizzie knows in her heart he is the man she would want to spend her life with if they manage to survive.

My Thoughts
I have read most of the McKettrick series, and was delighted to read Lizzie’s Story. The four previous books involving her father and her three uncles, are treats to read, as was A McKettrick Christmas. From the first sentecne I know I would enjoy reading, its definitely a heartwarmer for the Holidays. The characters were touching, and although a bit shorter than I would have liked when it comes to a McKettrick book (or any of Linda Lael Millers books) it was still a Christmas delight that will warm your heart.

My Favorite Quote
Around and around they went, the doctor and the schoolmarm, waltzing to the beat of each other’s hearts.

A CREED COUNTRY CHRISTMAS

Summary:
Juliana Mitchell, a schoolteacher of an Indian school, and loves each of the children that she teaches. However because of her brother refusing to give her inheritance, she is unable to send some of the children, (which she could lose her job if she doesn’t get them off) to their next destination. Then she meets Lincoln Creed who offers to take them in. Lincoln widowed and father to Gracie, who is in needs of a governess and more importantly a mother. So when Lincoln proposes to Juliana, she agrees when she starts to realize how much she is beginning to care for this rancher who is in need of love, and who also aches for him in her life.

My Thoughts
I have now read all books from the Creed series, but I just love each and every one of the Creeds so far, and Lincoln Creed is no different. Lincoln loved his previous wife deeply and suffers from the loss. But when he meets Juliana he is charmed, as is his daughter. Gracie is in need of a mother figure and that nurting he feels he could never provide for her. Lincoln also has been lonely for far too long and yearns for someone to come home to. A Creed Country Christmas is a classic holiday story, where there are two people more in needs of love and the healing Christmas season, than they truly realize. A tender Christmas story, one I will never forget.

My Favorite Quote
She slipped her arms around his neck and rose onto her tiptoes, caught up in her response like a leaf swept up into a whirlwind.

Synopsis:
After twelve years, the headstrong Annabel McKeige is back in the frontier town of Parable, Nevada. Back to face the husband she left behind …the son she never saw grow to manhood …and the home where her heart broke when she lost a beloved daughter. But her intentions regarding their marriage are soon clear–even if her motives are not.

Gabe McKeige loved Annabel too fiercely to let a chance like this slip away. But the iron-willed rancher is also too proud to beg–he didn’t twelve years ago, and he won’t now. So, Gabe sets out to woo Annabel the only way he knows…with passion-filled kisses and sensual touches that conjure the sweet firestorm of their marriage bed. And Annabel is finding that the man she once left is unbearably hard to resist ….

My Review:
Annabel hasn’t seen her husband or son in twelve years, after losing her beloved daughter she grieved deeply. Wanting to find love again and to have children once more, she comes back to Nevada, (all the way from England) and asks Gabriel for a divorce. However, Gabriel has totally different plans, now that Annabel has returned he has no reason to let her go this time. Gabe always has had a deep love for Annabel, but had too much pride the first time to go after her, this time he wants it to be different. He has no intention of letting her get a divorce, but showing her how strong they are together. After coming back to Parable, Nevada she is eager to see her son that she had to give up. Knowing that she has hurt him deeply she vows to herself to make amends and prove to him that she has always loved him even though she wasn’t always there for him. Things are definitely rocky for this small family but their love is strong and will be proved time and time again, which will only draw them closer together.

I enjoyed this one that Linda Lael Miller has written, it definitely was a deep love story, the kind that always pulls at your heartstrings. I have always loved reading Linda Lael Miller, she writes in a way that takes you back in time to the old westerns, with the plains, and indians and the kind of life that is very different, but which is portrayed so vividly. What I didn’t like about this book was that Annabel didn’t return home sooner, after all she lived in England for about twelve years, and its understandable in some ways, but I just didn’t agree with a mother not raising her son. But I guess its better late than never, and I loved how not only did Annabel and Gabe were driven to forgive one another and become closer as a couple; but Miller also developed a relationship between mother and son, that definitely forced out a tear or two out of me. So if you are looking for a deep, emotional love story that has its tense moment but has a happy ending this one is for you!!!!

Harlequin Books,

Western Contemporary

Synopsis:
Descendants of the legendary McKettrick family, the Creeds are renowned in Stillwater Springs, Montana — for raising hell…
Whether winning championship belt buckles or dealing with Hollywood types for endorsement deals, former rodeo star Tyler Creed can handle anything. Except standing on the same patch of land as his estranged brothers. Yet here they are in Stillwater Springs, barely talking but trying to restore the old Creed ranch–and family.
Lily Kenyon knows all about family estrangements and secrets. The single mom has come home to set things right, to put down roots for her daughter. What she doesn’t expect is Tyler Creed, whom she’s loved since childhood. Now the handsome, stubborn cowboy who left home to seek his fortune just might find it was always under the Montana sky….

My Review:
This is the third and last in the Montana Creeds Series. and probably my least favorite, but still a enjoyable read. Tyler is the youngest of the three brothers, and the most wild as well. The story starts out with Tyler trading his Cadillac for a truck; with a older couple. The man that owns that truck is baffled, but accepts the trade; who wouldn’t?. Tyler is driving down the road heading back to Stillwater Springs and his pickup breaks down. He decides to call and find a tow truck, if he can.
Lily Kenyon comes home from Chicago to take care of her father after he has a heart attack. Lily is a widow, with a young daughter Tess. As they are driving home from the hospital, they see a young man on the road, Tyler Creed. Lily has always been in love with Tyler, but when they were younger he had a affair with a much older woman, a waitress. Tyler broke Lily’s heart, and at the sight of seeing him again, she has to wonder if he will break it again. As their feelings develop, and their relationship grow, and unseeing danger will sneak up upon them.

I enjoyed this book, although it is my least favorite of the series. I felt that the relationship between Lily and Tyler wasn’t as connected as I thought it should be. It also seemed to me that Lily just seemed to forget the past whenever she was anywhere near Tyler. I find that hard to believe, from how much he hurt her. This book just didn’t seem to cover their past issues which are a very vital part of their relationship. Pretty much they just have a lot of steaming wild passionate sex (although I have to say some of my favorite scenes) and then they decide to get married. I thought it seemed a little too rushed for me. More so that the other books in the series. It did have some great mysterious intrigue, that fascinates and makes the reader want to hold their breath on what is going to happen next. So for the most part I enjoyed reading this one, although there were some flaws that really affected my opinion of the book.

(Montana Creeds Series)

Synopsis:
Descendants of the legendary McKettrick family, the Creeds are renowned in Stillwater Springs, Montana–for raising hell…

Hailed as “rodeo’s bad boy” for his talent at taming bulls and women, Dylan Creed likes life in the fast lane. But when the daughter he rarely sees is abandoned by her mother, Dylan heads home to Stillwater Springs ranch. Somehow the champion bull rider has to turn into a champion father–and fast.

Town librarian Kristy Madison is uncharacteristically speechless when Dylan Creed turns up for story time with a toddler in tow. The man who’d left a trail of broken hearts–including her own–is back…and this time Kristy’s determined to tame his wild ways once and for all.

My Review
This is the second in the creed men trilogy, and I truly loved Dylan about as much as I loved Logan. It start out in Las Vegas, Nevada. Where Dylan comes out to his truck, and finds his two year old daughter “Bonnie”, furious that she was left alone; he then finds a note from Sharlene saying that she can’t keep Bonnie anymore and that she is heading out with her current boyfriend. He decides that he is going to learn to take good care of his daughter (since Sharlene hardly let him see “Bonnie” so he really has no idea what he is doing) and heads to Stillwater Springs Ranch.
Kristy Madison is the town librarian, feeling all alone in the world with her parents having been dead for some time, and the only man she has ever truly loved broke her heart when she was younger. She sometimes feels like she is going to be a spinster; but has a good life for herself. Then one day Dylan Creed strolls into her library for story time with a toddler in his arms. Kristy is utterly speechless. Its been years since she has seen Dylan Creed, and never thought that she would see him anytime soon.
Dylan with his responsiblities to his daughter, is yet still drawn to the beautiful, sexy, librarian. Kristy, knows she needs more than what she currently has. She yearns for love and a home and children of her own. “Bonnie totally captivates Kristy’ attention, and soon Kristy’s is enchanted by her acceptance and innocence that a young child possess. There is also strange mysterious things happening around Stillwater Springs, a mystery that both Kristy and Dylan are willing to solve. With questions being aroused about Kristy and Dylan’s father, feelings begin to develop again between Kristy and Dylan.

I was totally enthralled by this particular story of Millers. Ever since I have read Logan’s story, I have looked forward to reading Dylan’s, and it didn’t disappoint. Of course whenever I read one of Linda Lael’s Millers books; I rarely get disappointed. Dylan’s Story is loaded with intrigue, passionate embraces, and a tender strengthening love that develops between Dylan and Kristy. I could barely put it down, and endearingly fell in love with the story. There were only a few things that I didn’t feel worked right within the story line, but other than a few minor details, it was a very exciting and enjoyable read.

Synopsis:
Descendents of the legendary McKettrick family, the Creeds are renowned in Stillwater Springs, Montana—for raising hell…

After years of wandering, Logan Creed, a cowboy with a dusty law degree, has returned home. To put down roots, to restore his family’s neglected ranch… to have kids of his own proudly bearing the Creed name.

Divorced mom Briana Grant has heard the stories about her gorgeous neighbor. So Logan’s kindness with her young boys is a welcome surprise, especially when her ex reappears. And when an unknown enemy vandalizes her home, Logan shows Briana—and the folks of Big Sky country—just what he’s made of.

Meet the Creed cowboys of Montana: three estranged brothers who come home to find family—and love.

My Review
It starts out in the Present Day and takes place in Still water Springs. Logan is the oldest of three sons of a drunk and hard father, Jake Creed. After Jake is killed all of the three sons leave Stillwater Springs. Logan has a law degree, taking a active role as a rodeo cowboy, and ends up getting married twice and divorced, and coming to the realization that he wants to turn his life around. The Creed’s are descendants of the McKettrick Clan. For many years, the Creed’s haven’t had a legacy like the McKettricks have had, and Logan makes the decisions to make that happen. On his way home however, he comes upon a abandoned and poor dog and Logan against his better judgement decides to take him in. He then comes to his ranch and walks to the cemetery where his mother is buried and comes upon a young women with two young boys and a dog.
Briana Grant is divorced with two young boys, Josh and Alec. She works at the local Casino with a management position, takes care of Dylan Creed’s home in exchange for being able to live there, and home schooling her children. Briana thinks her life is going pretty good, every now and then she takes her boys to the cemetery and they weed and take care of it, and have a picnic. She then notices a handsome, man who captures her attention in that same cemetery and she knew her life would never be the same. As Briana and Dylan get to know each, a unsuspecting danger will come and sneak upon them.
As I was reading Logan’s story, I was utterly entranced into the catpivating story in Montana. I have always loved Montana, the valleys and mountains are gorgeous, and Miller portrayed it so well, the story was made alive within the readers eyes. The main characters were vivid and enthralling. The plot was filled with love, passion, mysterious intrigue, and a story that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Although it did have some parts in it that were confusing, and weren’t eventually explained, and there were some of the relationships between the main characters and sub characters that I felt should have been more connected. But overall it was a well written and enjoyable read. I am looking forward to read Dylan’s story next.
